Avery Wong Photography

5.0

  • Fine art style
  • Starts at $3,700
  • Serves South San Francisco, CA

I can tell you how I started shooting photos since I was a young wee lad, but that's what everyone else says and also it's not true. I didn't even pick up a camera until I was in high school. I'm the type of person who ignores convention and does it differently, my own way. Seldom the "right" way, but always the "Wong" way. My passion for creativity and my adeptness of the tech and the technical is what allows me to weave my craft and to produce art for my couples.

When my now husband and I were looking for a photographer, we made a tier list. After lots of weeding out of mediocre photographers, we narrowed our selections down to two. We resolved to contact the last two to see which one we wanted to go with. From the minute I first met Avery on zoom, I knew that I wanted to work with him. Not only are his photos phenomenal and extremely cinematic, they are somehow able to tell a story in the photo. I felt moved looking at some of his albums and I wondered how he was able to do that. When we actually got to working with him on our wedding day, I understood his process: He actually knows how to pose a model and gives clear instructions on where to put your hand, when to tilt head down, where to look, etc. This is what I was specifically looking for, as I've had some photographers who were just 'okay' that snapped away but gave no direction as to what to do. I think this is the mark of an excellent photographer and one who has clearly done many weddings. My butt looks great in all the photos. :) Also, I feel like I would qualify as a quirky bride, and he totally embraced that and took photos of my multiple plushies. That's a 100 in my book.

Trung Hoang Photography

5.0

South San Francisco, CA
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $4,495

My name is Trung, the head honcho at this eponymously named company. My name is pronounced “Troon”, which sounds like spoon, so ignore those other letters that make life complicated. I've been a photographer for close to 10 years, photographing things big and small, far and wide. It's pretty incredible how impactful and valuable a split second image of a given time, place, person, or object can mean to a person. Whether it's a photograph of someone you love or a place you'd love to be, photographs spark memories or inspire the pursuit of new ones and that's why I love it.

Trung was a preferred vendor at Hakone Gardens, but he also became our preferred vendor to work with for our wedding. From the initial consult to day of the celebrations, Trung had such a great sense of humor and light heartedness that really relieved the stress we had during this time. He was knowledgeable and realistic about timing and really helped to keep us on track with his efficiency. We are so glad we got to work with him and have such beautiful memories captured by him. To all who are interested, you will not regret your decision to work with him and we cannot recommend him enough.

Hello! I’m so excited for the chance to work with you. I’m a former teacher who has always had a passion for photography. I started working freelance in 2015 and did a lot of my first jobs in the music industry. I shot Warped Tour a few times and even had one of my promos featured by AP magazine. I quickly realized I loved working with couples the most, and now focus on couple and family portraits and weddings!

Awarded Best of Zola
Thalia is amazing!! I met Thalia a few years back when she was my brother’s photographer for his wedding. I like Thalia energy and presents. Once I seen the wedding pictures…I knew who was going to be my photographer. My day was beautiful. Thalia captured the most special moments on my day. She went above and beyond! My bridal party and guest really enjoyed Thalia. My photos are unbelievable, they are stunning! I’m extremely happy that Thalia was our wedding photographer.

Sarah Fischback Photography

  • Starts at $2,800
  • Serves South San Francisco, CA
  • Offer

With a sparkling new ring on your finger & your dream venue secured - it's time to choose who you will entrust to capture the moments you will cherish forever. My name is Sarah and I am the head photographer at SFP. I have a love of working in natural light & creating bright, timeless & true tone images.

