Lisa, Victoria, and the team at Bill Miller's Castle are truly the best. From the moment you step into the Castle to start your tour, you're surrounded by history - not only of the surrounding cities, but for the Miller family as well. The care and love that they have for this space is clearly evident and the character brings such charm and warmth. It truly was the perfect place for us. Lisa was our guiding light throughout the whole process. We felt welcomed when we were with her and she took such great care of us and the details of our day, which allowed everything to turn out exactly as we had imagined. Her knowledge of local vendors as well was truly so helpful for us as we planned our wedding from out of town. There truly is no better place to plan an event than at Bill Miller's if you're in Branford or the surrounding areas. [photos by Rob Skinner Photography]

Saint Clements Castle provided a beautiful venue and kind staff for our wedding day. We especially appreciated our sales coordinator, Alyssa, who was professional, fast, and clear in her communication throughout the planning process. When rain forced us to move the ceremony indoors, the team quickly adapted the art gallery for us. The servers and bridal attendants were also attentive and went above and beyond to help finish set up when our florist left early. Our guests had incredibly kind things to say about the servers, and overall we had a great experience. It was also lovely to have a place that was a one stop shop for event planning! We did lose some decor in the shuffle which was an inconvenience, and some of the instructions for set up I left were not followed (our confetti got lost, only four guests got packets, the bridal suites did not have the supplies we left for them). My husband’s family were also really upset with one of the managers on property who wouldn’t allow them to walk in a covered area and was a bit rude about it, despite an event not happening and the rain being a torrential downpour causing unsafe conditions for his elderly family to walk in. Overall we had a great experience, and would recommend the castle to anyone planning a wedding!

Full disclaimer, my husband and I both work for Connecticut Wedding Group. So, you may think this post is a tad biased, but we'd have to disagree... You see at the start of our engagement we did entertain some "obligatory" research, but, this was incredibly short lived. We came to the quick conclusion, before we even got to scheduling tours, that there's simply no way we could ever put our biggest investment in anyones hands but our own planning & culinary teams. Every weekend we see our couples share their big day with all of the most important people in their lives. A moment you only get once, and our team pours their whole hearts into making every minute pure perfection. My husband was (hands down) here for the food, while I was here so I didn't need to plan my own wedding and worry about all the logistics that my brain normally can't avoid. Our guests continue to rave. It was the best day ever, and we are so deeply grateful to our team for doing what they do. Our only regret is we can't do it again and again and again.

The Lace Factory

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides a dedicated team on-site
  • Pets can join the celebration
  • Combines timeless elegance with history

Venue considerations

  • Best for events with big guest lists
  • No on-premises lodging options
I honestly forget if I already wrote a review for The Lace Factory, but recently I was reflecting on our wedding day and a few things stuck out that had me so thankful we held our reception at The Lace Factory. From the beginning of the planning process the team is extremely clear and communicative. I love a checklist and theirs is one that ensures nothing will be forgotten. Our guests are still sharing how gorgeous the venue was, how incredible the food spread was, and one detail I was surprised by, from my cousin who has been to their fair share of large celebrations. "The food was not only delicious, but they managed to serve such a large group and the food was actually hot!" This speaks to the well-oiled machine that is The Lace Factory and it must be emphasized that this machine has heart. They accomplished another feat of having my family and I not worry about the severe allergy of my dad, as they adjusted the menu accordingly, without us having to miss out on all the options. This carried over to assist some guests who also had specific dietary needs. I realize this sounds boring, but it is wonderful to know your guests are safe and fed and focus on the celebrating! The Lace Factory is a venue that can transform your wedding into something beyond your dreams while holding true to your vision.

PAUL WAS ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE OUR SPECIAL REQUESTS AND PICKY GUESTS, AND WHEN WE WERE A FEW PEOPLE SHORT ON OUR GUEST COUNT THEY WERE ABLE TO MAKE UPGRADES SO WE WEREN’T JUST WASTING MONEY. SERVICE WAS SEAMLESS AND WE LOVED THE DUET STYLE MAINS. IT ALLEVIATED STRESS NOT HAVING TO ASK EVERYONE WHAT THEY WANTED TO EAT. PAUL MADE SURE OUR SPECIAL DAY WAS PERFECT. HE WAS AROUND ALL DAY TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS CORRECT AND HE HANDLED ALL THE VENDORS AS THEY ARRIVED AND WE WERE ABLE TO RELAX AND ENJOY THE WEDDING! We didn’t need a planner. The bridal attendant was not as good as I’d hoped but my friends and family stepped in to help where needed. Aside from that everything went perfectly.

