How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“We live in Massachusetts but my husband is from Sarasota so we wanted to get married in Florida. Bakers Ranch made everything so easy especially since we were from out of town. The entire planning process was relatively stress free because they include and help with so much. The fact that I had someone to email with and ask questions the entire year of planning was huge. Missy was our day of coordinator and she made sure everything ran smoothly. It really took away stress on the wedding day. They provide almost all vendors but you still get a choice (shout out to DJ Rafael with Grant Hemond, Blue Water Catering & Tampa Bay Cake Co). While we wished there was an additional dinner catering option (there were only 2) we were still very happy with Blue Water. They can also help with outside vendors and give recommendations. I highly recommend this venue and it felt like the best bang for our buck!”

“It all started in October 2022 when Michael and I bought a house in the area. We were driving around to explore and stubbled upon Ridgecrest. I had always wanted to get married on the side of a cliff. I said wouldn't it be so cool to get married here? Right in our town? Fast forward to seeing an ad for Stroudsmoor wedding expo. I wasn't even engaged and I booked us two tickets. It was just one day before the expo, when Michael proposed. I only had one venue in mind. Ridgecrest. When I would tell people where I was getting married at, I will never forget what everyone said; "it is so pretty there and the staff take such great care of you". And oh my gosh, YES do they ever take care of you! I can have panic attacks but the staff kept me focused. I was well care for with patience and love. I learned new techniques to distract me from anxiety that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Belkis, Corinne, Kaylie, Becca, Corinne's sister and Carolyn. You ladies kept me together. At the end of wedding night, I have received nothing but positive compliments of how stunning my wedding was. It was the best wedding some guests had attended. The most beautiful. The happiest. Room was filled with love and everyone could feel it. Guests told me the food was great. So much food. So many IPA choices. Appetizers were great. Band was awesome. Venue stunning. Views of the valley gorgeous. Live painter was amazing. Hair and make-up made my girls into bombshells. A luxury deluxe wedding. I went all out for this wedding. Deciding to book it for March and hoping for snow. And sure enough, during my vows I got my a small flurry of snow. This place is magic. I would do it again and again. Wedding planning is stressful but this place made it easy with an all in one package. Hair and make up, catering, floral and decor, bakery, and lodging ALL on site!! Then just use their wedding expo to research and pick a photographer, music, transportation and officiant. And you have all the major stuff already done! The next day after my wedding I did not have a feeling of let down. I was on cloud 9. And I told Michael, this place can just take my money again and again.”

“WILLOWDALE DELIVERS ON EVERY LEVEL!!! We could not have imagined a more perfect day in our wildest dreams and the Willowdale venue and team were a HUGE part of that. The Coach House Suite was beautiful and clean and a great way to start our day. The mansion and surrounding park showed off for our fall wedding - the landscaping was impeccable, the set up under the tent made our mouths drop, and the team (with special shout out to Jeanine) executed every one of our many details. The food was delicious - like actually good not just good for a wedding. The whole team at Willowdale was calm and knew how to execute on the day-of. They made having our pup there for the ceremony easy and meaningful. They also have a great list of star studded vendors (especially our DJ - Mark Dixon!). The team also ensured we could incorporate cultural traditions seamlessly. And the cookies!! Could not recommend more highly! One tip for the brides with a million details - the Willowdale team is incredible, but they do not have the capacity to plan all your details (they are too busy killing it for the couples getting married that month at the venue). If you have a lot of moving parts, might be worth a planner.”

