About this venue

The Texan was first established as a movie theater in 1948. It’s popularity and reputation spans the ages. With the exciting reestablishment of The Texan in the heart of downtown Athens, not only will the current generation and generations to come have a chance to bring The Texan back to its glory through the live music experience, but we believe that The Texan will be the catalyst for the revitalization of downtown Athens as a whole. Come out and see for yourself what steps the City of Athens has taken to bring this landmark venue back to life!

The Texan’s capacity ranges depending on the seating layout between 186 to 411. Use of the facility’s main area, mezzanine, stage, lobby, and restrooms are included in the rental price. Standard banquet chairs, Mezzanine cocktail tables, and barstools are also included. Free parking is available in the lot behind The Texan.

The Texan’s hours of operation depend on the type of event being held. However, hours are likely to be consistent on the weekends and evenings, most likely Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
Yes, though The Texan cannot obtain its own TABC license, depending on the event, the City will either work with food and alcohol caterers who have proper TABC catering licenses for the sale and consumption of alcohol. Or, the event will be a BYOB event. For private events, alcohol can be host provided.
Yes, though The Texan does not have a full-service kitchen, depending on the event, the City will strive to have a food component at each of our events. We will work with caterers who have their current catering licenses. For private events, food can be host provided.
There is available parking directly behind The Texan in the City owned parking lot. There is also parking around the downtown area and square available that includes a short walk to the venue.
Yes. The Texan will be ADA compliant.
