Hi, I’m Chris Wood—founder of SD Photo Studio and a wedding photographer with over 24 years of experience capturing authentic, timeless moments. Based in San Diego, I’ve had the honor of documenting weddings all across Southern California, In addition to my work behind the camera, I’ve spent the past 10 years teaching photography at UC San Diego, including courses in portrait photography. I believe the best photos come from a relaxed atmosphere and genuine connection. I’ll help you feel confident in front of the camera and deliver a final gallery that truly reflects your day.

What sets me apart is 24 years of wedding photography experience and 10 years teaching portrait photography at UCSD. Unlike many California studios that assign a photographer from their team, I personally photograph every wedding—bringing my full expertise, attention to detail, and calm, professional presence to your day.

    My husband and I used Wedgewood for our wedding. They offered multiple vendors, but I knew after the first phone call with Chris, that he was going to be our photographer. He was very professional with a wealth of knowledge since he has so much experience with photographing weddings. He assured me that when you hire SD Photo Studio, you aren't just getting a new photographer that he sends out, you get him and his expert team. We had a few phone calls, making sure every detail was perfect and what we wanted. He would always give his opinion, but ultimately it is up to the client to decide. We pretty much let him do his thing, and during the entire wedding day, we didn't have to think about photography. He captured everything we wanted and more (even my husband watching the final minutes of the Celtics game). Wedding pictures are something you'll have for the rest of your life. I am so proud to have these pictures, and they were worth every penny. Too many great ones to choose, but I included a good range. Please don't hesitate to hire Chris and SD Photo Studio for your special day; you won't regret it!
