“Overall, we are happy with our wedding day. The Mansion is in the process of being renovated/restored and so far it is looking beautiful! The hotel rooms were recently updated and guests were happy with them. The food was also FANTASTIC! (All of our guests were raving about all of the food). They clearly are a well oiled machine when it comes to throwing weddings. We also had our welcome dinner there the night before, which went amazingly and there was so much food everyone was happy! However, there were a few hiccups that bothered us considering how much money is put into having a wedding & how this venue does weddings all.the.time. so expectations are high. In the planning process, the event coordinator position was replaced 3 times in the year we were planning our wedding with them, the last replacement being the week before our wedding. The final replacement did not have any of our vendor info or cake selections and called me 4 days before my wedding about it (...scary). It must've been a miscommunication from the coordinator prior to her, as that girl never responded to any of our emails; I'm sure she did not keep any notes. The current coordinator also could not answer simple questions our friends/family asked her and was very pushy. On our wedding day, I was paired with a Maitre D who was very sweet, but I'm not sure about her "years" of experience that she claimed to have. While taking photos with our photographer she wasn't paying attention and wasn't fixing my dress/veil every time wind blew it out of place so the photographer had to leave his place each time to fix it himself (it was a windy day so this happened a lot). The photographer also asked her to assist in a "veil toss" shot and she ripped the veil from my head, yanking my head back, when she was just supposed to toss it up in the air. It hurt and pulled on my hair style that was supposed to last all night. I mentioned before the food was excellent, and the Chef is incredible. However, when we booked our venue last year, we were adamant about wanting a real wedding cake--not a fake one you cut one slice into for pictures. We were told by one of the event planners there that all tiers were going to be real cake, but during our cake cutting, we cut into styrofoam...it was disappointing. The cake they served was delicious, but we thought we were paying for a real cake because we were told it would be 100% real. We probably would not have booked this venue had we known we'd get a fake cake; it was something my dad made sure to ask at every venue we checked out, it was important to him. Additionally, some rude comments were overheard by our guests made by various staff members about our wedding. As a business owner whose business is to also provide a service, that is absolutely unacceptable, especially while on the job where people can hear you. Jazmin, the Chef, and the front desk ladies were very pleasant and professional to work with, but no one else there seemed to know what they were doing. It ended up working out but again, with how many weddings this place throws, you'd expect a better level of professionalism.”

“The team at the Garden City Hotel was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the moment we first spoke with them, they were easy to communicate with and very responsive to all of our questions and requests. The space itself was absolutely stunning - the ballroom was beautifully decorated and the outdoor gardens provided a lovely backdrop for our photos. But what really made the day special was the outstanding service we received. The bridal attendant, Nang, was with me from the moment I put on my dress until the very end of the night, ensuring I had everything I needed and helping to make the day run smoothly. The events directors, Paul, Merril, and Jose, were also incredibly helpful, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the wedding went off without a hitch. We and all of our guests had an absolutely wonderful experience, and we can't thank the Garden City Hotel team enough for helping to make our special day so memorable.”

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
“We recently got married in Peekskill and stayed at the Abbey and had our rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, and morning after brunch there. The building and the grounds are beautiful. The food was very good and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and guests needs. The rooms were nice, spacious, and very clean. Everyone had positive things to say about the events held at the space. There are two things that bring down this review. The first is that the event/sales staff is very hard to get in touch with. We left countless voicemails and sent many emails that all went unanswered. The turnover of the staff was quite high, and we never knew who we were going to be speaking with. The second major issue was that there is only one elevator and no freight elevator. The morning of our wedding the elevator was out of service. There are only 2 stories to the hotel so that is not the issue, but the wheelchair accessible room, which a guest of ours who is in a wheelchair was given, was on the second floor. Thankfully the elevator was fixed and he was able to make it to our wedding, but in the event of an emergency, we don’t know what would have happened.”

