How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“What is there to say! Five stars is simply not enough! Well for starters we just had our wedding at the Terraview on 10.19.24 and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! There are simply not enough words to describe this venue and this entire atmosphere as well as planning process. Our coordinator was Barbara and she was fantastic. The entire year leading up to our wedding. There was nothing but amazing communication and help at every turn. They make the planning process for your event or wedding so easy and we were so grateful since we honestly had no idea where to begin. Everything was amazing on the day of and was perfect to beginning to end. There is not a thing that we would have changed about our wedding. From the decorations to the florals to the food, there was no detail left out. If you are looking for a truly unique and beautiful wedding or event space, I highly recommend this venue. The details of our day were so intimate and so carefully thought out by the entire team that we had working with us. We worked with the floral department and the bakery and the kitchen to create an amazing day. The transparency is second to none and we are forever grateful. They also have an on-site beauty studio where your hair makeup can get done and they were also fantastic to work with! Gina and her girls are truly talented and made my entire bridal party look stunning. My day of bridal attendant was Belkis and she is absolutely amazing. She made everybody make sure that their dresses were perfect and during the getting ready portion, she was there for us 110% of the time helping with photos. After the ceremony, she insured that we had a drink in our hands and made sure that we were eating during our reception. She made sure that we were eating and brought us water on the dance floor and drinks on the dance floor and was just always at our side ready to help us. She is definitely an asset to this venue in so many ways. It is also close to the Scranton airport if you have guest coming from farther away. They have different venues on site (different sizes and styles) and it’s one event per day at each so you aren’t dealing with other parties. It is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony sites are outdoors with gorgeous views and the reception rooms are beautiful. It is a family business and you do truly feel like family while working with them. I cannot say enough great things! It’s close to many hotels so getting blocks wasn’t an issue. You also get some rooms on site. You also get a wedding coordinator and a day or person who is well aware of you needs and wants! Our day was absolutely perfect beginning to end! They make it so easy to plan and stress free! Food was absolutely amazing and my guests have been raving since! I had a cocktail reception which I highly recommend exploring! They have their own full bakery so all desserts were also made by them! “Amazing!!!!! We had our wedding at Deity on June 21, 2024. We are not exaggerating when we say it exceeded our wildest dreams. We chose Deity because we wanted a very Brooklyn vibe to our whole day, and you just can’t beat this space: the exposed brick, the lighting, the vintage feel of the bridal suite, the speakeasy-like atmosphere of the cellar, and the gorgeous building were exactly what we wanted. And then we met the staff. We could write a book about the people who work and run Deity; they made our day. Anna and Caio radiate love of love, and they are clearly committed to making weddings magical. We were so calm on the day of our wedding thanks to them. Every single person on the staff was thoughtful, personable, kind, and professional. The guests raved about the staff, the food (the food!!! Omg delicious!), the space, the DJ (Ben was awesome!), and the bartenders. Our wedding felt seamless and we actually got to enjoy every moment. We’d say the bridal suite is a must; it’s gorgeous and it added so much to the day to get ready there and have a first look. We faced a heat wave, so we barely used the rooftop, but it was lovely to go up there for photos. We did a tasting of the food beforehand and were so impressed, and it tasted even better day-of. The chef also surprised us with an epic cheese and fruit platter in addition to the appetizers during cocktail hour, and our guests loved it. Anna, the day-of coordinator, and Anastasia both took really good care of us. They built in moments for us to have alone time, helped us with our clothes and belongings, and kept everything moving smoothly. The pricing, as advertised, is transparent and there are no hidden fees. It was a really affordable wedding for New York and for us, and we appreciated that we were able to budget for it from the start with no surprises. “We got married a week ago at Walden and I cannot say enough about how positive an experience it was! Krystle and Alyssa (our dream team of planners) were our saviors throughout the entire planning process. I hadn't planned on using a full service planner until I found out Walden included them in the venue rental and now I can't imagine planning a wedding without them! They truly made the entire process fun, even during the more stressful parts. The rest of the Walden team is equally as amazing - the catering staff delivered some of "the best food we've ever had at a wedding," as many of our guests raved to us! The bar team also ran such an efficient operation that there was rarely ever a line for drinks, so rare at a wedding! Both teams worked with us to accommodate special requests and really felt like they prioritized making our day feel unique and special. The space itself is gorgeous and requires very little extra decoration, which is a great money saver! The separate spaces for ceremony, cocktail, and reception really made each part of the evening feel special. One of my favorite parts was the getting ready room - so rare to find in a Chicago city venue! My girls and I all had the best time getting ready in the space and it made for a very relaxing morning to already be on site. I could write 1,000 more words about how amazing this venue is but trust me when I say that if you want to alleviate as much stress from planning your big day as possible - Walden is the venue for you!!”

