Photographer of real people from all walks of life.

While some photographers emphasize their gear or trendy post-processing, I take pride in subject-photographer interaction - the relation I build with clients, picking up on nuances in pose and expression while we shoot, anticipating the viewers' response - because ultimately, that's how photographs that matter to us are created. I'm a native New Yorker who found myself relocating to Los Angeles and making it my home. Wherever you'd like to have your wedding, it would be my pleasure to be your photographer.

Over time, a pattern reveals itself among the people who reach out to me. They want someone who produces a timeless look they could've enjoyed fifty years ago or fifty years from today. This is reflected in my editing as well as my photojournalistic eye for real moments. They want someone who isn't afraid of low light. All of my lighting skills are derived from awareness of natural light. Any flash should not distract or erase the original mood of a scene. As mentioned prior, lastly, they want someone who is relatable and easy to get along with. If we're spending a full day together, great conversation and humor pay dividends!

    Excellent photographer

    It was a delight to work with Stephen for our wedding. We couldn’t be happier with the photos from both our Hindu ceremony as well as our western wedding. He was flexible enough to work beyond the original number of hours on a hot Malibu day for our Hindu wedding. He sourced a great second photographer to cover all the moments in our western wedding. The pictures are mesmerizing. He really listened to what we wanted and lent his talent to provide us with terrific and special images. He captured so many candid pictures of our family and friends and it has given us a lot of joy to look at them. Stephen was professional, considerate and wonderful to work with. And his pictures show that he is a true artist! Look forward to working with him again!

    Incredible, Artistic Photographer

    Stephen was a delight to work with throughout our engagement and on the day of our wedding. He is a calm, cool, and professional photographer who was always supportive of our ideas and able to lend fantastic input regarding posing, setting, and album design. Stephen always had incredible and talented assistants who were able to find tremendous shots at both our engagement and wedding shoots. The quality and style of his work were exactly what we were looking for -- more candid and 'in-the-moment' than posed and portrait-y (though we certainly got plenty of family portraits too!) We would be very happy to work with Stephen again for any future photography needs.

    Fantastic & Friendly Photographer

    Stephen Tang is an awesome guy and a fantastic photographer. He had us do an engagement shoot and it was a great opportunity to get to know him. He has a great eye for shots and how to pose us. He got great photos while making sure we also had plenty of time to party! Stephen comes highly recommended to all of our friends and family.

    Stellar Photographer

    I can not express how much I appreciate Stephen's work for our wedding (but I'll give it a try). From the first time we met, I could tell he was exactly what I was looking for. Someone who could take a group of dorky introverts and make them look like the stars of the show without making us feel silly or stressed. On the day of our wedding, he was able to keep up with our crazy huge wedding party and fast paced timeline. He was a hit with my family, my grandmother is still talking about how sweet he was and what a great job he did. After the wedding he took a couple weeks to edit the photos( a very quick turnaround in my opinion). I was absolutely dazzled. The moments he was able to capture will be celebrated in the family album for decades. I would recommend Stephen to anyone that wants a beautiful and personal photography experience that will truly reflect the soul of his subjects.

    Stephen is great!!

    We had the privilege of having Stephen photograph our entire wedding day! We could not be more happier with how the entire day was documented. Photography was one of the top vendors we prioritized our budget for. Each photo came out so great and I'm having a great time sharing them with family and friends. Stephen has wonderful communication, organization, and photography talents! - Planning: I found Stephen from Instagram and it so happened that he had worked with both our coordinator and venue previously. What attracted me first from his profile was his lighting/editing style - not too much overly exposed or brighten or romanticized photos. We not only preferred a more realistic color in our photos, but knew that our venue may not accommodate that bright style due to it being mainly indoors. Stephen took the initiative to set up a first meeting as well. We appreciated this as I know it's important for photographers and their clients to have good chemistry. We appreciated how straight forward Stephen was and how much his passion for capturing raw moments showed. It was clear that he shows that he likes to have fun while taking photographs and trying all kinds of ways of shooting, which was definitely demonstrated on the day of. Stephen was very organized and punctual from contracts to scheduling to communication. - Day of: Stephen was great during the wedding day! He was organized and made his own schedule with our coordinator's to be sure to get all requested and desired shots in during the day. He came so prepared with so many different poses in mind that there was never a moments where us and the wedding party never felt awkward or anything! Taking photos was fun and a very smooth and memorable process. I had the most fun taking pictures with my girls. I loved all the photos of the family, guests, and dancing as well. Stephen even took some time out during dancing to get some cool couple shots at night. I appreciated the film shots as well. Stephen took authority throughout the day and was so kind and accommodating. - Post-wedding: Stephen edits so quickly!! We got sneak peaks within a couple days. I wasn't sure how long all the photos would take and a few friends were saying theirs took 2-3 months! However, Stephen got an entire day's worth of photos to us in one month!!! He got the guest and family shots down, couple and bridal party shots captured, and perfect couple shots as well. I love all the lighting and color editing. He captured great candid moments as well. We have been staring at them ever since receiving them! Thank you so much Stephen for providing these photos for us! They are something we will remember our special day by! It was great working with you!