“where do I even begin? Having our wedding with Ravel events exceeded our expectations more than I ever could have imagined. From start to finish everything was perfection thanks to our amazing coordinator that the Ravel provided us with Eman. From day one Eman was there to guide me and support me through the whole wedding process. everyone was saying I was one of the most chill brides and I honestly think it’s because of how easy Eman and the Ravel made this experience! On the wedding day, I was assigned a bridal attendant, Jadelyn. I wasn't quite sure what to expect since we had never met before, but she quickly became one of the highlights of my day. She was kind, attentive, hardworking, and always one step ahead of anything I needed. From the moment I met her, I felt completely at ease, as though I had another friend by my side throughout the day. The food, the views, the service… No notes. It was a dream. The week leading up to the wedding I was really nervous since the weather was predicting rain the day of the wedding. Eman gave me many different options to make sure my day would go exactly the way I wanted despite rain, but she was still very hopeful and positive that it would clear up. Fortunately, for us, no rain, beautiful clear skies, and our dream rooftop ceremony was able to happen. Plus, we got the most beautiful sunset. The thing about the Ravel is that it faces the city so you get the most beautiful views of Manhattan. Views that guest still are raving about and almost every guest has a new profile picture on their Instagram and Facebook of them at the Ravel with the view! And top it off the night was so perfect that Eman was able to open the roof of the penthouse for us to have the most dreamy night under the stars. If you’re thinking about having your wedding at the Ravel, do not even double think it. It was the most perfect planning experience and the most perfect night. Thank you to everyone at the Ravel, especially Eman and Jadelyn!”

“Having a Celebration of Life was definitely more focused on the positives of a sad occasion but it's nonetheless stressful. You still have all of the responsibilities of the hostess and getting your relatives there on time and making decisions prior to the event. I can't thank the staff at the Benjamin enough for guiding me through the process and for handling everything when we got there. I really didn't feel like I had much to handle when we got there. We were able to decorate the way we wanted to and were provided with a tv to run a slide show. One more thing...the food was great!”

“Our wedding turned out to be incredibly beautiful, thanks to a unique venue and execution by its staff. However, that perfect day was almost derailed by the unacceptable pressure campaign to change ceremony locations due to concerns over furniture getting wet. We wanted this review to capture our nearly 20 months of planning with the TWA Hotel. PLANNING PROS: -Variety of spaces -Responsiveness -Flexibility for storing supplies CONS: -No FAQ document -Frustrating room block system -Forgotten menu tasting notification -Lack of communication and contradictory info from the Paris Cafe for rehearsal dinner THE WEDDING PROS: -Organized and accommodating staff -The food, especially the pastrami station and red velvet cake for dessert CONS: -Wrong display with typo on Solaris board in the Sunken Lounge -Our tiered wedding cake wasn’t cut and served even tho there clearly wasn’t enough sheet cake to pass around -The weather “policy”: We were told that we could make a final decision on an outdoor ceremony up until the morning of our wedding, and our point of contact reassured us of this during our final walkthru 2 weeks out. Our contract also secured the Sunken Lounge as the backup option if we chose to move indoors. However, in the final days and hours before our wedding, we were pressured to move our ceremony indoors, despite nearly all weather reports showing clear skies for our 5-6pm ceremony and rain only after 9pm. Our point of contact started questioning our outdoor plans 4-5 days before the wedding, and even met with us multiple times - first in the lobby while we were dropping off supplies 2 days before our wedding, again when we were checking in the next day, and yet again when we were at the pool before our rehearsal dinner, where we had to brush off our guests in order to have a serious meeting. Each time, they told us we needed to make a "final call" now, not the morning-of as we had been told before. After listing their reasons to move the ceremony indoors (which included threatening to release the Sunken Lounge from our backup option, despite what our contract said), the point of contact mentioned that the head manager was concerned about the rain damaging the leather chairs, and then proposed a “solution” of having the ceremony outside, but not setting up any chairs so that our guests would stand for the entire ceremony. It was clear to us that the real reason why we were being pressured was that the manager didn’t want their leather chairs to get wet! We asserted that, unless we were explicitly told we couldn't have our ceremony outside, we would stick with the outdoor option. The morning of our wedding, our day-of coordinator informed us that the venue was insisting they now had a “50% chance of rain policy”, giving them the “right” to change ceremony locations. We immediately forwarded reports from 10 weather sites that all had a chance of rain between 5-7pm at 0-30%. We finally saw chairs being set up outside in the mid-afternoon, and when our ceremony got underway, the clouds parted ways and the sun started shining. CONCLUSION: The TWA Hotel is such a special place to celebrate your wedding! Before you sign the contract, however, understand that you’ll have to stay on top of the planning process, and in cases like ours, fight for what you envision. Make sure the contract spells out any and all promises — there were items that we made sure they honored as it was clear the hotel’s policies had changed since the signing.”