Awarded Best of Zola
TLDR: Sarah Fischback photography was perfect for our wedding! She worked with us every step of the way, had contingency plans and made our wedding day perfect. Why/what we chose: We booked her about a year out from our wedding in May 2024. We wanted someone who was local, with a great portfolio, and wasn’t a chain with multiple sites and a huge staff. She was flexible with the contract as we decided what we did and didn’t want. We decided on 1 photographer for 8 hours, 1 photographer for 6 hours & 1 videographer for 6 hours with an 8-10 min video of the day, plus a hard drive of pictures & footage. Leading up: We made payments in 3 installments over that year. We filled out a form which laid out specific shots we wanted, timeline for the day, and choose music for the video. 1 month before the wedding we had a phone call with Sarah directly to discuss all the plans. She answered every question we had and took great notes on a spreadsheet that she shared with us. She also told us that she was pregnant and would be due sometime soon after our wedding so she was planning to have the second photographer stay longer to help out in case she couldn’t do certain things, at no charge to us. The only “problem”: A week before the wedding Sarah texted us that she had gone into labor. This could easily have been one of those stressful last minute wedding issues, but she had an organized, thorough, and thoughtful contingency plan. She had her secondary photographer become the primary, and had another individual as her secondary. She filled them in on the plans of the day and everything was still a go! And Sarah still edited our photos. It was a bummer we wouldn’t have Sarah there, but given how everything had gone so far we trusted her and hoped for the best! Wedding day: The bridal party was met by Sara Fischer (our new primary) at a nearby hotel right on time for all the getting ready shots! Sean (secondary) arrived with Jose (videographer). They started with shots of the venue and groomsmen getting ready. The ceremony started and they just sort of blended in with the crowd, it was great! We didn’t have a wedding planner for making sure we were on time, but the photographers helped with this (not their job but super helpful). The reception went really well too! They worked hard and I hope I gave them a break to have some food as the day really got away from me! One of the other great things was I had a film camera and wanted some film photos and Sean took a bunch with it for me and I really appreciated that (I bought the film, developed, & scanned them & Sarah did edit some of them). Sara, Sean, and Jose were absolutely delightful people to have at the wedding and seemed truly happy to be there. Photo reveal: 2 weeks after the ceremony we got 8 sneak peaks and gave some feedback on coloring and lighting preferences! 8 weeks after the ceremony we got our photos! I honestly love every single photo they took! Absolutely no duds! Our video was 9 minutes long and beautiful! It is amazing to see all these shots of us and our guests, especially from times I didn’t even notice the cameras. Final thoughts: I cannot recommend Sarah Fischback enough. She did so much for us and made our day very special. I know the photographer is one of the most expensive parts of the wedding, but Sarah far exceeded my expectations and it was well worth it!

Hi there! I'm Sean, a Bay Area native who is pretty darn handy with a camera. I started my professional photography journey during the pandemic after losing my job working in STEM and Art Education. I decided to bet on myself and pursue my passion, which is to be a full-time photographer. What excites me most about being a photographer is the opportunity to create incredible art with amazing people. I love meeting new people and connecting with them. Wedding photography is so fulfilling because it requires so much trust, and seeing the joy from couples when they see their photos is truly magical.

Sean was very helpful and extremely professional! He was able to answer questions before we were even able to ask them, and even answered one’s we didn’t know we had. Also, the pictures were spectacular. Highly recommend

Angela Sue Photography was the perfect choice for our wedding photography. They were precise and thoughtful in their instructions and communication, which put us at ease throughout the day. Their work is very intentional and detail-oriented - they showed up promptly and made us feel like our day was their top priority. For example, Michael and Angela had memorized the names of our family members in advance, which made the group photos seamless and efficient. We 100% recommend Shelby for any of your event or wedding needs (and everything in between). We hired Shelby to photograph our post-elopement family celebration/party, and while I was worried about finding a photographer who would be willing to work outside the box and be flexible for our needs, she put my fears absolutely to rest. She was warm, kind, professional, and clear in all of her communication, over email and in person. During our party, she was friendly and put our guests at ease. A day or two after the event she provided a photo highlight preview, so we got to see some photos almost immediately (so appreciated) — the final photos we received were absolutely beautiful and reflected her attention to detail and her ability to see and capture so many of those sweet candid moments you only get when all of your people are in one place. We will absolutely be contacting her again, next chance we get!

Shuhan is an energetic, personable, and comforting photographer! It was looking as if we weren't going to be able to find a photographer that fit our wedding budget and needs, but by a stroke of luck, we found Shuhan! She is so kind and easy-going. She made me feel pretty even though I felt so awkward. She is awesome at hyping you up and making you feel special! We had a great mix of candid photos and stylized photos. Communication was great and she was open to hearing our ideas as well. Turn around time for the photos was good. Overall, the photography session felt collaborative and that's our style. Ripple Rain Photography

5.0

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves South San Francisco, CA

Nice to meet you, I am Sharyce. You are here which means you already know I like to take pictures. But WHY I take pictures is a different story. For nearly a decade I called myself a photographer because I picked up my camera occasionally and made some extra cash here and there. A version of myself now likes to look back and cringe at the photographer from a decade ago. However she (me) set the foundation for my career path today. When I became a mother I found that pictures had much more meaning behind them. Yes, I am going to go into the stereotypical photographers speil about “visual storytelling”.

