How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

Our wedding day felt like pure magic, and it is truly thanks to the incredible team at this wedding venue. Our guests were in awe of the space, and we received so many compliments regarding the décor, drinks, food, photographer and overall experience. “This was literally a dream! Firstly, the owner truly was so kind to us from the beginning and super responsive! They truly went above and beyond and I noticed extra decor at the wedding including on our sweetheart table (I didn’t know a sweet heart table could make me feel like a literal queen), which was really sweet and perfect! Grayson was so accommodating and the last minute added roses for my memorial chair was really special! My bridesmaids also loved Jenny and Maddy was phenomenal! Most importantly EVERYONE loved Grace (our event planner)! Even with the rain she made me feel calm and that everything was going to be perfect and it was! She fit right in with our crew and by the end of it felt like part of the family. She ensured everything went smoothly and it did, even with all the weddings she had that weekend. Everything was super organized! My guests LOVED the food, I mean they were truly raving about all the appetizers, the main course etc, everything was delicious-Mike and I didn’t eat until we got back to our suite because we were having a blast out on the dance floor! Premium Entertainment was a great recommendation, we loved them! Everyone texted us and said how much fun they had, that it was the best food they had and that it was the most fun they had at a wedding, ever! I had one guest tell me it was the safest wedding they ever went too, assuming because we had transportation as well-we went with Palmeri Transportation. The bartenders knew all of the guests drinks every time they went up there. Also, someone customized me a raspberry lemonade vodka, it was the most delicious drink I’ve ever had! The cooks, wait staff etc., truly they have the best all around! The bridal studio made us all look fabulous. I would recommend them to everybody! Lastly, Happy hour got us in for our rehearsal late lunch/early dinner last minute so thank you to Grace for recommending them! They were also amazing! We appreciate them more than you know! “Our wedding here was INCREDIBLE and I couldn't recommend it enough. Every single person we worked with was so helpful, kind, and thoughtful and made this process so easy for us. Every single detail was executed perfectly. Every interaction was professional, timely, and warm. For the whole year leading up to our wedding, we felt incredibly supported and cared for. I had so many questions, and the Willowdale team was so prompt, helpful, and kind in their responses. As for the actual wedding, it was a total dream. The food is actually the best food ever... wedding food or not. It's been two months and everyone is still talking about it. The space is GORGEOUS and feels intimate and special while still accommodating larger weddings. Our coordinator, Julia, and the team worked with the florist and all the decor we dropped off ahead of time to execute the design and vision better than I could ever dream up. I was truly shocked when seeing the space - the attention and care to detail was unparallel and so gorgeous. And the BEST PART... On the day of the wedding, there was absolutely nothing to think about or stress about because Julia had it all under control. “We just had our wedding at Deity in April 2024 and couldn’t be happier with how our special day went. The planning process: After we toured the venue, we knew Deity was special. The pricing was very transparent and super reasonable considering everything that’s included – the venue (lounge, loft, and basement), day-of coordinator, food, 50 bar credit pp, basic décor package, and DJ. The space is gorgeous and so unique, unlike any other venue we’ve attended as guests or toured. Each floor has a purpose and accompanying vibe to match – the bridal suite is relaxing and picturesque (highly recommend adding this to your day for an added cost), the cocktail lounge is dreamy, the ceremony loft (and dinner space) is bright yet cozy, and the basement dance floor is funky and fun. Because the venue was already beautifully designed and all inclusive, the only things we needed to provide for the ceremony/reception were signage (welcome, table arrangements, his/her drinks), minimal décor/flowers (we hired a florist for the ceremony arch and did bud vases for the tables and they turned out beautiful), and dessert. Some (including me) may be nervous about all-inclusive venues, however Deity was so accommodating to the little ways in which we wanted to make our wedding unique, such as incorporating cultural outfit changes into the schedule to setting up a late-night instant noodle bar. Finally, Anna, the coordinator included with the venue, was a godsend. She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier, patiently answered all my random questions, and provided guidance where needed. The day of: Our family and friends were blown away by the bridal suite. We were relaxed the whole morning while getting ready and got some beautiful photos to start off the day. Once the day started rolling, Anna and the whole Deity team were on top of everything. They made sure everyone was on schedule but also were flexible with last minute changes, even making sure my husband and I had private moments to ourselves. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had so many guests compliment the cocktail hour bites and dinner service, even our very picky grandma said it was the best salmon she’s ever had. The drinks were flowing and we had guests commenting on how drink service on the dance floor was genius – everyone could continue dancing and no one was ever waiting with an empty glass. Also, my husband and I were initially nervous about an in-house DJ because we are very picky with music but DJ BenHaMeen was amazing, listened to our wants and needs, and kept the dancefloor lively (our photographer even complimented the music!). All in all, we cannot recommend Deity enough. Our guests are still asking if we can have a wedding there every year (we wish!).”