Founded in 1814, The West Boylston Company was a large textile manufacturer in West Boylston, MA. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond. “We had the most beautiful wedding at The Boylston Rooms. From the moment we first spoke with Erin and Myles we know this would be the venue we would choose. They saw our vision and really went above and beyond to ensure our special day was perfect. We were thrilled to be able to utilize their massive library of decorations and supplies to avoid having to purchase a ton of decorative elements and we donated the things we did end up purchasing so that they didnt end up sitting in our house (or worse, a landfill!) Myles and Erin both made absolutely certain that we got to enjoy every moment, including our food, and that we got to spend a moment alone together right after the ceremony to celebrate. Alyssa was by my side all day as my biggest cheerleader. I'm an emotional person who doesn't love being the center of attention. She had the most reassuring presence and all kinds of tricks up her sleeve. I will never forget her helping me take deep breaths, holding a cold can of Diet Coke on my chest to help calm me down. The Boylston Rooms made our wedding day so special, and we can't recommend them highly enough. We probably could've had a beautiful wedding anywhere if we had been willing to dedicate our entire lives to it for the year prior or shell out thousands of dollars for a planner and coordinator. But at The Boylston Rooms we didnt have to do either. We had a gorgeous wedding and it was affordable but above all it was effortless. With their help? We would do it again in a heartbeat.”

“The Sanctuary is an incredible wedding venue. They offer a well-valued wedding package and were extremely flexible with our changing needs and desires. All of the staff is incredibly helpful and kind, the food was good, and our guests even told us that we "undersold" the venue to them. It is the perfect spot for a waterfront city wedding! The DJ and wedding cake companies they work with are also great. We had a lot of special customizations for our wedding so we hired an outside day-of-coordinator, and the staff worked very well to incorporate her. Highly recommend!”

“The Oviatt is a wonderful venue and it was such a pleasure working with Lindsey and Gabe! We knew during our tour that the Oviatt was the right venue for us. The size (for small-medium sized weddings), location, and character of the venue is really unparalleled. Then layer on top table and linen deal when you work with a preferred catering vendor and the Oviatt is the best deal in town! Gabe was very helpful during the touring and contracting phase. He communicates very clearly which made the process very smooth. There were no surprise charges at any point. The cost of everything was communicated very clearly upfront. Then, once we signed the contract, we worked with Lindsey, the director of events who supports the planning phase. Lindsey answered all of our questions in a timely and patient manner. She never hesitated to answer our questions, even when the answers to our questions were clearly outlined in the welcome packet! The event planning tools the team uses makes it incredibly easy to stay up on all of the planning details from floorplan to linen selections, to guest count - the tool handles it all with clear deadlines for each task. Finally, on the day of our wedding the Oviatt team executed the event so smoothly. Everything went off without a hitch! Our guests were so impressed by the venue. Quintessential LA rooftop vibe with art deco architecture. Such a treat. We would recommend the Oviatt to anybody looking to get married in the downtown area. The Oviatt is reasonably priced, the staff are incredibly professional and reliable, and are just nice people. We are forever grateful to the Oviatt staff for helping us have our perfect wedding!”

