Rose & Fern Events

  • Planner

My event philosophy is centered around the people. Not just the couple, but all the wonderful friends and family who are sharing this day with you. Decorations are an important and lovely part of a wedding, but I try to always remember why we spend all this time and resources on a party - because we want the people we love to celebrate with us. If this sounds like your priority, we will probably be a good fit!

Kaila is really great! We hired her as our day-of coordinator for our recent micro wedding and it was absolutely one of the best decisions we made. She was able to advise us on the event timeline, toast procedure, etc. in the months leading up to the big day, which was incredibly helpful since we'd never done this before. She also attended our rehearsal and helped make sure everything ran smoothly and everyone knew the plan. She was great at collaborating with our officiant during this process as well. But it was the day of the event when she really shined. As the bride, I didn't want to have to think about any logistics at the venue while I was getting ready and with Kaila, I didn't have to! She sent me one quick question via text that morning that I was glad to weigh in and otherwise, she totally took care of the rest. The venue looked amazing, everything ran like clockwork, and she made sure to keep us in the loop when (and only when) it was necessary. She even brought us some appetizers to snack on while we were waiting on a vendor to arrive to bustle my dress so that we didn't miss out on our own food! If you're looking for a great partner to provide just that little extra coordination the day of your event, I highly recommend Kaila!

Adeline Farms was the perfect venue for our wedding day. From the moment we first reached out, the staff was personalized, sweet, accommodating, and incredibly detailed in their communication. This authentic farm-chic setting was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was amazing from start to finish and made the day seamless and special for everyone. Adeline Farms is a beautiful location close to the Lewis River, and Harold the Oak Tree was a stunning backdrop to our ceremony that also provided much needed shade for our mid-July wedding. We loved the ability to build out our package the way that suited us best, including preferred vendors, flowers, providing our own alcohol with no corkage, and not having to use an outside wedding planner. They did an outstanding job on the floral/overall decorations and made our vision come to life. In addition, we utilized the on-site home for two nights - hosting our rehearsal dinner there and the after party the night of our wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better venue and highly recommend Adeline Farms to any couple looking for a unique and memorable wedding experience.

Merry and Flora
Rating: 5.0 (7 reviews)
  • Florist
  • Starts at $2,000
  • Serves Kalama, WA

We are a mother /daughter duo who nearly spend every waking minute thinking about, dreaming up and planning beautiful ways to celebrate love with flowers and creating dreamlike immersive guests experiences.

My husband and I could not have been more pleased with the beautifully created space Merry designed and executed for our wedding! We were married in our contemporary church, a challenging space to develop intimacy and gentle beauty. After consulting with Merry, we immediately felt she comprehended our vision. We quickly moved forward with a floral color palette and she offered helpful design advise, developing a floral arch on the buffet table which we used on the stage. The result was whimsical, romantic and created a lovely backdrop for our photos. My bouquet brought tears to my eyes, just the right touch of color to accent my ivory dress. We highly recommend Merry and Flora, start to finish our expectations were met and exceeded, eliminating stress and creating memories of our special day which we will always treasure!

We’re Dakota and Greg, the husband-and-wife duo behind Better Together Tap Truck. I’m a teacher, Greg works at Backwoods Brewing, and we run this small business from our home with a lot of heart. When we planned our own wedding, we wanted a mobile bar, but everything seemed outrageously expensive. So we have been serving Oregon and Washington for 5 years now, and it has truly been an honor. Being invited into such a major milestone in people’s lives is something we don’t take lightly. Every wedding, every toast, every moment shared around our truck has meant the world to us, and we are so grateful to be a small part of your big day.

  • Serves Kalama, WA

Hi! My name is Mandy and I’m a makeup artist in Washington state specializing in bridal and beauty pageants. I have over 17 years experience in a professional setting and have really decided bridal is where I’m meant to be. I love every part of it and look forward to seeing the uniqueness that each bride brings. I always leave each wedding/bridal party, feeling honored to have been a part of the day.

I did a trial run with Mandy and she was super receptive to feedback and changes for the big day. I felt so glamorous and beautiful, and my makeup lasted all day without touch ups! She also did a natural look for my wife and made her feel so comfortable and at ease as someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup day-to-day. She is an absolute dream to work with, doesn’t gatekeep techniques or products, and truly made me feel so relaxed and pampered on our big day. I would get married all over again just to have her do my makeup!

I didn’t care about saving flowers. Nor did I want to spend thousands of dollars for flowers. They arrived the week of the wedding in a box. They put the shipping label in a pocket on the box. I slapped that label back on and sent them on their merry way back. It was the most simplest thing I have ever done. This is the way to do it. They were also gorgeous.

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

The custom recipes she created were incredibly helpful and gave me the perfect guidance to DIY the flowers of my dreams. Here are some pictures of my bouquet, my bridesmaids’ bouquets, and the ceremony/reception arrangements. I couldn’t recommend Flower Moxie enough—and fingers crossed you get the amazing Alexa to help make your flower dreams come true too!

