Hi! I'm an editorial wedding and portrait photographer based in Illinois, but I'm willing to travel anywhere with you. I've been in the industry for 5 years and have really found a love for weddings. Van Horn photography is owned and run by me, Melissa Van Horn. My fiancé does videography as an add on option and we are getting married this Fall 2026!! So we can relate to the stress of weddings. We are here to help out anyway we can. I can't wait to hear about your wedding and how I can help bring your vision to life.

I am dedicated to you. I may be the photographer but I'm with you from the beginning of the day until the end. I spend time getting to know you and your vision so that I can create your dream wedding photos and wedding experience. Hot? I have fans. Need a 5 min break from the party? I got you. The other thing I pride myself in is my artistry. I want to make moments feel authentic but worthy of framing. Photos are meant to feel like you.

    Made us feel instantly at ease

    Melissa from Van Horn Photography is so nice and easy to work with. Her communication was clear and organized, which made everything feel stress-free leading up to the big day. During our wedding, she had great ideas for shots, gave us solid direction, and made sure we got all the photos we wanted. She even helped re-curl my hair to make sure I looked my best in every frame. Melissa's work is intentional yet still feels organic and natural, which is exactly what we were looking for. We felt super comfortable around her the whole time, and we couldn't be happier with how our photos turned out. We've continued to use her for all of our big life events!

    As someone who has known Melissa for over 10 years, she is the real deal! Melissa exceeded all of my expectations for our wedding day. Typically, couples book me about 13 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
Yes! My fiancé does professional videography. You always have the option to add on videography.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 5 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement. Again, This has never happened. I will show up rain or shine for you as long as I'm able!
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 10-12 weeks after your wedding. I do send a preview gallery after the wedding weekend. This way you can see what they will look like and share them with your guests. Within this time, you can also expect to receive a high resolution gallery. There's a link that you can share with your loved ones and order prints.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal for no additional charge Final galleries photo quantities will vary based on the package you select.
Yes! If you request a second shooter, I will freelance a trusted professional photographer to work with me and capture the day!
