How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“First off, the wedding coordinator MELISSA at The Milestone Denton is godsend and 10000% deserves a huge raise and fat bonus for the amount of work she does and is so helpful in the planning process. She was very honest and upfront during the entire planning process. I am very Type A and for once in my life it was nice to have someone else in charge and I fully trusted her. She even provides recommendations when you don’t know what you want and will be honest with pricing. If it weren’t for Melissa, I don’t know how the wedding would have gone and I would have been so stressed during the planning process. She is so awesome that she goes out of her way to do things for you (be nice everyone!) and is very responsive. She also helped with the reception layout with my divorced parents who do not get along with other family members and it was a success. MELISSA IS THE BEST!! The venue - BEAUTIFUL. We had our ceremony indoors which was nice because our guests were able to take pictures at the gabezo in the back during cocktail hour. If you do your ceremony outside at the gazebo, the guests won’t be able to have their little photoshoots. The entire venue is gorgeous and every corner is a photo-op. It’s a great venue if you have 150 or less people. The big windows everywhere were just so beautiful. The bridal suite is HUGE and beautiful and the grooms suite is upstairs and has a tv and pool table. Perfect for the boys! The food, bar and DJ - everything was great and explained throughly by Melissa so expectations were set and made based on what tier and package you purchased I did not use the Walter Weddings photographer, florists or cake designer so I can’t speak to that. One downfall was on the day of the wedding with Melissa’s day of partner, Allison. She is super sweet and helped steam my bridal gown and Matron of Honor’s dress, which I’m so appreciative of. But I guess she didn’t communicate well to the staff on what needed to be done that day because there were several mishaps that shouldn’t have happened. The ceremony room was incomplete and she didn’t give me the chance to see how the front tables looked. I purchased 100 of bouquet flowers and ribbons that were supposed to be tied to each seat which I was told could be done since it was a simple task to tie 3 flowers and a bow on each aisle chair. This was not done so that small detail from my ceremony room seem bland and a waste of money. The front tables weren’t done how I wanted and it was chaotic having presents with our guestbook and our wedding sign. We wanted to utilize the buffet type table in the front room for presents so it’s not so cluttered when you walk in. Also, a lot of my items were not used for cocktail hour. After the wedding, I noticed the box was opened but she did not use what I purchase and the display for cocktail hour looked like a “backyard bbq” according to my guests. I was so disappointed because I had custom items and “backyard bbq” did not fit the vibe of “old Hollywood glam” of the wedding. Other than the day of mishaps, I highly recommend doing your wedding at Milestone Mansion Denton and having Melissa as your coordinator. GIVE HER A HUGE RAISE, Walter Weddings!!! She’s top notch and deserves it!”

“We are so thankful for Jordan and the entire Willowdale Estate team for helping to coordinate and run the most incredible wedding for us. We first fell in love with Willowdale Estate when we first toured thanks in particular to Anna Schirripa who walked us through the property, including the getting ready spaces, beautiful ceremony courtyard, cocktail space and of course the tent for reception. We could see early on that Willowdale could accomplish the vision we were looking for. Anna then followed up by mailing us their famous chocolate chip cookies which helped seal the deal! Anna’s thoughtfulness and responsiveness to all of our questions (rain plan, food options, wheelchairs accessibility, vendors, etc.) gave us the confidence that Willowdale Estate was the right venue for us and we could not have been more correct. Working with Jordan in the weeks leading up to our Wedding day, we could tell she was the perfect person to help us stay calm and present during our wedding day. She was responsive to all of our questions and helped us plan and execute the exact timeline we were looking for. On our wedding day, Jordan helped keep us calm when there was a chance of rain and helped our guests stay dry when there was a sunshower five minutes before our ceremony was set to start. She and the Willowdale Estate team immediately ensured our guests were dry with umbrellas and moved folks inside and then back into seats again in the courtyard within ten minutes and our ceremony started right on time and never missed a beat. Throughout the cocktail hour Jordan ensured that we had food brought to our suite so we could actually eat and then made sure our night flowed perfectly. Our guests continue to rave about the food at our wedding and were so impressed with the team throughout the entire evening. “We just had our wedding at Deity in April 2024 and couldn’t be happier with how our special day went. The planning process: After we toured the venue, we knew Deity was special. The pricing was very transparent and super reasonable considering everything that’s included – the venue (lounge, loft, and basement), day-of coordinator, food, 50 bar credit pp, basic décor package, and DJ. The space is gorgeous and so unique, unlike any other venue we’ve attended as guests or toured. Each floor has a purpose and accompanying vibe to match – the bridal suite is relaxing and picturesque (highly recommend adding this to your day for an added cost), the cocktail lounge is dreamy, the ceremony loft (and dinner space) is bright yet cozy, and the basement dance floor is funky and fun. Because the venue was already beautifully designed and all inclusive, the only things we needed to provide for the ceremony/reception were signage (welcome, table arrangements, his/her drinks), minimal décor/flowers (we hired a florist for the ceremony arch and did bud vases for the tables and they turned out beautiful), and dessert. Some (including me) may be nervous about all-inclusive venues, however Deity was so accommodating to the little ways in which we wanted to make our wedding unique, such as incorporating cultural outfit changes into the schedule to setting up a late-night instant noodle bar. Finally, Anna, the coordinator included with the venue, was a godsend. She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier, patiently answered all my random questions, and provided guidance where needed. The day of: Our family and friends were blown away by the bridal suite. We were relaxed the whole morning while getting ready and got some beautiful photos to start off the day. Once the day started rolling, Anna and the whole Deity team were on top of everything. They made sure everyone was on schedule but also were flexible with last minute changes, even making sure my husband and I had private moments to ourselves. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had so many guests compliment the cocktail hour bites and dinner service, even our very picky grandma said it was the best salmon she’s ever had. The drinks were flowing and we had guests commenting on how drink service on the dance floor was genius – everyone could continue dancing and no one was ever waiting with an empty glass. Also, my husband and I were initially nervous about an in-house DJ because we are very picky with music but DJ BenHaMeen was amazing, listened to our wants and needs, and kept the dancefloor lively (our photographer even complimented the music!). All in all, we cannot recommend Deity enough. Our guests are still asking if we can have a wedding there every year (we wish!).”

