Tucked away on 50 acres in Chardon, Ohio, Basil Place is a private estate venue designed for unforgettable celebrations. Whether you’re planning a weekend wedding experience or a one-day event, our flexible packages allow you to create a celebration that feels uniquely yours. Guests can enjoy overnight accommodations in our Manor House and Carriage House, explore the scenic grounds, and take in views of our peaceful 2.5-acre pond. Our newly renovated Event Center welcomes up to 250 guests and offers a beautiful setting for ceremonies and receptions. We are excited to announce a new addition coming in 2027—a 250-person sailcloth tent that will offer couples an elegant outdoor celebration space surrounded by the beauty of the estate. From our rescued alpacas, pot-bellied pigs, white peacocks, and friendly chickens to our thoughtfully designed spaces, Basil Place creates a wedding experience as unique as your love story.

We are thrilled to introduce our stunning new Sailcloth Tent, debuting in 2027 at Basil Place. Nestled beside the Manor House ceremony space and overlooking the water, this elegant structure offers a truly unforgettable setting for weddings and special events. Designed to blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the property, the tent creates an open-air experience while providing the comfort and convenience of a dedicated event space.

Seamless, Thoughtful, and Truly Special
If you are looking for a wedding venue that feels like pure magic from start to finish, Basil Place is it! We got married here in April 2026, and I truly don’t have enough words to capture how special this place—and the people behind it—are. Michelle, the owner, is quite simply an angel of a human. From day one, she was by our side through every step of the process. She doesn’t just care about your wedding day—she cares about you as a person and wants you to genuinely soak in and enjoy every single moment. Her presence is calming, supportive, and incredibly thoughtful, and it made all the difference. She was so flexible and available whenever needed. She knows what she is doing and this is truly a passion and something her entire family seems to put their heart and soul into. One thing that really stood out is that Michelle only works with vendors who share her same vision and level of care. Every recommendation she provided—from catering to bartending—was absolutely top notch. It removed so much stress knowing we were in the best hands with people that knew the venue well and didn't rely on us for information. We booked the full weekend package, and I cannot recommend it enough (sure the price might shock you a bit at first, but it ultimately ended up saving us money and alot of stress due to lodging of family, ourselves and rehearsal dinner space all being in one place). Being able to host our rehearsal dinner on-site Friday night while already soaking in the beautiful grounds set the tone for the entire weekend. Even more special, our parents and siblings stayed in the house with us, which made everything feel intimate, easy, and so meaningful. The morning of the wedding was something I’ll never forget—while the girls were up early getting ready in the bridal suite, we kept looking outside at everyone else relaxing by the lake with coffee, thinking “must be nice :)” It truly felt like a retreat with the people we love most and I didn't think I would be able to get something like this in Ohio... but then Michelle came along and proved me wrong :) Basil Place gave us not just a wedding day, but an entire experience we’ll cherish forever. If you want a venue where you feel supported, cared for, and completely present for your wedding, this is the place. We are endlessly grateful to the entire staff for helping us start our lives in such a special way!

Amazing Wedding Venue
Basil Place was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding this August. Their communication style was excellent - they were always quick to respond to our questions and provide helpful guidance throughout the planning process. The quality of their work and the value they provided was truly the highest. They were so easy to work with, and Michelle in particular was wonderful. Basil Place exceeded our expectations and helped make our special day truly unforgettable. I would highly recommend Basil Place!

the best ever!!
10/10. 5-stars. Michelle and the family are absolutely the best. We got married at Basil Place on May 25, 2024 and it was the most fun day of our lives. We were able to stay overnight at Basil with our wedding party which made it an even better decision. Plus, getting to bring our stuff from home earlier in the week was such a stress reliever. If you’re looking for a wedding venue…you really can’t go wrong.

LOVE BASIL
I cannot recommend Basil Place enough. I have had the pleasure of working with them since September 2nd 2022 and our wedding was this past weekend. I have gotten to know Michelle over the last two years and she has truly become family. She gave me her personal cell phone number to be able to call her whenever I needed to. She always answered emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. The venue itself is so beautiful and such a great place for anyone who wants to have all of their wedding celebrations in one place. It is clean, modern, and very well-kept. Every time I was there people would be working on the yard, etc. This is a very large property but they do a phenomenal job keeping up with it and making it beautiful all year round. Michelle was so helpful during wedding week and let me come and go as I pleased, even when there were other weddings (but making sure to respect the other weddings going on). We did a lot of game planning together and again, I truly feel like she's family at the end of this process. I really wanted to work with someone personable and made it feel like home and that's exactly what it was. The food (through taste of excellence) was fantastic which is their required vendor. On our wedding day, it literally rained all day. Michelle knew how much I wanted an outdoor wedding on their beautiful property and when it was go time for the ceremony, she was literally outside with a leaf blower trying to dry the chairs for us. She told us "we are going to make this happen for you I promise." And it sure did. Because of the staff there, we had the wedding of our dreams. We ran out of vodka pretty early in the night and Michelle went to the store and got us some. I really don't know of any other venue that would do this. I am so sad my time with Michelle and Basil Place is over because it was an unbelievable experience. I would recommend them to anyone in the world.

Best venue around!
We recently celebrated our wedding at Basil Place, and it was nothing short of magical! The venue is absolutely breathtaking, with the stunning pond and foliage and elegant indoor spaces that created the perfect ambiance for our special day. What truly made Basil Place wonderful was the owner, Michelle. She was always there to answer questions and provide recommendations for other vendors. Her warmth and generosity made us feel special.
