“Engagement and wedding photographers aren't usually something you need too many times in a lifetime. Sometimes you aren't sure where to begin or who to book, but you take your chances and hope for the best. That was me, pre meeting Justin Kunimoto. I found Justin through a google search. His website and portfolio were beautiful. His about me/philosophy page came through as warm and genuine, and I reached out to him via Instagram about an engagement shoot with the DC cherry blossoms. Justin responded quickly and professionally. Once we had a plan, he sent follow ups about construction and road closures near the tidal basin. He gave us suggestions on where to park and how long it would take to walk over. He arrived early that morning to do a walkthrough of the area. We had also arrived early, but he told us to stay in the car where it's warmer until it was closer to sunrise. Once we met up with him and were about to get started, I realized I never paid for parking. I tried paying for it on my phone, but naturally, it wasn't working. We didn't have our credit cards on us, so Justin offered to pay in order to save us a trip. I thought, "Whoa, this guy's really trusting. He's reaching for his wallet for us and we met him just five minutes ago." It turned out ParkMobile really was down, so my fiancé ended up running back to the car and paid at the meter. I apologized for the mix-up and he assured me it was okay. He said he's not in any rush and we have as long as we need. It made me feel at ease knowing he wasn't charging me for his time, but rather, the photoshoot/project as a whole. Justin did a great job planning and communicating ahead of the shoot. We felt loose and carefree the entire time. It was fun! Our photos turned out beautifully and for the ones that didn't, it was because of us as models and not his artistic composition. I could tell that he fixed up my stray hairs and removed some visible dress straps. He also brought us hand warmers to use. In so many ways, his thoughtfulness shined through and through. What a wonderful person, all around. It was a pleasure to meet him and to work with him.”

I'm Ciana, a documentary-style wedding and elopement photographer based along the East Coast, serving adventurous and experience-driven couples all over the world. Using film and digital mediums, I've developed a knack for chasing stories - the kind that are told through landscapes, reinvented traditions, fleeting glances, and wholesome conversations.

We have used them twice, yet it feels like we have known them forever. The first time was for our pregnancy announcement session. Ciana and Ryan literally braved the windy 35 degree weather with gusts up to 40mph with us to help us capture photos to announce this special time in our lives to friends & family. I was so worried the insane wind would ruin our photos, but Ciana reassured me that they would still turn out perfect despite the conditions and to trust her. I truly don’t know how she did it, because they turned out absolutely perfect and beautiful. She truly knows how to capture the raw and genuine moments between a couple. Her attention to detail and the depth she captures in her photos is incredible. And the second time we used her was for our gender reveal, where my husband and I found out the gender of our baby together with our close friends and family. Ciana and Ryan captured absolutely everything about the day that I truly dreamed of. These photos will be forever keepsakes and always hold a place in our hearts. It’s so special to know we will always have these to look back on and smile and reminisce over and to be able to share this incredibly joyful time with our son someday so he can see how we celebrated learning about his life. “If you're looking for a wedding photographer that will go above and beyond, Sam is your man. He was so much more than a photographer. We cared most about the small, beautiful, candid moments people share with one another on a wedding day and Sam captured all of it. He has a magical way of capturing emotions and making everything seem like it is in motion. We had a small family wedding and Sam immersed himself into the day and our families. It was so wonderful. He did the work of three photographers and I'm still not sure how he accomplished it all! More than that, he was there for every little thing we needed. Extra bluetooth speaker? Sam was on it. “I can’t recommend Rachel enough! She made the entire process so easy, even when I literally had no idea what I was doing. By far the easiest of all my vendors to work with; it was clear from beginning to end that she cared about us and our experience above all else. All the pictures were seamless and her keeping track of the timeline was a god send! We had a crew that was a little bit like wrangling cats and she still managed to make sure everyone got where they needed to be. And the pictures are better than I could have even imagined. She made the most of the time and even gave me advice on navigating things with my hair and make up vendor to ensure everyone was ready on time and everything was as stress free as possible, which was so helpful because she has seen waaaaaaay more weddings than me!