“From the moment we started planning with Chicago Winery, the entire team made sure we felt heard and supported every step of the way. Everyone's communication was clear and fast through their portal - and when we were assigned Chris as our primary, he answered our questions right away and went above and beyond as our day-of planner. Chris set up our decor exactly how we envisioned it, kept our drinks flowing, and made sure we actually got to eat and try all the appetizers (something we know doesn't always happen at weddings!). The food was incredible, and we had plenty of space to move between the main room and terrace all night long which I know our guests appreciated (especially those who didn't find themselves on the dance floor all night). The next day, I heard only positives about the food and the venue - entrees were actually good, drinks were strong, people were full and well fed (between cocktail hour, dinner, late night snack, and dessert), and the space was stunning. Chris anticipated what we needed before we even asked and treated us like VIPs the entire evening - it was absolutely magical. “We got married a week ago at Walden and I cannot say enough about how positive an experience it was! Krystle and Alyssa (our dream team of planners) were our saviors throughout the entire planning process. I hadn't planned on using a full service planner until I found out Walden included them in the venue rental and now I can't imagine planning a wedding without them! They truly made the entire process fun, even during the more stressful parts. The rest of the Walden team is equally as amazing - the catering staff delivered some of "the best food we've ever had at a wedding," as many of our guests raved to us! The bar team also ran such an efficient operation that there was rarely ever a line for drinks, so rare at a wedding! Both teams worked with us to accommodate special requests and really felt like they prioritized making our day feel unique and special. The space itself is gorgeous and requires very little extra decoration, which is a great money saver! The separate spaces for ceremony, cocktail, and reception really made each part of the evening feel special. One of my favorite parts was the getting ready room - so rare to find in a Chicago city venue! My girls and I all had the best time getting ready in the space and it made for a very relaxing morning to already be on site. I could write 1,000 more words about how amazing this venue is but trust me when I say that if you want to alleviate as much stress from planning your big day as possible - Walden is the venue for you!!”

“Working with the team at summit was absolutely wonderful! They were super organized and super helpful! I had some pretty specific things I wanted when it came to music and the reception and this team made it happen so flawlessly!! DJ did an amazing job. Food and drink service was wonderful. The whole team was so sweet and kind. The decor they have available is so pretty and it made it so much easier to not have to DIY everything. Arrival in the morning was smooth sailing they set up all the stuff we brought in as well as the stuff from their decor that we picked out. So many guests came up to me to tell me this was the smoothest run wedding they had ever been to! The views were amazing and overall experience was positive. I was in tears at the end of the night because I was so happy with how it turned out. My only complaints are 1) with the florist we got put with. I thought we were extremely clear on what colors the wedding was and what she created was way off. I tried to be happy about them but I just really wasn’t pleased, but I wasn’t about to let this dim the magic of the day. 2) having the rehearsal the morning of the wedding. It delayed us getting ready and that delayed the amount of time we had for pictures. I basically missed all the time for portraits for myself and my family photos were so rushed we didn’t have time to get what we wanted. It broke my heart when we got our wedding photos back it reminded me of how much we missed because the venue time was so short. 3) we felt rushed during portraits after the ceremony, then to find out we were 15 minutes ahead of schedule later on. It worked out on one hand because my dress bustle took a while but we missed out on many of the poses and second shooting location for my husband and I because of this. Again looking back at our photos I am sad to have missed this opportunity. 4)I do wish they would allow an extra hour for the reception, the dancing portion of the night was pretty short and it bums the guests out when last call is announced shortly after starting.”

