Hi hi! This is Yong Zhu. I am a wedding/family photographer based in the Bay Area. I shoot both film and digital. My style is documentary, editorial, cinematic and fine art. My personal work was recently published in a special edition on Docu Magazine. I believe classic is timeless.

A full-time dad, a part-time mixologist and photographer. I am documentary photographer focusing on raw, unscripted visual storytelling. Working in the hospitality industry teaches me always down to figure it out what couple really wants.

Yong is the best!
We loved working with Yong Photo for our wedding day. He was responsive to every question we had and made the whole process feel effortless from start to finish. Yong captured beautiful candid shots throughout the day that really showed what our wedding felt like, not just what it looked like. His work is sharp and the photos came out exactly how we hoped they would. We're so grateful to have these images to look back on and relive such a special day with our family and friends. Captured candid moments for us to relive our day!
Highly recommend Yong for your wedding photography! We honestly would never have thought to choose film photography for our wedding — we're both "sharper is better," but the nostalgia that film photography brought back as Millennials getting married on the older end was such a surprise! Given my hesitation, he incorporated both film and digital, which gave us such a great range to choose from. His eye for candid, in-between moments meant we got to relive so many little pieces and emotions of our day. Those are some of our favorite photos to keep looking back on. Neither of us is naturally comfortable in front of a camera, and we were nervous about what to do with our hands, where to look, how not to look awkward. Yong was so patient with us — he gave us just enough direction to feel at ease without ever making it feel stiff or forced. He is great with kids too — somehow got our baby niece in the midst of a tantrum to stop crying and actually look at the camera, which anyone with small kids knows is not easy. If you're deciding between film and digital, or just want someone who makes the day feel easy, then we highly recommend Yong!

Fun and effortless photoshoot!
We booked Yong for our engagement photoshoot and we couldn't be happier with not only the result, but also the whole process! We chose to have our photoshoot at some of our favorite spots in the city and Yong knows exactly how to capture the perfect moment for us without feeling awkward or forced. The whole experience is super fun and can't thank him enough for spending the day with us, making sure we have all the options to choose from!