“Our experience with Chicago Winery exceeded any expectations we had. We had never planned a wedding before, so we really leaned on CW and the wedding coordinator Chris to help guide us in our decision making. Chris was so prompt and thorough in every response leading up to the wedding, and so on top of everything the day of that we were able to truly just enjoy the day with zero stress. We chose CW because it is a turnkey venue- nearly everything is included- which means fewer vendors to track, fewer decisions to make, and overall just an easier planning experience. It is also a stunning venue without an ounce of decor brought in, which saved a lot of floral and other decor. They worked with us to create a day that reflected our vision, despite it being less traditional (cocktail style dinner, no assigned seats, dancing before and after dinner), and it worked seamlessly! The food and drinks were wonderful, but that was the least of our worries as we had heard great reviews from previous wedding guests at CW. Overall, we felt very taken care of and our primary goal of throwing a great party for our guests and a day that we will always remember (and truly were able to experience) for ourselves was accomplished. I think not every couple is able to sit back and enjoy their wedding day, and I largely credit Chicago Winery’s team and expertise for allowing us to have the best weekend ever.”

“We were absolutely thrilled with our experience at Walden Chicago. From the moment we toured the venue with Maria, we knew it was the perfect place for our November 2024 wedding. A huge added perk that we quickly learned was going to make a huge difference in our wedding planning experience was the included in-house planning team. Kalila and Alyssa supported us from beginning to end. Throughout the planning process both Kalila and Alyssa were attentive and responsive. Whether they were recommending vendors, answering one of many questions, helping us sort through rehearsal dinner options, or navigating final meetings and details they were with us through every step of the way. The online planning tool you gain access to through Walden helps you stay organized and makes sure you don’t forget any detail (big or small). When we had a slight mishap with our cake the day of the wedding they had already reached out to the bakery on our behalf before the wedding was over and a partial refund for the cake was secured by the next morning. Our wedding day ran smoothly thanks to Kalila and Alyssa. I felt as though I did not have to worry about a thing. The planning team handled all communication with vendors and kept us on schedule which allowed for us both to be very present on our big day. I have to highlight the spacious bridal suite as it was the perfect place to start the day. With 9 bridesmaids, a mother of the bride and a mother of the groom you naturally worry about any space feeling cramped but the separate getting ready stations and lounge area allowed everyone to be relaxed and comfortable the morning of the wedding and throughout the wedding day. This was also the perfect space to be tucked away post ceremony to enjoy our first moments together as newlyweds. Walden had our signature drinks and the appetizers waiting for us to enjoy a quiet moment alone before heading down to join our cocktail hour. The rooftop at golden hour made for some breathtaking photos, the ceremony space lit with candles crated the perfect ambiance for our Friday evening ceremony, and the cocktail and reception spaces decorated to fit our vision made for the most memorable day. After the tasting party a few months prior to the wedding, we knew the food and drinks were going to be a stand out part of the evening. Because we were given multiple options for appetizers, salads, mains and drinks, we were really able to personalize the menus to our taste. Guests raved about our food and drinks. We were told by nearly every guest that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Walden seamlessly accommodated various guests food restrictions and allergies as well. As we look back on our wedding day, all we can do is smile. The combination of the beautiful spaces, top-notch planning, and incredible food and drinks made our special day even more memorable. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. A special thank you to Myles, who was phenomenal. He was calm, professional, incredibly attentive, and somehow always one step ahead. He made us feel completely taken care of and played a huge role in making the day feel effortless. The food was excellent, our guests are still talking about it, and the service throughout the evening was outstanding. “My mother and I had a joint celebration of our birthdays around late September last year. The venue was everything we could have dreamed of. Since it is situated in Roosevelt Island, it was the perfect venue to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city and yet still get a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline. The team was also very friendly and supportive to all of our requests and questions. They made sure that our event will go accordingly to what we have envisioned. To top it all off, the food was amazing!!! It is so rare for the celebrants to eat during the event itself but I personally couldn't contain myself. Every dish that was offered during our event was impeccable and there wasn't any miss. There is not one bad thing that I could honestly say about this venue and the team behind. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.

Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. The Farm is truly a wonderful place to host your big day! Our goal is to work with each couple to carry out their vision for the day! What is great about The Farm is it truly can be anything you would like it to be, from a backyard barbecue to a beautiful sit down farm-to-table dinner! We would love to serve you on your Wedding Day.

“We love Farm Bakery & Events! This venue is family owned and operated, which you can feel through every step! They are so kind and helpful through the entire day! There are so many beautiful spots on the property to capture photos! There's a huge open field, which is stunning! The property is lined with beautiful trees that change color depending on the season and ends with a section of land that showcases the sunset perfectly! There's even a section with flowers!