Working with Ripple Rain Photography was an absolute dream from start to finish! From the moment we first connected, she was easygoing, approachable, and incredibly professional, putting us at ease throughout the entire process. As a gay couple, finding someone who truly understands and celebrates love in all its forms was so important to us, and Ripple Rain Photography exceeded all our expectations. She brought a warm, inclusive energy that made us feel seen, respected, and celebrated. Ripple Rain Photography was more than just a photographer; she was a genuine part of our special day. She engaged with us and our guests effortlessly, making everyone feel comfortable and capturing authentic, beautiful moments. Her ability to direct us naturally while also letting our personalities shine was a testament to her talent and experience. And the pictures—oh my goodness—the pictures are beyond stunning! Every shot radiates with love, joy, and the magic of the day. From candid moments to perfectly composed portraits, she has an eye for detail and creativity that brought our wedding memories to life. The quality of her work is unparalleled, and her work ethic is impeccable. She went above and beyond to ensure every moment was captured perfectly, even staying late to snap a few last-minute shots we requested. If you’re looking for a photographer who is professional, artistic, and truly passionate about her craft, look no further than Ripple Rain Photography. She is an absolute gem, especially for LGBTQ couples who want someone who “gets it” and makes the experience unforgettable. We cannot recommend her highly enough and will cherish her work forever. Thank you, Ripple Rain Photography, for capturing the best day of our lives so beautifully! Ivan & Tommy Sunderland

Located in SF. As a Photographer; I'm a storyteller. My imagery captures a harmony of raw emotion, authentic evanescent moments, and curated artistry. I believe in camaraderie with my couples to create beautiful memories, love stories shared over wine & a fire-pit and giving back with each wedding I book. I champion for kindness and giving back. My couples echo this right back. They are stylish, authentic and plan amazing details but also know how to pop the champagne and head to the dance floor.

It was my lucky day the day I met the Animus Art team at a bridal expo and won their free engagement photo shoot. When my (now) husband and I met with them over coffee (the way to their hearts, I found later) to talk about the shoot, I hadn't intended on choosing our wedding photographer then. We ended up loving their work so much...but more importantly, we fell in love with them as people. They have such a passion for what they do and for the people they work with, and it shows through in every conversation, every laugh, and every photo. My husband and I stayed after they left to discuss it, and we decided that day to choose them. We had lofty goals for our engagement shoot. We wanted to do a Pixar-inspired theme. I'm a perfectionist and had a vision of what I wanted. What we got was so much more. For our wedding photos...they captured moments I didn't know I needed. Some of my favorite shots are candid photos only their eyes would have seen. And once we found out we were pregnant, we immediately turned to them to not only help us capture the maternity and newborn moments, but the birth process as well. That's how close we've become with Pedro and Burcu...they were the only people we trusted to be in the room the moment our first child was born. The photographs are more than I could have hoped for, and looking at them brings tears to my eyes. They were able to capture so many emotions, and those photos are a gift I'll never be able to repay. I can't recommend them enough, and there aren't words for how much their dedication to those precious moments in our lives means to me. I can't imagine a special occasion without them...not only as photographers, but now as friends.

I like warm bear hugs and generous pours of rosé. I'm obsessed with my couples (in a totally sane, non-creepy way...) and get emotional after weddings are over because I start missing my couples and our partnership right away. I bring a fresh and fun approach to wedding photography - no awkward posing or forced moments here. Your bonus bridesmaid, professional third wheel and photographer extraordinaire: I'm here to make you feel like your best self while getting you down that aisle to your other half. Our photography is fun, fresh and focused on what matters MOST. West coast cool meets southern hospitality.

Paige was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding. Her communication was efficient, timely, and immediately made me feel comfortable. I could tell how extremely knowledgeable she was from the get go. The quality of her work was simply stunning - the photos are so memorable and captured all the special, candid moments of our big day. Paige was seriously such a blessing for so many reasons. She is extremely talented at what she does, not to mention, she's also an amazing human being! I could not love our photos more, seriously. The entire process from start to finish was great, as Paige was very attentive to details. For instance, once we decided on where to do our engagement photos, she created a mood board with links to different outfits and accessories she recommended for both me and my husband. If you're like me and ranked photography at the top of your list in importance, save yourself the stress and go with Paige.

Since starting wedding photography 5 years ago, I’ve been zeroed in on a documentary approach. I want the nervous looks at the altar and the proud smiles at the end of the night, the rare quiet moments and the hustle and bustle, the flower girls getting ready and the great uncle cracking jokes.. I want to document it all. And if you want to mix in some classic posed shots, too, we’ll get you the perfect shot for Grandma to hang on her wall. Whatever you want your day to be, I'll be there with you - and I’ll make sure we have proof of how beautifully *you* it was.

Simi killed our wedding photos and she was on it!!! didn’t have to ask her for anything she knew exactly what she was supposed to do! she will definitely be our photographer for all of our events now! 100/10 definitely recommend