“The Wheeler House made my dream wedding come true! We just got married there this October and from the moment I finalized a date with them (which they book up QUICK) to the moment I walked down the aisle, they were 100% helpful, professional, friendly and on point! I worked mainly with Laiken throughout the process and then my day of coordinator, Emma, who was fantastic! I never knew how stressful planning a wedding would be, but it was worth every moment once the big day finally arrived. It was nice working with the preferred vendors that The Wheeler House uses, they all work together so well and it takes the stress out of planning. I live out of state so sadly I wasn't able to make it to one of their open houses, but every vendor I spoke to over the phone was very helpful and answered any questions that I had. You will not be disappointed if you choose The Wheeler House for your wedding day, it is an absolutely beautiful venue. The outdoor space for the ceremony is elegant and so pretty. The barn is gorgeous inside with a huge chandelier and fireplace. It's so amazing to see everything bare bones and then how it completely transforms once all the flowers, decor, food, people and music make everything come alive. The actual Wheeler House itself is the perfect backdrop for all the pictures, which really ties it all in. Our families also stayed in the cottages just down the road from the venue and it was the perfect touch! The cottages were so beautiful inside. Its perfect for families or the wedding parties to sleep and get ready in. We were happy we stayed there, it came in handy that they were so close. All my guests had so much fun, I received so many compliments on how perfect everything was and that it was one of the most beautiful weddings they've ever been too! I couldn't be happier or more pleased with our experience!! “Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our daughter & son-in-law’s wedding. The location to the airport, highway and hotel were ideal. Their property provided plenty of parking. The wedding was outside on a 92 day and was flawless. It was hot, but the trees were in the perfect position to shade the entire patio. The entire staff was amazing. The reception space was transformed into a beautiful space for our special celebration. Our family and friends shared with us how delicious the appetizers, meal and “aftertizers” of the homemade pretzels. Christine the Event Manager went above and beyond and made sure the day was special for everyone. She answered all of my questions, even up to the last minute. We were so impressed with how many times Christine checked in with us to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center.”

It was the best wedding food we ever had, it was like high-end restaurant quality food!! Stephanie and her team worked with my other vendors like DJ, and photographer to ensure everything ran smoothly, which it did! The florist at Leola is also great! Everything they did was beautiful and exactly what I described to them. Every detail was literally perfect on my wedding day and I couldn't be more thankful! “BOOK WITH NAZARETH HALL!! I can not say enough good things about this wedding venue. First of all it’s gorgeous!!! And they checked all of our boxes and more. We were looking for an all inclusive venue and that is just what they do. Venue, catering, alcohol and ceremony and reception all in one place! Their wedding coordinators make the wedding planning process so easy. They were available for any email or phone call any time. They provide you with a preferred vendor book which is amazing and helped us pick ALL of our vendors. The food and bar service were great and I got so many compliments from family and friends. Last but not least they provide you with a day of coordinator! She took all the stress away on the wedding day, communicated with the preacher, musicians, etc and made sure everyone was lined up correctly! As a bride I couldn’t appreciate this enough! She also brought my husband and I drinks all night so we could stay with family and friends and dance and didn’t have to worry about going down to the bar. Nazareth hall is amazing and I can’t say enough great things about them! If you are looking for a wedding venue look no further!”

Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. The Farm is truly a wonderful place to host your big day! Our goal is to work with each couple to carry out their vision for the day! What is great about The Farm is it truly can be anything you would like it to be, from a backyard barbecue to a beautiful sit down farm-to-table dinner! We would love to serve you on your Wedding Day.

“We toured The Farm with Alyssa in 2024 and immediately fell in love with the space. From the very beginning, Alyssa, Sam, and Becca made the entire planning process feel easy and seamless. They provided a wonderfully organized planning guide and were always prompt and helpful with communication, which made such a difference throughout the process. One of the things we really appreciated was how much The Farm offers in-house. Their floral team created multiple arrangements for us that truly elevated the overall look of the day, and Taylor worked with us on decor that brought everything together beautifully. We received so many compliments on how stunning everything looked. Their in-house coordination was also incredible. Our coordinator, Alexa, was beyond helpful and such a calming presence throughout the day. We had quite a few vendors, but she communicated with everyone, kept everything organized, and made sure the entire day flowed smoothly without us having to worry about anything. She was so easy to work with and truly took care of us. Skye helped us design our desserts, including the most beautiful macaron place settings and a fun game night winner pie, and we have to give a special shoutout to Kacie for creating such a beautiful cake and dessert table. Everything tasted fresh, well-made, and not overly sweet—our guests kept asking for leftovers, which we were happy to share! On the wedding day, Alyssa, Sam, and Alexa constantly checked in on us to make sure we were okay, hydrated, and enjoying ourselves. The suites were thoughtfully stocked with coffee makers, steamers, toiletries, and plenty of water, which made getting ready so comfortable. The brunch buffet was also a huge hit—our groomsmen are still talking about the French toast! The new cocktail hour space was cozy, warm, and perfect for our guests despite the cold and wind. The venue itself is naturally beautiful, and the included chairs, tables, and surroundings make it feel elevated without needing much additional decor. The grounds are beautiful no matter what season. Their decor packages are also a great option and can be tailored to different styles and budgets. Overall, we are so happy we chose The Farm. They even gave us very thoughtful and cute gifts that we will forever treasure. Our day felt truly magical, and we couldn’t have done it without their amazing team. We genuinely can’t imagine getting married anywhere else.”
