About The Weekend Tape

The Weekend Tape

The Weekend Tape is a wedding videographer alternative for couples who want a nostalgic, guest-filmed wedding video without adding another production crew to the room. We send you a real handheld camcorder kit before your wedding, your guests film the celebration from their point of view, and we edit the footage into a candid home-movie style film filled with the moments you may have missed. It’s part wedding camcorder rental, part edited nostalgic wedding film — simple, personal, and full of real memories from your people.

Your guests can record the speeches, dance floor, getting ready, welcome party, inside jokes, and all the moments that make the weekend feel personal. The Weekend Tape is your people capturing your wedding from the middle of it all. Guests pass around the camcorder, leave messages, catch funny moments, and preserve parts of the celebration you would otherwise miss. Then we turn that footage into a wedding film that feels more like a memory than a production. Please note: We Don't go to your wedding and film anything, we rent you the camcorder(s) and create the film from what your people capture. Please visit our website for more information.

    They're Great!

What stood out most was watching guests immediately connect with the camcorder. It didn’t feel staged, awkward, or intrusive. It felt natural, nostalgic, and genuinely fun. People passed it around, laughed, recorded little moments, and captured pieces of the day that a couple may never have seen otherwise. It's a great way for couples to remember their wedding weekend without adding a huge production or breaking the budget, The Weekend Tape is absolutely worth booking.

    Loved it!

Working with The Weekend Tape was a seamless experience from start to finish. They stayed in constant contact throughout the planning process, answering questions quickly and making everything feel effortless. What really impressed me was how they captured the candid moments—the laughter, the spontaneity—that made our day feel authentic and alive. The final videos exceeded our expectations, and honestly, the cost versus what you receive is a no-brainer. I'd highly recommend them to any couple looking for videographers who care about telling your story the right way.

No. A videographer creates polished, professionally filmed coverage. The Weekend Tape is a guest-filmed home movie meant to preserve a completely different perspective. They can work beautifully together, but they are not the same thing.
Your guests do. The camcorder is meant to be passed around naturally, so the footage feels personal, familiar, and completely unforced. You can hand it to a specific friend, pass it around throughout the night, or leave it somewhere easy for people to pick up and use.
Yes. The camcorder is meant to be simple and low-pressure. Guests do not need to adjust settings or know anything technical. They just turn it on, press record, and film the moments they want to remember.
We recommend choosing one or two people who are social, playful, and close to you. The best person is usually someone who will enjoy talking to guests, passing the camera around, and capturing little moments throughout the day. It does not need to be someone professional. It just needs to be someone who knows your people.
No. The Weekend Tape is not meant to direct the day, stage moments, or get in the way of professional coverage. It works best when it stays casual and guest-led. Your photographer and videographer can focus on polished coverage, while the camcorder captures a more personal, behind-the-scenes perspective from your people.
The camcorder records in high-resolution 4K video and captures the real voices and sounds of the day. You’ll hear the laughter, cheers, music, messages, and little in-between moments that make the footage feel personal. The final film still has a nostalgic home-movie feel, but the footage is captured with modern video quality.
Some of it probably will be, and that is completely normal. We do not expect every clip to be perfect. We review the footage and choose the pieces that feel the most meaningful, funny, emotional, or true to the weekend. The final film is edited to feel nostalgic and watchable while still keeping the imperfect home-movie feeling.
The final film is shaped by the footage your guests capture. If there is less usable footage, the film may be simpler or shorter, but we will still do our best to create something meaningful from what is recorded. This is also why we recommend choosing one or two people to help keep the camcorder moving during the celebration.
Yes. We include simple guidance so guests know what kinds of moments to capture. Messages to the couple, dance floor clips, table conversations, getting-ready moments, venue details, travel moments, welcome party footage, and little behind-the-scenes pieces all work beautifully.
Yes. You are not receiving one long unfiltered camera dump as your final film. We review the footage, remove the parts that do not help the story, and edit the strongest moments into a nostalgic home movie that feels personal, watchable, and true to the weekend.
Yes. Along with the edited film, you receive the raw clips from your camcorder footage. The edited film gives you the polished home-movie version, and the raw clips let you keep the extra little pieces that may not make it into the final edit.
The Wedding Tape includes a 3–5 minute nostalgic edited film. The Full Weekend Tape includes a 5–7 minute nostalgic edited film. Final length may vary slightly depending on how much usable footage is captured, but we always edit with the goal of making the film feel natural, meaningful, and easy to watch.
After we receive the camcorder back, we review the footage and begin editing your film. Your final delivery timeline will be listed in your booking details, and we’ll keep the process simple and clear from start to finish.
Your edited film and raw clips are delivered digitally, so you can download, save, and share them. You will receive the nostalgic edited film along with the raw clips from the camcorder footage.
Yes. The edited film is yours to watch, download, and share. Because the footage is guest-filmed and personal, we recommend sharing it in whatever way feels right for you and your people.
The Weekend Tape was created for weddings and wedding weekends, but it can work beautifully for any celebration where the people matter most. If your people are there, there is a story worth saving.
Yes. You can use it wherever it makes sense for your celebration. Some couples use it only on the wedding day. Others include the welcome party, rehearsal dinner, getting ready, after-party, brunch, or travel moments. If you want more than one part of the weekend captured, The Full Weekend Tape is usually the better fit.
The Weekend Tape can travel with you. We’ll coordinate the shipping plan around your wedding location, travel dates, and return timing so the process stays as simple as possible. For destination weddings, we usually recommend The Full Weekend Tape so you have more flexibility and more chances to capture the full experience. Yes. The Weekend Tape can be added even if you have already booked your photographer, videographer, or other wedding vendors. It is a separate guest-filmed experience and does not need to replace anything you already have planned.
Yes. The Weekend Tape is a wedding videographer alternative for couples who want something more candid, nostalgic, and guest-filmed. It is not meant to replace a full professional videographer if you want polished ceremony coverage, speeches, and cinematic edits. Instead, it captures the behind-the-scenes moments, messages, dance floor clips, inside jokes, and real energy from your guests’ point of view.

Yes. A lot of couples book The Weekend Tape because they want a wedding video, but they do not want a traditional videography team. It gives you a more affordable, personal, and candid way to remember the day through the eyes of your guests.
Yes. The Weekend Tape works beautifully alongside a professional videographer because it captures a totally different perspective. Your videographer can focus on polished coverage, while your guests capture the funny, emotional, unplanned, and personal moments happening in the middle of the celebration.
