The name Arrae (pronounced [uh-rey]) came from my first initial and my middle name, Rae, added an extra r and made a new word. When I was 12 I saved up my babysitting money to buy my first 'big time' camera. I formed Arrae Photography in 2003 as a part-time venture while I worked at local photo labs, went full time in 2008.

HEY! I'm Liv Lyszyk Maxwell (pronounced LY-zick, blame it on my Polish and Ukrainian roots) and I am a 20-something wedding and portrait photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Most days you can find me designing for my other business Liv Lyszyk Prints, wearing leggings (I don't do zippers), and eating too much sushi. I spend my time fighting for equity in the interest of all marginalized groups. I am always looking for my next travel adventure whether that be to a new town on lake Michigan, or half way around the world, I want to see it all.

When asked when I first knew I wanted to be a photographer, it's hard to pinpoint a specific time, as I feel I have always had an eye for photography. From ripping up magazines, photoshoots with friends, the rise of Tumblr & Instagram, to taking a 35mm black & white film photography class in high school, going on to get my BFA in photography, and establishing my business - photography is truly in everything I do. I have been photographing weddings for over 7 years now. My work is a combination of unfiltered documentary, funky fashion editorial, and timeless fine art with a modern twist.

The Cheney Place is a warehouse for those who can't wait to design their "urban meets vintage meets modern" wedding. We hope our building will woo you with its polished concrete and original hardwood floors, its frosted warehouse windows, and it's turn of the century freight elevator. The open format and crazy flexible space screams of possibility. And we just happen to host the area's largest collection of vintage furniture rentals onsite to make design a whole lot easier.
