About this venue

Located on the corner of Ridge and Plain streets in La Porte, Indiana, the La Porte Civic Auditorium is a highlight of the City of La Porte and the La Porte Park and Recreation Department. This beautiful, regal building was a gift to the City of La Porte from a local philanthropist, Maurice Fox of the Fox Woolen Mills, in honor of his parents. The stipulation of this gift was that the building be made available to all individuals, Civic and educational groups or bodies. The Civic Auditorium was dedicated on March 19, 1930, and has since hosted thousands of regional and community events. These events have included everything from athletic contests to organizational conferences, trade shows to family weddings and charitable concerts to stage plays. Each unique and each a celebration in its own right. Renovated in recent years to accommodate new events and needs, the historical integrity of this beautiful building remains to shine bright.

Since its dedication in 1930, the Civic Auditorium has touched thousands of lives. The building has been the backdrop to larger community events such as the annual Healthcare Foundation of La Porte’s Holiday at the Pops Symphony Concert, the La Porte High School Prom and the La Pour Brew Fest. At the same time, couples have found the historic brick and limestone building to be the perfect setting for a charming, intimate wedding or reception. Within the Civic, as it’s affectionately known in the community, the gymnasium boasts 45 foot high ceilings, a formal stage and more than 7,600 square feet of space that feature a magical atmosphere for weddings, dances, stage productions and more. An additional 10,500 square feet on the lower level offers individual meeting rooms and banquet space for smaller events. The versatility of the space can only be outmatched by the charm, elegance and richness of the building itself.

The Auditorium is the exclusive beverage provider for the space. They have brewed beers, domestics, wine and spirits along with licensed bar staff. Various packages are available. Tax, Service Charges, Bartender and set-up fees will not be included in alcohol pricing. No outside beverages are permitted at the Auditorium.
Yes, we have onsite parking available. We have three parking lots: one located off Ridge Street and two located off Tecumseh Street. There is also street parking available nearby.
Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We also have ramps at our side entrances located off of Plain Street and Tecumseh Street.
Yes, all events are required to carry liability insurance.
Nails and any other permanent alterations to the space are not permitted. Confetti, glitter, open flames, and sand are also prohibited. If you have a specific request or need an exception considered, please contact us in advance.