“We had a fabulous wedding reception at the Donauschwaben German Cultural Center (Lenau Park). Their entire staff—from their awesome coordinator Christine to their banquet captain and bar staff—was so kind, so professional, and most importantly made our guests feel welcome and taken care of. Christine came to every meeting organized and prepared. She understands the details as well as the emotions that go into planning a wedding and was a great part of our support system. She is fair and reasonable—even helped us make a German Hall a little more “Italian” for the bride. We could not have asked for a better partner! As for the venue itself, it was the perfect place to host 300 of our closest friends and family. The space was beautiful, bright and happy. Our guests were comfortably seated at 32 round tables of 8 to 10. The team made all of our décor visions come to life. The outdoor patio was welcoming and comfortable for guests as well. The dance floor is huge! Perfect for an Italian tarantella. I would also say the room is set up well acoustically—with 300 people in the room and music playing, you could still hear the other people at your table. The entryway was also perfect for our receiving line. We were happy to see that guests could enjoy their time—whether they wanted to dance the night away, sit and chat, or just enjoy the night air with family. The food was excellent—seriously excellent. We got so many compliments after the wedding! They have their buffet line down to a science with all of our guests being served in a reasonable amount of time. They also did a great job of meeting the needs of our gluten- and dairy-free guests. That is so hard to do when you are feeding so many people, and even these guests said they enjoyed their meals. Finally, the money we spent on this wedding reception was well worth the value. The food and beverage packages are incredibly fair for the quality and the amount of food your guests will be served. We were also able to add appetizers and some special add-ons at a reasonable rate. The linens are provided by a separate vendor, but even those costs were not too bad, and everything looked beautiful when it was decorated! While there are certain rules the venue must follow and sometimes we needed to negotiate the details, Christine was highly transparent and upfront with us, and always worked with us to find the right solution for our day. After hosting our wedding here, we would absolutely do it again with this space and this team. When it comes to the Donauschwaben, we strongly recommend them for your wedding reception and cannot say enough good things about their level of service!”

Stephanie was our coordinator and made sure every detail was perfect. She answered all my questions along the way (which was a lot haha). The whole team at Leola was kind, professional, communicated clearly and detail oriented. Also, the food was absolutely amazing, our family and friends raved about it! It was the best wedding food we ever had, it was like high-end restaurant quality food!! Stephanie and her team worked with my other vendors like DJ, and photographer to ensure everything ran smoothly, which it did! The florist at Leola is also great! Everything they did was beautiful and exactly what I described to them. Every detail was literally perfect on my wedding day and I couldn't be more thankful! I loved that our guests could book a room at the Inn so no one had to drive after the reception. The Inn at Leola Village definitely stands out as a top notch wedding venue, I highly recommend them!! From the initial sales tour all the way thru to the big day, every member of the team we interacted with treated us with the utmost level of care and attention to detail. Weddings are their bread and butter, but at no point did we feel like "just another wedding." Every step of the planning process was handled at our own pace, with no question too big or too small for them to answer along the way. For our wedding day itself, every staff member present did an absolutely exceptional job. From the minute we walked into the suite in the morning, our coordinator Sean was on their A-game and kept the entire staff functioning smoothly throughout the event. The food, bar service, table service, decor, music, and the venue as a whole were all complimented wildly by all guests. Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.

“HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! Everything is in house- catering, bar, table set up, etc. and it is so helpful to not have to worry about those things. They also let you bring in your own decorations or use the ones they have available. The staff is so amazing! Maddison was my venue coordinator who answered all of my questions and was excellent with assisting with the planning and making sure everything was set for our wedding day! I also had an event coordinator who spent the day with us to make sure everything was running smoothly. They did have two weddings that day so having an event coordinator who could speak with the other coordinator was a huge bonus. Also the food- to die for! It was soooo good and was definitely a favorite for my guests. Not to mention the views! Nazareth has so many spots inside and outside that make the most beautiful wedding photos! Overall, my wedding went off without a hitch and I am so glad that I had my wedding at Nazareth Hall!”
