Head officiant

A Portland native, and founder of EC Matrimony, Ernie has become an expert in all things weddings. Having recently stepped away from a career in Marketing/Public Relations, Ernie has taken his business from part-time to full-time in 2021 to help more couples realize their wedding dreams. Throughout his 18 years in the industry, and having performed over 3,000 weddings, it’s easy to see why he’s been featured in bridal magazines, national IG posts, and been featured in Huffington Post twice, and on realty TV. Add to that the dozens of national awards he’s won over the years, and you can tell why he’s in demand as a wedding officiant.

~ This is a personalized, unique ceremony created for you! ~ Allows couples to create the ceremony they've always wanted. We will walk through every aspect of the ceremony during our consultation, including ideas that you may not have thought about. ~ Option of having consultation over the phone or in-person (if schedule allows).

~ This is an all inclusive package specifically designed for weddings on the Oregon Coast, Mount Hood, and The Gorge. This package includes everything in the Silver Package, and the travel fee is included in the price listed.

    Great Officiant

    I highly recommend Ernie as a Wedding Officiant! He was super nice from the moment we had our phone meeting. He was there to answer questions when needed, when we hired him he sent us different Vows and unity Ceremony options. He showed up on time, he came from Portland to Albany and was dressed very nicely, the Ceremony went exactly how we envisioned it. He is s great Officiant! The only regret I have is we forgot to get a picture with him personally, but we didnt think about it.

    Definitely recommend

    From our first conversation with Ernie at EC Matrimony, we knew we made a good choice. He took time to really listen and get to know us, which made such a difference when it came time to write our ceremony. We gave him creative freedom, and what he came up with was perfect, his words and delivery felt like they were written just for us. Ernie was really helpful through the entire process. His communication was smooth and easy, and the quality of his work exceeded what we expected. We'd give EC Matrimony a 10 out of 10 and would absolutely recommend Ernie to any couple looking for an officiant.

    Excellent officiant

    Ernie did an excellent job with our wedding. I would recommend him to anyone. There are a lot of options when you look for wedding venders and it can be hard to choose. When I contacted Ernie he made everything easy. He also had a lot of suggestions for what we could do during the ceremony and how the vows would work. He was also more reasonably priced than a few other options I contacted. If I could do it all again I'd go with his services no question.

    Ernie was the PERFECT wedding officiant!

    Ernie Claeson was exceptional as our wedding officiant for our August 30th wedding at Rocky Hill Events in White Salmon. From our very first call with him, we felt a warmth and kindness that put us at ease and made our decision to hire him so clear and easy to make. Ernie was organized, communicative, punctual, and on top of everything leading up to our wedding. On the wedding day, he delivered a heartfelt ceremony and message that resonated with us as the couple and our families. Our planning meeting in his office in Beaverton was so helpful and detailed. He asked a lot of questions and really sought to better understand us as people and as a couple. He really captured our story in the ceremony script and allowed us to shine on such an important day. He was a calming presence and voice, and you can tell he truly loves his job and cares about working with his couples. Would 10/10 recommend him and we want to sincerely thank Ernie and EC Matrimony for giving us the wedding ceremony of our dreams!

    EC Matrimony

    My wife and I had the best experience in our wedding. I was present at a wedding officiated by EC in 2024. By then, I wasn’t in a relationship but I already knew EC would be my officiant because I loved how they handled the wedding I attended.

Over 18 years, and averaging between 150-250 weddings per year, at this point thousands. And with my team of officiants, that number grows even bigger. It’s mind boggling how many couples we’ve helped over the years. It’s been such a tremendous honor!
The answer is simple: absolutely yes! Why wouldn’t you be able to? It’s your day, not mine. Our job is to reflect you well, and to make sure your ceremony fits you, and feels like you.
No we don’t require it. We do have some officiants who offer it, if that’s what you want. But there is no requirement asking you to fulfill premarital counseling.
Over 18 years. I started out just doing this for friends, family, and colleagues. It grew into an official part-time business in 2014. I took the business full-time in 2021.
Yes, we do rehearsals for an additional fee, when our schedule allows. However, most weddings nowadays don’t require a rehearsal. And, most couples have a wedding planner who offers the service already.
Yes! Many couples ought to get married legally through the courts, or privately with an officiant, due to medical insurances, financial reasons, or a variety of other things. It’s quite common to do a ceremony for a couple already “legally” married.
