How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“When I was looking for a woodsy venue to get married at on the east coast, I stumbled upon Woodsgate at Stroudsmoor and it immediately stood out to me! We could get married surrounded by trees, with the ease of an all inclusive reception a short walk away. When we visited and saw the woodland chapel, even in the middle of winter, my breath was taken away and I wanted to cry because of how perfect and beautiful it is. It’s very secluded and has a lit-up walk to the ceremony site up an adorable path, and the reception hall has a cozy homey feel, while being straight out of a fantasy novel. We didn’t need much floral decor because of how beautiful everything is already, but the floral we did get was the perfect finishing touch, and I’m still obsessing over my bouquet. Aside from the gorgeous fairytale setting, the service was phenomenal and both our planner, Malia, and the staff were there to see to all our needs and make the day as stress-free and easygoing as possible. Malia was always quick to answer any questions, and was very willing to bring our unconventional ideas like Rock Band karaoke at the reception to life. Sometimes with all-inclusive venues you’re limited with customizing the wedding but that was not at all the case with Stroudsmoor. Everyone was so kind, professional, and our guests raved about the incredible food and service. I couldn’t imagine getting married at a more perfect place, and highly recommend this to anyone looking to have their own whimsical woodland wedding!!”

“Our wedding was on November 2024 and Caio and his team at Deity had made it such an easy process! Let’s rewind a bit to when my wife and I were venue shopping. We had initially stumbled upon Deity through their amazing reviews and reached out to Caio to see if we can take a tour of the venue. His response time was faster than any of the other places that I’ve reached out to and he has been so accommodating to my schedule to tour. Upon touring the place, it was such a “Brooklyn vibe” with the exposed brick in the loft as well as the amazing cellar and dance floor. Its unique structure was also a great selling point for us as all of the places were isolated on a specific floor. The highlight was certainly the wedding suite on the top floor! After our tour, we knew that this was the place for our wedding. Initially, we were planning a micro wedding but having physically looked at the venue, we opted for the all-inclusive wedding along with the bridal suite option. Honestly, the prices were too good not to go for it. Caio and his team thankfully had the exact date we wanted for our wedding. Planning for the wedding was such a breeze thanks to Caio and his team. They would periodically reach out to coordinate the wedding and any questions I had would prompt an immediate response from his team. Caio’s team coordinated everything with my additional vendors and honestly made planning so easy. All I had to do was just tell his team what I wanted for the wedding. Inching closer to the day of, we had scheduled a food tasting with Chef James so we had a better idea of what to pick for the menu. If you have the budget for it, certainly opt for the tasting. Chef James is a master at what he does. Every single plate of food that was presented was meticulously explained and not to mention delicious! One of the biggest things that guests care about at a wedding is the food and let me tell you, the food was delicious. We had our reservations of whether or not there would be enough food given it was family-style, but all of our guests were well fed and full. After the wedding, our guests wouldn’t stop talking about the food! On the day of the wedding, we had access to the venue in the morning to bring our outfits to the wedding suite. This area was great as it provided the perfect space for us, along with friends and family to get ready. Hair and makeup were all done in the wedding suite prior to the wedding. Guests upon arrival were directed by staff and for welcome drinks and taken to the loft prior to the ceremony. After the ceremony, we were directed back to the wedding suite for a chance for the two of us to enjoy some snacks and take a breather while guests were enjoying cocktail hour. Halfway throughout cocktail hour, we were guided back to mingle with guests and then went back upstairs for the reception. After enjoying a wonderful meal, it was time to party down at the cellar. DJ BenHa had such a great playlist and guests enjoyed a wonderful night of dancing. Plus, the open bar concept and specialty cocktails curated by the bartending team were such a hit. Even to this day, when I speak to guests, they can’t stop talking about our wedding. If you want an affordable, all-inclusive, all-planned out wedding, Deity is your bet. Caio and his team will ensure that your wedding will be stress-free and a breeze.”

“From the moment we were introduced to Chicago Winery, they truly lived up to their reputation for exceptional hospitality. We toured Walden in June 2024 and we couldn't help but compare every other venue we looked at to Walden because Walden was - simply put - the BEST! Even before we officially signed with Walden, we felt very taken care of by Maria who gave us our tour and she assured us we'd feel that way with our planners and day-of coordinators, which she was spot on about! We were super impressed by the physical space (the tall ceilings! brick walls! gorgeous ceremony and getting ready space!) and by the bartender-to-guest ratio (highly recommend asking about this at venues if you have a lively guest list like we did!), but our Walden planners are what made our day SO special and truly stress-free. Krystle and Katie Rose (our wedding planners) were thoughtful, professional, encouraging, creative and fun throughout the entire process. I remember them saying "we like to have our couples in a bubble on the day of" meaning they would be around to coordinate everything from steaming dresses, to making sure the bus knew where to park, to ensuring all of us ate, and more! Krystle and Katie Rose provided helpful deadlines, documents (like a "details" check list) and vendor recommendations to us throughout the planning process, and I appreciated their honesty when it came to vendors we were inquiring about. They truly are experts in their craft and were such a joy to work with. I don't think I ever waited more than 24 hours for a response from either of them. Day of, there were several coordinators at all times, so we felt very taken care of. The food and drinks were out of this world. We got so many compliments from guests about the appetizers, the flow of dinner, and the kind bartenders. Another perk of Walden is that it hosts an incredible, unique tasting for couples. Walden hosts several couples and their guests at the same time, so you can see what the space looks like when it's full, you can see how accommodating the catering and bar staff are, and you can sample the delicious food and drinks. The location can't be beat, especially for guests staying downtown and if you want to take photos in the city with your wedding party. We know we'll be back at Walden for future weddings since so many of our friends were SO impressed by the venue and staff. Thanks, Walden!!!”

