About this venue

Carawood Lake is a private park and campground located in the heart of Lorain county, featuring a pristine 2-acre lake, a rustic, climate-controlled Lodge with seating for up to 125 (a few more can be squeezed in if needed), a large lakeside lawn perfect for outdoor events, lots of gorgeous little nooks amongst the trees for pictures, and space for your entire party to camp on the grounds overnight following your wedding. Our vibe is rustic, state park-like, peaceful, and casual. We are a small, family-owned venue that offers amazing flexibility, including the ability to use any caterer of your choice, park a food truck right next to our covered patio, or even bring your own food and alcohol. Our Classic Wedding Package also come with tables, chairs, tablecloths, chair covers, AV equipment, a photobooth, uplighting, and free use of our decorations items in our "Something Borrowed Closet"! We can't wait to meet you :)

The Full Weekend Retreat (Core Package)

Description

This is one of our "Core" reservation packages. It gives you access to our space from 10 am on Friday through 11 pm on Sunday. With this package, you secure the day before your event for set-up and rehearsal (and even a rehearsal dinner if you'd like!), plus the day following your event for a relaxed clean-up and/or farewell brunch. This package also includes the option for your entire party to camp on the grounds overnight on Friday and Saturday nights (camping available May-October only).

The Overnight Event (Core Package)

Description

This is one of our "Core" reservation packages. The price varies depending on the days of the week, month of the year, and how far in advance you book. From May through October, a Fri-Sat event is $5600, a Sat-Sun event is $5000, a Thu-Fri event is $3600, a Sun-Mon event is $2800, and M-Tu / Tu-W / W-Th are $2000. Your entire party is able to camp on the grounds (May-Oct only). The Classic Wedding Add-on ($800) is commonly added to this core package.

    Perfect place to celebrate! Great lodge on a lake.

    Carawood was the perfect place for our fall family party! The lodge had plenty of room and looked beautiful with all of the twinkling ceiling lights. We had a bonfire on the lawn. It was a great place to hang out by the lake. Suzanne was wonderful to work with and made planning super easy. We will definitely book here again!

    Picture perfect day

    I helped my mother-in-law plan her wedding at Carawood Lake this fall and everything about the process was wonderful. Suzanne is a very warm and responsive communicator. The grounds are extensive and the view of the lake from the back patio of the venue was beautiful. A highlight was the bonfire after dinner when all the guests roasted s’mores next to the lake. It was such a wonderful day. It was the perfect place to have an intimate, private wedding surrounded by nature.

Yes, you may bring and serve your own alcohol for free.
Yes, there is ample parking immediately adjacent to the Lodge.
Yes. The Lodge itself and the patio are wheelchair accessible, with no stairs and an ADA compliant individual indoor restroom. The parking lot is gravel and immediately adjacent to the Lodge. The lawn (grass) and grounds (woods, gravel paths) have no specific accessibility features, however, you can drive cars on the gravel/dirt paths around the grounds.
Access to our indoor and outdoor spaces; indoor tables and chairs; use of our indoor built in sound system and bar TV screen; free Wi-Fi for guests; use of our catering kitchen; catch-and-release fishing in the lake.
This depends on which package you chose. Our most popular package, the "Saturday Reception" is from 2 pm until midnight, with 2 complementary hours of set-up from noon until 2 pm.
If you are serving alcohol, we require you to have Host Liability Insurance (typically available for $75-$150). We maintain our own General Liability Insurance.
We offer refunds depending on when you cancel and the original cost of your package. Please check the FAQs on our website for complete details! (We pride ourselves on completely transparent pricing and policies - it's all on our website.)
Yes, we require a non-refundable retainer equal to 20% of your Core Package price to "purchase" your date.
YES!! We can set-up custom payment plans at 0% interest, with monthly payments designed to pay off the reservation fee by your due date. (Payments are due 3 months prior to your event.) There are no penalties for early OR LATE installment payments, so long as the full balance is paid off by your due date... you can think of it more like a budgeting tool rather than a strict payment plan.
We accept credit and debit cards, ACH transfers, Apple/Google pay, Cash App pay, checks, and cash. We offer a 1.5% discount for anyone paying by check in full at the time of booking or by ACH transfer (either in full or with a payment plan).
NO!! You are allowed to use whichever vendors you would like. You are also allowed to bring and serve your own food and alcohol if you would like.