“Where do we begin?! We are so happy we choose the Wythe and so incredibly grateful to the entire team for making our wedding dreams come true!

JD and Cassie have been exceptional to work with - from the minute we met them at our initial tour we knew we were in amazing hands! They always promptly and kindly answered our emails, and all our changes never seemed to be a problem. They truly supported and cared for us every step of the way, and made the entire process not just easy, but fun! In addition to Cassie and JD, the entire team at the Wythe - from hotel porters, to bar and wait staff - were so incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. Seriously 10/10 hospitality from the entire team. And I can’t leave a review without mentioning the tasting night that they offer - it was by far our favorite part of the entire wedding planning process, and such a fun - and delicious - date night!! (OMG the food and beverage from Le Crocodile is so so so good!). We count ourselves so lucky to be part of the Wythe Wedding alumni and can’t wait to return year after year for our anniversary!”

“Absolutely stunning venue! We had our September 2025 wedding at The W Loft, and it was a total hit. The view speaks for itself, so much so that you don't even need to worry about extravagant decor because of it. There are also so many gorgeous spots nearby to take photos, like the parks near the water, as well as hotels to stay at. The BK Venues team was very easy to work with, and the process from start to finish was very smooth. Would definitely recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking to host a Brooklyn wedding!”

The Standard, East Village
Rating: 4.0 (1 review)
New York, NY
  • Up to 50 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor

Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan from the hotel's crowned jewel, The Penthouse. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level that in the warmer months is filled with lush topiaries and floral arrangements, and in the cold season transforms into a magical winter wonderland. On the second floor, The Overlook is a cozy room perfect for a rehearsal dinner or cocktails, connected to The Perch which overlooks The Garden. Downstairs, there's Narcissa restaurant, which boasts its own private terrace, the street-side Café Standard, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with custom artwork and a disco ball.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Exudes style
  • Has an intimate feel for a small guest list
  • Private area for the wedding party

Venue considerations

  • Lighting and sound are not included
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Better for more intimiate events
“Having never been privy to what goes into a wedding reception, I was in the dark about a lot. So, I had difficulty understanding what to choose and how much our choices would cost. If it wasn’t for the close proximity to the church, I may have chosen a different venue for our reception. The food and beverage was the biggest expense and the biggest source of confusion. The real disappointment of the F&B was the limited amount of food. The shrimp appetizer was good. However, there was so little, if you didn’t grab some, it was gone. Of the three entrees to choose from, the only one that was any good was the fish and the portion was less than one would reasonably expect for an entree. The chicken was dry and hard, a huge disappointment. The lemon tart dessert was good. The space itself is very nice. Fortunately, it was just the right size for our reception.”

“I hosted my wedding at The Lofts at Prince Street and I had the most gorgeous time! I rented the rooftop for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and the penthouse top floor for our reception. From the start, Claudia was absolutely amazing to work with. She is confident, thoughtful, and kind. Throughout planning our wedding, Claudia was an excellent help. She was responsive, answering my questions thoughtfully and always very quickly. On our wedding day, I found her presence very calming and reassuring. The Lofts get many guests per week, but I felt like Claudia took the time to get to know me and my husband, and really made us feel special. Our wedding was about 25 people, and the space fit us perfectly. The rooftop gives you the money shot. Even our hardest to please guests complimented our venue multiple times. You get gorgeous, 360 views of the Manhattan skyline, but you are high above street level so excessive noise was not a problem. I talked through my vision with Claudia on our walkthrough, and her team took care of so much before I even arrived. The penthouse room is a blank canvas that you can decorate any way you wish. The exposed brick and clean walls are a really cool starting point, but I was absolutely blown away by how the room transformed into a better vision than I could have even imagined. There is a private suite in the back that we used to get ready in. It was very fun to take photos there and I felt safe tucked away before my guests arrived. The space is also very clean! Having a suite in the back allowed me to arrive early to the venue and get centered before the ceremony began. If you are not familiar with NYC, the Lofts are in a really fun location! You are central to many hotels and subway lines, so it’s easy to access. The venue is surrounded by cafes, green spaces, and restaurants. And you are a short walk from many bars if you want an after party. Even if your wedding is larger, I would highly recommend the Lofts for a shower or even an event. I am so thankful we opted for the Lofts at Prince Street, it was a really great choice!”

