    Great experience!

    DJ Turnip was a fantastic choice for our wedding day. From start to finish, he communicated with us in a clear and timely way, making the whole process easy and stress-free. During the reception, he did an excellent job keeping the energy up and got all our guests on the dance floor with his song choices and announcements. He even took photos throughout the night and shared them with us, which was such a nice touch. We would absolutely book him again and highly recommend DJ Turnip to any couple looking for a DJ who really cares about making their night special.

    Time of our lives!

    DJ Turnip was honestly the best vendor decision we made for our wedding. From our first conversation, he responded quickly and thought through every detail we discussed, which gave us so much confidence in his abilities. On the night of our wedding, he delivered exactly what he promised and then some—the music selection was on point, his mixing kept the energy flowing seamlessly, and he went out of his way to accommodate what my husband and I wanted while also reading our guests perfectly. You can tell he truly cares about making your night special and puts his whole heart into his work. DJ Turnip is a true professional who made our celebration unforgettable. We couldn't recommend him more highly.

    Indian-American Wedding

    DJ Turnip was seriously perfect for our wedding!! We had a mix of Indian and American guests and one of our biggest worries was finding a DJ who could make everyone happy without the music feeling like two totally separate parties. We had already talked to a few DJs who basically just said they could play whatever Indian songs we gave them, so we were honestly shocked by how much Jeff already knew about Bollywood and Indian music. He spent so much time working with us on the playlist, learning what our families liked and making sure the traditional music, Bollywood songs and modern American music all worked together. The way he mixed everything was SO good and the dance floor was packed with people from both sides of the family all night. If you’re having an Indian or mixed-culture wedding and struggling to find a DJ who actually understands the music, talk to Jeff!! We seriously could not have picked a better DJ.

    DJ Turnip knows how to pack a dance floor

    The music was amazing all night! My brother is a professional DJ, so we were really nervous if the DJ we chose would be up to his standards. DJ Turnip delivered on that promise and more. Did such a great job mixing everything together that the music never really felt like it stopped. The whole set flowed naturally, the transitions were smooth and hype, and the dance floor stayed PACKED because the energy never really dropped. Clearly know what he’s doing. One of the best!

    Great DJ!

    Our experience with Jeff was excellent from start to finish, and we highly recommend him for any event. After contacting numerous DJs, we found that many were slow to respond, lacked transparent pricing, or spent more time trying to upsell us on extras we didn't want than learning about our vision. Jeff was exactly the opposite. Communication was prompt and effortless, his pricing was fair and transparent, and he offered everything we were looking for, including sound systems for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, as well as attending our rehearsal to ensure the ceremony music went smoothly. The true measure of a great wedding vendor, though, is how they handle the unexpected. During our reception, a miscommunication left our wedding coordinator absent for much of the evening. Without missing a beat, Jeff stepped in to help keep everything on track, coordinating announcements for speeches, cake cutting, our first dance, and a group photo. He struck exactly the low-key, relaxed tone we wanted and quietly kept the evening moving behind the scenes. Jeff was professional, dependable, and genuinely invested in making our wedding a success. We're so grateful we found him and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

I encourage my clients to be very involved in the music selection process. During the planning process, I will ask you to provide a list of songs that fit the “vibe” that you are going for, and a playlist of any “must play” songs. Some clients want to select all of the music that is to be played, while other clients ask me to use my best judgement. How much you are involved is entirely up to you.
Whether or not I take requests is entirely up to you. I am happy to take requests from guests (I have a library of over 10,000 songs, and with internet access, can download almost anything I don’t have that gets requested). That said, I realize some clients would prefer that I do not and will honor your preferences
Of course! Have a song that reminds you of an old ex or just really gets on your nerves? Let me know and I will make sure it does not get played
I use professional QSC speakers, Shure professional wireless/lapel microphones, MacBook Pro laptops, and Pioneer turntables. Other equipment can vary based on the size and requirements of the event.
Included in every package is all of the necessary equipment to perform basic DJ services, including sound equipment, microphones, MC/DJ services for the duration of the event, and setup / tear down
I do between 50-100 events per year
Yes! I have other add-ons to make your day extra special. Check out the "much more" section to learn a few of the enhancements we have available
I recommend booking your date 6-9 months before the event to ensure that the date is available
I will hold your date for up to 7 days once you let me know you would like to book the date. During that time, I must receive a 50% deposit to secure the booking. If you are unable to provide a deposit within that timeframe, that date will be made available to other potential clients until the deposit is received.
This has never happened in 10+ years of DJing events. That said, I understand there is a first time for everything, and I am prepared. I have an on-call system and are a member of a local DJ organization that will assist in finding you a replacement in time for your event
Pricing starts at $249, and packages vary based on time commitment, equipment needed, travel, and other factors. If you would like to get a custom quote, contact me and I'm happy to get you a more specific quote for your needs
I try to take a minimalist approach as an MC unless requested otherwise. I believe the focus should be on you and your event. That said, I did stand-up for 10+ years as well, so I am very comfortable being on a microphone
I believe a great DJ doesn’t compete for attention – they shape the room so the right moments can happen naturally. My philosophy is simple: build the atmosphere, read the room, and create a seamless experience where the focus stays on you and the event
I do all sorts of events – weddings, corporate events, dance halls, ballroom dance competitions, and more. If there is music to be played, I can be there!
I have an extensive library of music that varies based on the event, and I am familiar with a long list of genres. I do my best to tailor each set to my client’s preferences and tastes
Yes! As long as I am available, I can do that for an additional fee
After initial booking, I will send you links an app that will help you to create playlists so you can add songs and music that help me get a sense of your preferences. About a month before the event, I will schedule a call with you to discuss those preferences, day-of schedule, logistics, etc. I am also on-call and available to discuss any questions you might have leading up to the wedding
Yes! While I DJ 50-100 events a year, I am also a full-time ballroom dance instructor and have worked with hundreds of couples on their first dance. I have discounted combined packages for dance lessons and DJ services available. To learn more about dance instruction, visit RJDanceCo.com