“Choosing The Wheeler House was the single greatest decision my husband and I made when it came to our wedding. The venue is unbelievably charming, and we fell in love with it on our first visit. The team makes wedding planning so easy with the all inclusive model, and it took so much stress off of us during our engagement. The entire staff was incredibly helpful, and made our wedding day run absolutely seamlessly. Our coordinator, Ashley, was an absolute lifesaver. She helped bustle my dress when no one else could figure out how to, brought my husband and I drinks and appetizers during our family pictures, and kept us from running behind schedule all night. Our wedding was the best day of our lives, and we have the entire Wheeler House team to thank for that. If we could go back and do it again, we would choose them every time!”

All of our guests – from NYC locals to out-of-towners – commented on how magical the venue and the setting were. Alfonso, Kat and Amelia were thoughtful, attentive and SO thorough. They are total pros, and also just lovely people. In addition to all of the beautiful decor, food and ambiance, I have included a photo of Alfonso hand delivering a cocktail to me because he wanted to ensure I enjoyed myself while chatting with the guests. Not pictured: when he brought plates of food to my husband and I to make sure we got to eat! Cannot recommend it more highly!”

“We could not have asked for a better experience at Green Acres. From the moment we toured it we knew it was the one. It has so much character compared to some of these new "modern" venues that are just plain and require a lot of decorating from your end, which we did not want. The staff was super friendly and communicative from the very beginning- They are so organized and I felt like I was in such good hands throughout the whole wedding planing process. Megan specifically was so wonderful and really payed attention to detail to make sure our vision came to life all the way through our special day! I would definitely recommend Green Acres for a "outside of the city" feel without the long drive!”

We planned our wedding all the way from Chicago and not once did they stop communicating with me! They always kept me updated and would contact me with new information. They were also so nice about zoom meeting since I lived so far away! I’m also extremely thankful for Shannon our wedding coordinator! She kept up with our schedule even when we had huge set backs. She made sure I ate and requested for no one to come up while I ate. She took on that role and told everyone to wait until I was done. We had 50 guests at our August, Saturday, daytime wedding. I was so grateful for the transparency Flagstaff House provided with costs associated with the wedding. There were no surprise fees added onto the bill. Everything was such a dream when it came to our venue choice. Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. “I cannot say enough wonderful things about this beautiful venue. From the time we set foot on property in 2022 to tour the venue, it instantly felt like home. Everyone who works here is so kind, and they always greet you with a smiling face. Communication is A with this team! I NEVER had any wedding stress related to the venue itself. They get back to you with any questions or concerns within a few days and that’s even pushing it, sometimes it was same day- this was not the case of friends of ours who got married at different venues. Becca, Alyssa, Courtney, and Sam were who we primarily dealt with and they were all fabulous, professional, and pleasant. Sam was our DIY coordinator/wedding day manager and just LOVED that we planned to have our Rottweiler in our wedding from the moment we met her at the dessert tasting and I think that really resonated with me- fellow dog moms unite! When she met him she greeted him with open arms and it was like they were long lost buddies. Sam was at The Farm when my hair and makeup artists arrived and she helped carry their things up the stairs to the suite- they were both blown away and said a venue had NEVER offered to help them like that before. They even declined the help out of courtesy and she said “ No I WANT to help you” and rushed up the stairs with them and their belongings. They felt so welcomed. I am the most meticulous person I know when it comes to decor so I bought all of my own, and met with Sam about specifics. She instantly knew what to do with all of it and it was so perfect. Courtney was our day of coordinator, and recorded our first dance for us on her phone and uploaded it to a google drive for us- as it was the only video we have of it so far while waiting for our videographer to send us it! She must have ran miles on that day to make sure the day went smoothly and it didn’t go unnoticed. She kept running drinks and apps to us during cocktail hour. We appreciated her so much. Our guests raved over the food, we used Julie with 2 Little Piggy’s. Communication with Julie was also outstanding. The drinks were always flowing and guests still cannot get over it. The dessert table provided by The Farm was to die for. We had shooters, apple dumplings, and mini cupcakes in our wedding cake flavor. I had to go back to The Farm the week after our wedding to pick up something we left behind and teared up pulling into the parking lot because I couldn’t believe the day was over and we had to say goodbye to The Farm staff. They truly become like family and there is no venue around that will give you this homey feeling. We will be back for the Christmas market! (The market is straight out of a hallmark movie- must go!). THANK YOU to the entire team at this venue- you made our day so special and we could not have asked for more!”

“We are so grateful to Bay Pointe (especially Ashley, Juno, and Lauren) for helping us host a spectacular event. We had our event at the Bay Pointe Pavilion and it was so lovely. We had a gorgeous evening and the weather was perfect. The grounds were beautiful with early June flowers blooming. Bay Pointe also had added more ceremony space flowers which really made it look even better. The food was great and everyone loved our drink menu. Overall, Bay Pointe made everything so easy that day because of how comprehensive the services they offer are. Everyone commented to us that we had the most peaceful, stress-free wedding they had been to in a long time. Even for myself as the bride/wedding planner, I felt like everything was handled and I could actually relax and enjoy the day.”

Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.