We hosted our post-wedding farewell breakfast in a private room at Tarrytown House Estate. Our guests loved the venue given its beautiful grounds and delicious food. We stayed in a hotel room with a roof deck in the King Mansion. The room (especially the bathroom) is quite dated (the bathroom was not very clean and the sink was not draining properly). With that said, the roof deck view is breathtaking.

We could not be more happy with how our wedding turned out at Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club. There are so many things that make this venue special. The service, the scenery, the food, and the run of show were all spectacular. The service. We received attentive and detailed service throughout the entire planning process. The director of events, Bob, answered all of our emails promptly and with detail. He is a wonderful man who goes above and beyond to make sure that we were thoroughly satisfied and feeling well taken care of. Bob was so fantastic at helping us come up with solutions to challenges that emerged at different stages of the planning process, and we couldn’t have pulled off the party we wanted without his patience, thoughtfulness, and support. On the day of, we were made to feel so special by all the staff at MBYC. We were given a personal “bridal attendant” who followed us around all day and attended to any needs we had that came up- like holding my bouquet during photos, getting us fresh drinks, grabbing some items from the bridal suite. All of our guests were telling us how impressed they were by the level of service and consideration they received from all the staff. Everyone was kind, professional, and in great spirits. The scenery. The venue space at MB&YC is truly RIGHT on the water! It is so incredibly gorgeous. The cocktail hour is on a beautiful deck over the water. The reception is in a ballroom with giant windows facing the water. The space does not need much more decoration to feel special. It is elegant and special, yet practical, home-y, and not at all stuffy. The food. We were so impressed by the food. Typically wedding food is basic and mass produced, but every dish at MB&YC felt special. We had so many friends after the wedding recounting their favorite bites throughout the night. The mac and cheese bites as well as the New York Strip Steak were definitely crowd pleasers. Not only was the food plentiful, but it was all also incredibly tasty. Bob and his staff also made sure to take care of our guests with dietary restrictions. Everyone ate well at our wedding. The run of show. Bob and his team were working very hard the evening of our wedding to ensure the schedule was kept and everything went as planned. Leading up to the event, Bob heard all of our concerns and desires, and he was able to execute a fabulous event the evening of our wedding. I was never once concerned that something was missing or forgotten, I trusted Bob and I knew he was going to make sure we had a perfect night. Overall, definitely book your wedding here at MB&YC! We can’t speak highly enough about our special day here!

Why you'll love this venue

  • Bridal suite on site
  • Versatile for various event styles
  • Full catering menu to choose from

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you are drawn to more unconventional venues
  • No free parking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
Overall, we are happy with our wedding day. The Mansion is in the process of being renovated/restored and so far it is looking beautiful! The hotel rooms were recently updated and guests were happy with them. The food was also FANTASTIC! (All of our guests were raving about all of the food). They clearly are a well oiled machine when it comes to throwing weddings. We also had our welcome dinner there the night before, which went amazingly and there was so much food everyone was happy! However, there were a few hiccups that bothered us considering how much money is put into having a wedding & how this venue does weddings all.the.time. so expectations are high. In the planning process, the event coordinator position was replaced 3 times in the year we were planning our wedding with them, the last replacement being the week before our wedding. The final replacement did not have any of our vendor info or cake selections and called me 4 days before my wedding about it (...scary). It must've been a miscommunication from the coordinator prior to her, as that girl never responded to any of our emails; I'm sure she did not keep any notes. The current coordinator also could not answer simple questions our friends/family asked her and was very pushy. On our wedding day, I was paired with a Maitre D who was very sweet, but I'm not sure about her "years" of experience that she claimed to have. While taking photos with our photographer she wasn't paying attention and wasn't fixing my dress/veil every time wind blew it out of place so the photographer had to leave his place each time to fix it himself (it was a windy day so this happened a lot). The photographer also asked her to assist in a "veil toss" shot and she ripped the veil from my head, yanking my head back, when she was just supposed to toss it up in the air. It hurt and pulled on my hair style that was supposed to last all night. I mentioned before the food was excellent, and the Chef is incredible. However, when we booked our venue last year, we were adamant about wanting a real wedding cake--not a fake one you cut one slice into for pictures. We were told by one of the event planners there that all tiers were going to be real cake, but during our cake cutting, we cut into styrofoam...it was disappointing. The cake they served was delicious, but we thought we were paying for a real cake because we were told it would be 100% real. We probably would not have booked this venue had we known we'd get a fake cake; it was something my dad made sure to ask at every venue we checked out, it was important to him. Additionally, some rude comments were overheard by our guests made by various staff members about our wedding. As a business owner whose business is to also provide a service, that is absolutely unacceptable, especially while on the job where people can hear you. Jazmin, the Chef, and the front desk ladies were very pleasant and professional to work with, but no one else there seemed to know what they were doing. It ended up working out but again, with how many weddings this place throws, you'd expect a better level of professionalism.

