Built in 1866, The Abbey has been a staple of Historic Main Street for over 130 years and has since been renovated into one of the area’s premier event spaces. Reconstructed carefully, with attention to detail, the Abbey is a crossroads of nostalgic history and state of the art technology. Just minutes from downtown St. Louis, MO, Main Street Abbey is a unique place to host your event. Lackluster experience
From the beginning, this venue did not give us a sense of trust or care. The representative from the venue told us they would reserve our wedding date and tell us if someone wanted that date before giving it to another couple. They did not contact us to let us know and gave our date to another couple (This was our anniversary). At our ceremony, they did not make sure we had a knife to cut our wedding cake, which was very awkward, we were standing around waiting for a knife and serving knife. Also, specifications for our wedding that Main Street Abbey agreed to were not carried out as promised. We are extremely disappointed in the services provided by Main Street Abbey.

Each wedding date is held tentatively for 30 days, and if another couple inquires about that same date, we always reach out and offer a 24-hour courtesy period before releasing it. When we did need to release your date & you chose your new date, we offered a complimentary champagne toast for you and your guests as a gesture of goodwill. Regarding the cake cutting, we completely understand how that moment can feel when things don’t go exactly as planned. The knife you provided was being handled by your hired coordinator/decorator, and when I tried to move it to the cake table from the dessert table, I was asked not to. I’m truly sorry for the confusion that caused in the moment. Your wedding was absolutely beautiful, and we were so grateful to be part of such a special day. We wish you both all the happiness in the world as you begin this new chapter together.
