Jim & Melissa Lakey

We are Jim and Melissa Lakey, a husband and wife wedding filmmaker team. We love shooting weddings in the desert that we call our home — Joshua Tree and Palm Springs — but we’re also partial to weddings at the beach. And in the woods. And in the city. We’re pretty sure we’d love shooting in Hawaii, too, if anyone would like to put that to the test with us.

We make cinematic wedding films that authentically capture all the emotion, love and laughter of your big day so you can relive them time and time again. Each film we make is as unique as you are. Whether you’re all about a weekend of fun with your friends and family in Palm Springs; experiencing the beauty and intimate romance of the Big Sur coast, or eloping in Joshua Tree National Park, we’ve got you covered. California is our home, but we’ll happily travel to tell your story, where ever it may be.

    I've had the pleasure of working with Jim & Melissa on a number of weddings (I'm a photographer). Not only do they create the most visually stunning films that are basically a piece of art from your life, they are brilliant people with the biggest hearts. Jim & Melissa always bring a calming presence into the wedding day, are the easiest team of filmmakers to work with and are extremely professional! When you choose them, you are choosing two people who infuse their passion into your film while keeping the narrative true to who you are as a couple.     We think one of the biggest takeaways in hiring a videographer as talented as these two is that you get to experience the day not only over and over, but in a way that you simply couldn't day of. Danny and I kept saying we wish we could've attended our wedding as guests to take in everyone's individual experience; see little moments of love, fun & everything in between. No matter how much you try to be mindful and present, the adrenaline and overflowing joy just gets the best of you. You will miss things. We wanted to see so much more, and hiring Melissa & Jim was the best gift we could've given ourselves. The Quail & The Dove delivers genuine experience of the day like no other. They have such a gift for capturing all the things you'd want to remember and do it in such an 'individualized to you as a couple' way!