My husband and I used Direct Entertainment for our DJ and videographer for our wedding and we could not be more pleased!! The team was professional, great at communication, very kind and professional, and they helped make our day absolutely perfect! Jeff, our DJ kept the dance floor alive ALL NIGHT!! When the music had to stop at the end of the night, the dance floor was still completely full and no one wanted it to end. He did a great job announcing the events of the night, made sure that our ceremony music was perfect, and he stuck to our wedding playlist with the exception for a couple guest requests (which we were happy to allow). We were so happy and thankful to have Jeff there! Sie, our videographer also did a wonderful job! We have not yet received our video as our wedding was less than 2 weeks ago, but I already know it is going to be amazing. He was so great with communication, was prompt with his timing, and he even set up a second camera for guests to break away and give us well wishes for our marriage, which I'm so excited to watch back. He was very professional and wonderful to work with. We decided to add videography at the last minute because we thought we might regret not having it, and I am SO happy we asked Jim at Direct Entertainment if they had someone available for our day just a month before, and they did!! Jim, the coordinator at Direct Entertainment frequently checked in with us, asked us questions about ourselves, and genuinely made us feel like he cared about us and our special day. He was great to work with leading up to being assigned our designated DJ and videographer, and even after, he checked in to make sure we were happy and that all of the planning was going well. Overall, we would 1000% recommend Direct Entertainment for any wedding entertainment needs! I know they also offer several other services that we did not utilize, and I'm sure they are wonderful as well! Photos courtesy of Lang at Wandering Wolf Photography.

I love my job. For me, it’s kind of two-fold. One amazing part of the job is knowing that you are part of a couple’s most memorable day of their life—and assuming it goes well, they will remember you for it for the rest of their life. The other part is that I get to run a business and listen to music—two of my deepest passions. So running a DJ company mashes it all together in one great package.

Awarded Best of Zola
DJ Steven and Stumptown were excellent! DJ Steven, while being a Tier 2 DJ, was more like a Tier 10! We really wanted a fun and populated dancefloor at our wedding and DJ Steven delivered! He was great at reading the crowd and playing songs that got everyone on their feet. He also surprised us by bringing a bubble gun, lights, and a 360 cam. What was most spectacular was that DJ Steven also created a special mix for our first dance so that we could do a fun choreographed dance to it. Our guests absolutely loved it, and we couldn’t be more thankful to Steven for making it happen. He helped us select songs for all phases of the wedding and was able to really set the mood throughout the entire event. We received numerous compliments from guests about how the wedding was so upbeat and had an awesome party atmosphere; DJ Steven was a large part of that! Stumptown and DJ Steven were very organized and all wedding details were easy to communicate via their portal. We asked a lot from them, and they definitely delivered an amazing event. Big thanks to DJ Steven and Stumptown DJ’s!

Exceptional Wedding Photography Experience I recently had the pleasure of working with a Ben and his team (shout out Mike!!), Promani Weddings, whose talent and professionalism made our wedding day truly unforgettable. From the moment we met, it was clear that he wasn't just there to take pictures—he was invested in ensuring our special day was captured in the most beautiful and authentic way possible. -Personable and Friendly Approach One of the standout qualities of our photographer was his warm and personable demeanor. He immediately put us at ease, making us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process. This was especially appreciated during those hectic pre-ceremony moments when nerves were running high. His ability to connect with us and our guests on a personal level created an atmosphere of trust and camaraderie, which translated into natural and genuine photographs. -Unique Candid Photography Technique What truly set our photographer apart was his innovative use of candid photography. Instead of staging every shot, he discreetly captured spontaneous moments that perfectly encapsulated the emotions and relationships of everyone present. This approach resulted in photos that felt alive and authentic, reflecting the true essence of the love and joy we experienced that day. Looking through our wedding album, we were amazed at how he managed to capture moments we didn't even realize were happening, yet are now some of our most cherished memories. If you’re on the fence about doing candid photography for your wedding, this is your sign to DO IT! -Superb Communication and Understanding Throughout the planning process, our photographer was incredibly communicative and attentive. The photographer, Jonathan, and his assistant, were absolutely amazing. They arrived early, were flexible and really accommodating to our vision. They also really hustled! They took advantage of every spare moment they had to get additional photos, and kept us on schedule super tightly. They even carried around things like bottles of water for me (the bride) as we took lots of photos in the hot upper floor of the venue. Many guests also mentioned how beautifully the photos turned out. However, we did have an issue in which, due to an injury to the editor's hand, we did not receive our photos in the agreed-upon timeframe. Had we been informed of this delay ahead of time, we would not have had any issue just waiting a bit longer. The main concern was that we weren't alerted of this delay until after the initial deadline had passed. We did request a discount due to this, which they accommodated. And the photos did still turn out amazing!

The Faux Bouquets
Rating: 5.0 (42 reviews)
  • Florist
  • Starts at $175
  • Serves Kalama, WA

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

I’m so glad we went with the Faux Bouquets for our wedding florals. Everything was beautiful and nobody believed me when I said they weren’t live flowers. If you are worried about how they will look, DONT be!!! There is a great variety of flowers on their website and I am so happy with how everything turned out. If you are renting flowers, the return process is SO easy!
