The Sanctuary Hall is a stunning, historical landmark in the heart of Portland's Arts District. Step back into time as you bask in the warm glow of 30' hand-made Povey Brothers stained glass installations and run your fingertips along the hand-carved 130 year old Douglas-Fir pews. The Hall's rounded and layered design allows for every wedding to feel like an intimate affair, be it seven people or 700. Beneath the Sanctuary Hall are many more multi-use rooms, including a banquet hall, commercial kitchen, chapel library, multiple dressing rooms. The venue is equipped with modern sound, lighting, and video capturing and streaming equipment. We have a fully functional pipe organ, one of the largest in Oregon, and a 7' Steinway Grand piano at your disposal. As an all-inclusive venue, we include staffing, setup, use of rentals (tables, chairs, linens, etc), clean-up, and an event specialist team to assist you with every package!

My wife and I wanted to get married in a beautiful space, but we didn't want to be forced into a traditional, religious ceremony. Sanctuary Hall was the perfect venue! It's beautiful, with stained glass, old wood, lots of space, even a balcony. It's a very old building, with a good feeling to it. As soon as we saw it, it was easy to picture our ceremony there. Steve was a joy to work with - he was super-accommodating, the paperwork was simple, and he offered us all the options we needed. Additionally, the price was far less than most other places we had looked at. There was a minister available if we wanted, but we chose to have an ordained friend perform the service, which worked out fine. Steve was willing to move around furniture, let us use whichever rooms we wanted for preparation, changing, signing of documents, and so on. There was also an organist – Grant – available for the service. He was also amazing to work with, coming up with arrangements of music for us. Everyone was able to meet for a rehearsal a few weeks before the ceremony, which helped things run smoothly. The actual ceremony was beautiful, with everything coming together as planned. They even rang the bell for us as we left the church :) I highly recommend Sanctuary Hall to anyone looking for an amazing space in Portland. Easy to get to, garage parking nearby, and just an all-around excellent experience. ----- This review was produced without the use of AI, generative technology, grammar-checking/suggesting software, chatbots, or other assistive tools, other than a simple spell checker. Verify weather contingency plans with venues that offer indoor/outdoor options because Portland weather can be unpredictable. Ask about vendor restrictions since some venues only allow select service providers while others bundle everything into comprehensive packages. Discuss setup timelines so you know exactly when your decorators can access the space. Confirm parking availability especially for downtown venues like Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel where garage access matters. Check noise restrictions for venues near residential areas to avoid having your celebration cut short. These questions help prevent unpleasant surprises as your wedding day approaches.