They offer an all-inclusive package that, at the time of our wedding, included the entire second floor for the day of our event, linens for tables, catering, and staffing for the entire day. We were also able to book the Ace Suite and have a hotel block for a discounted rate for our guests. The catering team was amazing and was very accommodating for different dietary restrictions that I, some guests, and vendors each had. We can’t thank Tricia, Susannah, and Paul enough for their helping us bring everything together! Photographer: Kara McCurdy”

Quick responses, and really worked with us to deliver exactly what we wanted for our big day - even with some ridiculous requests. The food was incredible, setup was better, and the vibe was one that our friends and family STILL talk about to this day....6 years later! I actually can't write enough good things about this venue. It was the best day of our life, pulled off effortlessly. My husband and I are actually already planning to do a 10-year anniversary party there - at our guests' requests! “We had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer and other staff members at the Heritage Hotel for our wedding. Jennifer was always available to answer any questions I had along the way and gave us a tour of the venue multiple times. We had our rehearsal dinner there and they set up the room beautifully. The food for both the rehearsal and wedding were delicious and there was something for everyone to enjoy. They even offer centerpieces for the tables and to set up and break down decor and assign you a maitre de for the day of that is always getting you drinks and making sure you're comfortable. The venue is so beautiful and made for the best pictures! It's also super convenient that the ceremony, reception, after party, and hotel are all in the same location so there's no need to worry about traveling. The only down fall was that we lost power the night before the wedding for a couple hours and was surprised they didn't have a generator. But would definitely recommend having your wedding at the Heritage as it's a beautiful place with professional staff who are guaranteed to make you feel so important on your special day.”

“There are moments in life that you hope will be perfect, and your child's wedding is certainly one of them. I am so grateful that we chose Hotel Indigo Riverhead to host our son's welcome dinner and farewell brunch. We welcomed nearly 90 family members and friends, and from beginning to end, every single person we encountered treated us with kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality. A very special thank you to Joseph at the front desk. He patiently helped several of our guests with booking issues and always greeted everyone with a smile. On top of that, he somehow managed to graciously accommodate my endless questions and last-minute requests without ever making me feel like I was imposing. And then there was Cristen, the Director of Catering. I honestly don't know how to thank her enough. Wedding planning can be overwhelming, and there were plenty of times I reached out with "just one more question" or "one more favor." She never once made me feel like I was asking too much. Instead, she was encouraging, reassuring, and almost always found a way to say "yes." She truly cared about making our events special, and it showed in every detail. The food was wonderful, the service was exceptional, and the entire team made us feel like family rather than just another event on the calendar. To everyone at Hotel Indigo Riverhead—thank you for helping create memories that our family and friends will cherish for a lifetime. You played a meaningful part in one of the most important weekends of our lives, and for that we are incredibly grateful. If you're considering a venue for a wedding weekend, rehearsal dinner, brunch, family celebration, or corporate event, I recommend Hotel Indigo Riverhead without hesitation. “The Madison Hotel was a fantastic choice for our wedding venue. From the moment we first walked in, we knew it was the one and stopped searching all together. It was our first venue we looked at, and our last. After we reached out, Joseph was very attentive to our needs and answered all of our questions promptly. The conservatory is absolutely stunning - it provided the outdoor feel we were originally looking for, like a garden, but with the security of a roof in case of weather mishaps which was definitely on our radar since it was a September wedding. Food was great, and there’s plenty of it! Our guests were blown away by the food and the beautiful, unique space, and the quality of service was top-notch. We couldn't have asked for a better venue to celebrate our special day. It was truly stress free since the wedding package included most of what you’d need. It is certainly a memory we will never forget. Looking at our professional photos, it really captured the beauty of it all.”