We started the wedding planning process by starting to look at venues. Falkirk was the first venue we had toured and immediately fell in love with it. From seeing the golf course, the waterfall, the gazebo, and incredible views, it was breathtaking and we imagined ourselves getting married there immediately. We met with Andrea during our tour, and had the pleasure of getting to work with her throughout our planning process, and was absolutely incredible on the day of our wedding! She made herself available to answer our (many) questions, going over timelines, and ensuring that our vision and dreams for the day came true. They had it all, from phenomenal staff to incredible food, not to mention the stunning views. We could not have asked for better! They truly make you feel like a VIP throughout the entire wedding weekend. Andrea was an absolute gem to work with, and made sure everything we dreamed of came true. And when we got the opportunity to have fireworks during our reception?! To this day, we have friends and family still talking about the firework show. Andrea worked seamlessly with other vendors and the firework staff to make sure it was a surprise show that no one would forget. Our wedding day was a dream, and we are so glad we had it at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club. We are so incredibly happy we got the pleasure to work with them, and would recommend any couples that are starting the wedding planning process, to reach out to them.

The Mansion at Oyster Bay was the perfect venue for our wedding. Right after we contacted the venue, Jennifer Sammarco responded and set up a tour for us immediately. From the moment we pulled up to the beautiful grounds and mansion, we fell in love with the venue. Jennifer did a great job of helping us envision our wedding day, and thoroughly explained all of their package deals to help us stay within our budget. Throughout the entire process, Jennifer was so helpful and answered every single question that we had (and we had a lot!). She was always available, right up to the day of the wedding. We were able to meet some vendors during the seasonal showcases that the venue has, and we were able to taste the food and drink at a tasting closer to the date of the wedding. Leading up to the wedding, Mike Langis, the maître-d' reached out and coordinated a drop off meeting with us to drop off all of our decorations and day of items for the wedding. Mike was so incredibly kind and accommodating and made us feel at ease that he would be on the ball the day of. He absolutely was, as well as the rest of the staff at the venue. Mike helped put out all of our decorations in the morning, helped rearrange items from the ceremony to the reception, and was even able to quickly and quietly remedy a situation where we forgot a few boxes of favors, without interrupting any of the festivities of the day. He ran the entire rehearsal with the wedding party for the ceremony that we opted to have on site and connected our playlists to the venue speakers for cocktail hour and after party. Any requests that we had for coordination of the entire day was fantastically handled by Mike! We also paid to have use of the bridal suite for the entire morning, and Natalie was our bridal attendant. She was excellent, steaming my entire wedding gown, bringing drinks and food to us in the bridal suite, and helped carry my dress, drinks and food during photos. We were told that we had the A-Team between Mike and Natalie, and that couldn't have been more true! So many of our guests told us how exceptional the staff was for food and bar service as well. Everyone was so impressed by the beauty of the venue, the quality of the food and drinks, and the professionalism of the staff. We were so fortunate to have found the Mansion at Oyster Bay, because it honestly had everything that we were looking for on our wedding day. If you are looking for a beautiful venue with exceptional staff, has flexible options and packages to help you stay within budget, and is experienced in hosting weddings, this is definitely the place for you! Absolutely magical. Getting married at Rushmore Estate was like stepping into a dream. From the moment we arrived at the grand gated entry to our lakeside bonfire after-party, everything was beyond what I ever imagined. The property is stunning, with 50 acres of pure serenity, scenic views, trails, and that private lake? Unreal. The staff was incredible—so helpful, patient, and genuinely dedicated to bringing our vision to life. What really set the experience apart was how thoughtful and accommodating they were from start to finish. Months before the wedding, they helped coordinate an amazing bachelorette weekend for me and my bridesmaids. They arranged airport pickups, planned day trips into the city, and even recommended a walking trail right on the property. The night before the wedding, we had a peaceful slumber party in one of the estate’s suites. No stress, just laughter, wine, and the kind of calm I never thought possible before a wedding. Every single detail, from the day trips to the fire pit after-party, was handled with care. If you're looking for a venue that’s elegant, relaxing, and full of heart, Rushmore Estate is it.

The setting was absolutely beautiful and created the perfect backdrop for our special day. Cindy and the entire 650 crew were phenomenal! Their attention to detail and commitment to making our day perfect was evident in everything they did. I wish I had more time to give each of them a hug for their incredible work! The food and drinks were simply amazing — to say they were delicious would be an understatement. What truly set this venue apart was Cindy’s dedication to ensuring everything ran smoothly.