“Amazing!!!!! We had our wedding at Deity on June 21, 2024. We are not exaggerating when we say it exceeded our wildest dreams. We chose Deity because we wanted a very Brooklyn vibe to our whole day, and you just can’t beat this space: the exposed brick, the lighting, the vintage feel of the bridal suite, the speakeasy-like atmosphere of the cellar, and the gorgeous building were exactly what we wanted. And then we met the staff. We could write a book about the people who work and run Deity; they made our day. Anna and Caio radiate love of love, and they are clearly committed to making weddings magical. We were so calm on the day of our wedding thanks to them. Every single person on the staff was thoughtful, personable, kind, and professional. The guests raved about the staff, the food (the food!!! Omg delicious!), the space, the DJ (Ben was awesome!), and the bartenders. Our wedding felt seamless and we actually got to enjoy every moment. We’d say the bridal suite is a must; it’s gorgeous and it added so much to the day to get ready there and have a first look. We faced a heat wave, so we barely used the rooftop, but it was lovely to go up there for photos. We did a tasting of the food beforehand and were so impressed, and it tasted even better day-of. The chef also surprised us with an epic cheese and fruit platter in addition to the appetizers during cocktail hour, and our guests loved it. Anna, the day-of coordinator, and Anastasia both took really good care of us. They built in moments for us to have alone time, helped us with our clothes and belongings, and kept everything moving smoothly. The pricing, as advertised, is transparent and there are no hidden fees. It was a really affordable wedding for New York and for us, and we appreciated that we were able to budget for it from the start with no surprises. “Living in AZ a majority of wedding venues are desert landscaped, which is beautiful but not something I was looking for. I also noticed while looking at other venues the background of the ceremony had buildings or houses that were visible in the pictures, again, not something I was looking for. After months of searching I came across Venue at the Grove and absolutely fell in love just by looking at the pictures alone. I set up a tour and let me tell you pictures do not do that place justice. Seeing it in person during the day and at night with all the trees lit up is absolutely beautiful!! The venue is all inclusive which helped tremendously because during that year leading up to the wedding I can honestly stay I was stress free (minus the seating chart lol) Communicating with the staff was great and their timelines getting back to me about all my questions was always right away. “We got married a week ago at Walden and I cannot say enough about how positive an experience it was! Krystle and Alyssa (our dream team of planners) were our saviors throughout the entire planning process. I hadn't planned on using a full service planner until I found out Walden included them in the venue rental and now I can't imagine planning a wedding without them! They truly made the entire process fun, even during the more stressful parts. The rest of the Walden team is equally as amazing - the catering staff delivered some of "the best food we've ever had at a wedding," as many of our guests raved to us! The bar team also ran such an efficient operation that there was rarely ever a line for drinks, so rare at a wedding! Both teams worked with us to accommodate special requests and really felt like they prioritized making our day feel unique and special. The space itself is gorgeous and requires very little extra decoration, which is a great money saver! The separate spaces for ceremony, cocktail, and reception really made each part of the evening feel special. One of my favorite parts was the getting ready room - so rare to find in a Chicago city venue! My girls and I all had the best time getting ready in the space and it made for a very relaxing morning to already be on site. I could write 1,000 more words about how amazing this venue is but trust me when I say that if you want to alleviate as much stress from planning your big day as possible - Walden is the venue for you!!”

“In 2021 my boyfriend and I attended a wedding at Olio and couldn't believe how perfect the space was. Being from the north shore, it was easy to get to which we loved. Once we got to the dinner portion of the wedding and had chicken parm (not your traditional wedding piece of chicken or steak) - we thought, this is the best wedding ever! When we got engaged in December 2023, the first, and only tour we had was at Olio. We assumed there would be no availability for 2024, but Sarah was able to secure us with the perfect date in June (just six months away). We knew we didn't want a traditional wedding, and loved the fact that Sarah supported our non-traditional, crazy ideas. When I took my grandmother to visit the space, she met Sarah and said "she's so nice and thoughtful, but you must have to be to work in this industry" I can confidently say after planning my wedding in 6 months that not all vendors are like Sarah and the team at Olio! They go ABOVE and BEYOND to help you create your perfect day. They are incredibly fast at responding, and always taking the time to reply with kindness which goes a long way. Sarah & team helped us craft the most perfect PARTY atmosphere for our 200 guests. We went with Premier as our caterer and loved being able to hire local Peabody establishments for food, shoutout to Champions Pub, Toscanas, and an INCREDIBLE grazing board by Edex Provisions (right outside of Olio!) Followed by epic late night snacks from McDonalds. Olio allowed us to create the wedding menu of our dreams :) I would absolutely recommend working with Sarah and the team at Olio. My friends and family are still raving about the space, the food, and how much fun the night was. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. “We booked The Sanctuary as our venue back in 2023 when they were just re-opening, and we have zero regrets! Every New Yorker should have this place on its radar! The very first day we were there with Fonsi, we knew we were in good hands! Everything was perfect: the pier set-up for the ceremony, the open bar, grazing table and passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour and finally the dessert table and pizza stations for the after party. The food was AMAZING and cooked on-site so it was as fresh as it can be! And then they seamlessly cleared out the cocktail area and transformed it into the dancefloor while we were all enjoying our dinner buffet in a separate tented pavillion. Shout out to Amelia, Frank, Artur, Cat, and the rest of their wonderful team!”

