Meet You at the Altar is about creating a ceremony that feels like you—thoughtful, personal, and grounded in what matters most. I work with couples who want more than a script, crafting ceremonies that reflect your relationship, values, and the life you’re building. As a non-denominational officiant serving Maryland & Washington, DC, I welcome couples of all backgrounds, including interfaith, LGBTQ, Jewish, Christian, and blended families. What began as officiating a wedding for friends has grown into a passion for creating meaningful, personalized ceremonies. I bring a calm, reassuring presence so you can be fully present for every moment.

With more than 25 years in hospitality and the wedding world, I bring a calm, steady presence to your day. I’ll guide you through the process with care and intention so you can feel fully present in each moment—especially the ones you’ll remember forever. At the heart of it all, my goal is simple: for you to feel seen, supported, and truly represented as you say “I do.”

    LAURA IS GREAT!

    Laura was recommended on a DMV wedding facebook group. After some research, I decided to book her because she had photos of her officiating a ceremony in the exact spot where my ceremony was going to be held. Laura made our ceremony so special by incorporating touching moments throughout. She contact me and my now-husband separately to tell her what we love most about each other. She read those during the ceremony. Laura had the idea to present our mothers with a rose - something they really appreciated. Our guests were really happy with Laura and kept remarking about her great work. An aside - Laura got to our outdoor venue before I did and she was super helpful in setting up the two tables and few chairs I had delivered. Definitely did not plan for her to have to manage that but totally appreciated it! You should definitely book with her!!

    Amazing officiant

    Laura married my husband and i in October 2024. She made it so special! Without knowing us she crafted her speech to fit us perfectly. During my vows I got emotional as one would and she comforted me which was so special for me. She gave us our vow book that she read off of which is such a beautiful momento to have from our special day. She was also gracious enough to mail off our copy to the court house. I highly recommend Laura for your wedding!

    The Only Person I Wanted to Officiate My Wedding

    Having Laura from Meet You at the Altar officiate our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. From our first conversation, we could tell that she truly cared about making our ceremony personal and meaningful.     Officiated a perfect ceremony

    Laura was fantastic. She met with us multiple times before the event to formulate our perfect ceremony. She clearly has lots of experience as she was able to give us many options to choose from when creating the custom officiant script. The day of, she led it beautifully and it was unforgettable. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely! From adding in readings to hand fasting, we can add or change any part of the ceremony.
Well over 100. I have done ceremonies in English, Spanish and English/Spanish. My couples have been a compilation of religions or completely non-denominational, including customs and readings that reflect each individual.
I do on occasion, but while I think I am the most important person (right beside the couple) at the actual wedding, I am the least important at the rehearsal. I am always happy to share the wedding outline with the event coordinator, dj, photographer, etc. so one of them can run the rehearsal. That being said, I am happy to attend, but there is an additional fee.
Of course! The framework of the ceremony is basically the same, we just reframe the closing statements.
Since 2015 when I added it into my event and wedding planning business. It was a nice addition to our services, but I have since stopped the event part of the business to focus completely on working with the couples and creating their ceremonies.