“From the moment we stepped foot at The Wheeler House, we knew this was where we wanted to get married. There's something to offer every couple, from the historic house with beautiful wrap-around porches and a pool table for the groomsmen, to the outdoor ceremony space with newly installed turf and tall trees, to the breathtaking barn with high rafters and draping. The staff is professional and our coordinator, Emma, went above and beyond to make sure our day went off seamlessly. It's a common misconception that you sacrifice quality with an all inclusive option but that couldn't be farther from the truth with The Wheeler House. We will be recommending this venue along with our family & friends over and over again. Separately, our wedding party stayed at The Wheeler House Cottages for our entire wedding weekend and it made our experience so much more enjoyable, continuing the celebrations after the wedding and having everyone in one place for ease. “We had our wedding at The Red Barn this past May and everything was beyond perfect! Our wedding coordinator, Alex was so on top of everything during the planning stages and throughout the wedding itself. She is so incredible and we feel so lucky to have worked with her! The entire staff at The Red Barn was so amazing as well. The space is stunning and the food and drinks were incredible. We truly cannot say enough good things about The Red Barn! We had our reception and ceremony indoors and the fireplace backdrop was absolutely perfect. The space itself is beautiful and we really didn’t feel that we needed to do a ton of decorating which lessened stress and saved us on decor costs. However, all we really had to do was drop off what decorations we did have and Alex and her team took care of set up and breakdown with our vendors. We really didn’t have a single worry the weekend of the wedding. The amazing staff at The Red Barn took care of it all. We also stayed at Stage House Inn the weekend of the wedding and got ready there. Darien was a pleasure to work with and made coordinating room blocks so easy! The bridal suite comfortably fit all the girls getting ready (12 total people) plus 4 hair and makeup girls. It was also the perfect room for getting ready photos! We held our rehearsal lunch at The Links restaurant and the staff was so accommodating! We had a last minute reservation for around 25 and they took us no problem. Excellent and affordable food and drinks! Overall we had a perfect experience with every aspect of The Red Barn. We absolutely would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect spot for their wedding!”

“Every step of the way this team took such good care of us as a couple and guided us in the direction of the BEST people to work with. We had the pleasure of planning a majority of the wedding with Allie - who let me tell you, is INCREDIBLE. She is the absolute sweetest and has such an eye for detail (while always keeping budget in mind), she made the whole planning experience so easy and fun! As for day of - we could not have been more taken care. Mary was our day of coordinator and took care of EVERYTHING. She always was checking in with me, calming me down, offering food or drinks to keep me comfortable - it felt like another friend there to make sure nothing went wrong. Not to mention - she bustled my dress for me!!! Eddy was a HUGE part of our day when it came to food - he made sure we ate everything and even delivered food directly to us at times!! Our day would not have been the same without them there. As for the entire wedding experience - it was an absolute dream, everything about it was perfect. The food was out of this world incredible & they were able to accommodate to my Celiac and almost everything was made gluten free (and allergy friendly for certain guests). The bartenders were kind enough to learn guests names and drinks and treated everyone like family. “BOOK WITH NAZARETH HALL!! I can not say enough good things about this wedding venue. First of all it’s gorgeous!!! And they checked all of our boxes and more. We were looking for an all inclusive venue and that is just what they do. Venue, catering, alcohol and ceremony and reception all in one place! Their wedding coordinators make the wedding planning process so easy. They were available for any email or phone call any time. They provide you with a preferred vendor book which is amazing and helped us pick ALL of our vendors. The food and bar service were great and I got so many compliments from family and friends. Last but not least they provide you with a day of coordinator! She took all the stress away on the wedding day, communicated with the preacher, musicians, etc and made sure everyone was lined up correctly! As a bride I couldn’t appreciate this enough! Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. The Farm is truly a wonderful place to host your big day! Our goal is to work with each couple to carry out their vision for the day! What is great about The Farm is it truly can be anything you would like it to be, from a backyard barbecue to a beautiful sit down farm-to-table dinner! We would love to serve you on your Wedding Day.
