Lone Oak Farm and Fallen Oak Distilling were built to be a place to gather. A place to taste. A place to enjoy rich flavors from the grains of our ground. A place born from a passion for crafting high-quality spirits. Lone Oak and Fallen Oak sit on 28.66 beautiful acres. And this is not just a brewery or distillery at a farm. Rather, it’s a farm with a brewery and distillery. It's fields and streams, a pond, and wide-open spaces. It’s wildflowers and wildlife. It’s crops – barley and hops – and berries and hay. It’s bees raised to produce honey. It’s sunsets and a majestic view. It's private event spaces – carefully built, piece by piece by world-class craftsmen, using local lumber. It's a family-owned business where the terroir of the land is infused into every cocktail we create. It's fields where we grow corn and barley used for our whiskeys, vodka, gin and beer. It’s live music that will feed your soul, a taproom that feels like home, and a Speakeasy that takes you back in time.

A wonderful location to hold a personal or work event! Just celebrated an intimate (14 people) surprise dinner in the downstairs dining/boardroom and it was simply put, a perfect evening. The room is comfy and well apportioned, the catered food was truly out of this world, both in choices and in quality, and the personalized service the evening of the event was exceptional. A VIP experience and a highly recommended location for your next special gathering. Very highly recommended from someone who entertains often. Can’t wait to be back!

On April 13, 2024, we held our wedding and reception at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center. During the planning of our wedding, we worked with Amy, Sonia, and finally Katherine to create our ideal day. All were very pleasant, knowledgeable, flexible and accommodating with our arrangements, and were very responsive answering numerous questions that we had. The wedding set up was exactly as discussed and the transition from outdoor to indoor on the day of the wedding (way too windy a day for an outdoor ceremony) was seamless, thanks to the wonderful staff! The reception area, bar, and food was set up exactly as had been discussed and the food was delicious! All of the guests commented on how wonderful the food and staff were. Staff also was very helpful with connecting our music through the hotel's WIFI system. We were even given a room for dressing and preparing for the ceremony. The atmosphere was very relaxed and professional (but not stuffy) and we never felt rushed or anxious about any of the arrangements. The amount owed was exactly what we had been told so there were no surprises there. Overall, it was a perfect day and the staff and facilities at the Marriott couldn't have been any better. I would not hesitate to hold any future events there, knowing the kind attention paid to every detail to make every event special.

I found this place before even getting engaged. I always knew our wedding would to be local so this was kind of a no brainer. Once we visited, we fell in love with the barn! The esthetic and vibe was perfect, and you don't want to take from that so very little decor was needed as I really wanted to highlight the beauty of the venue. Lauren and Kara were WONDERFUL! I could not have asked for a better team to take care of us for our wedding day. From ensuring that I wasn't stressed, and that everything I needed was taken care of was perfect. They have a curated listed for vendors so if you aren't sure where to start highly recommend looking through their list. I also had family coming from out of town, so there was a AirBnB that they host so my whole family was also able to stay at a gorgeous home close by instead of a hotel. Everyone enjoyed how close it was to the venue and really loved being able to spend more time together. I can easily say, Lauren and Kara are a team to beat! They know all the answers to your questions, and if they don't they will figure it out for you. They really made our big day feel like one of the best, and somehow everything went perfectly thanks to them! I will forever be thankful for their help and for being such a big part of our day.

OMG!!! My husband and I got married here last summer and when I tell you this was the most magical place to have my wedding. The Hand Chapel is gorgeous and the staff was so helpful and accommodating when it came to scheduling and touring the venue. It was also super affordable, considering my husband and I were getting married a little bit younger it was nice to be able to still have the chance to get married in such a beautiful location on a budget. The cherry on top was this beautiful sunset that we ended up seeing right before our cocktail hour. I'm so happy that we made this decision to have our special day here.

Friends Meeting of Washington

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, our meeting house was constructed in 1930 during the administration of the Quaker president, Herbert Hoover. It was built to serve as a house of worship and a gathering place for those wanting to “seek peace and pursue it.” The building was enlarged in 1950. In 1970, we acquired the red brick Quaker House, Carriage House and garden at 2121 Decatur Place NW. Built in the 1920s and also on the National Register, these buildings today house a number of nonprofit organizations and small businesses as well as additional event spaces. With multiple interior spaces and gardens, we can accommodate events of various sizes and layouts, from 2 to 300. We host individuals, non-profit organizations, and for-profit entities. Our event rental prices are affordable, with discounts offered to non-profit organizations in alignment with our values. Whether you are planning a wedding, celebration, a corporate meeting, we can accommodate you.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides a dedicated team on-site
  • Picturesque garden backdrop
  • Designed for grand celebrations

Venue considerations

  • No all-inclusive dining options
  • No on-premises lodging options
  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
Our recent wedding at the Friends Meeting of Washington (near Dupont Circle) was the best possible choice of venue we could make. The staff was helpful, professional, caring, and did all they could to make our day run smoothly. It was lovely to hold the ceremony, reception, and the dancing in one venue. Their beautiful, light-fillled Meeting House space on the second floor well accommodated our very large group of family and friends, and their newly renovated courtyard made it possible to hold the reception and dinner outdoors. We danced indoors on the first floor. It was memorable to me, my beloved, and my family members that I could be married in the same room where my family attended Quaker meeting in the 1960's, where my father's memorial service was held in the mid 'seventies, and where I attended services regularly when I was a young working woman in the 1980's. Many thanks to Brian Luttenegger, Genevi Schindehutte , and the FMW community for all you did to make our wedding day so memorable.

The Watergate hotel was a fantastic spot for a wedding reception! They transformed the ballroom into the perfect dance floor, served amazing food, and incorporated all the specific set-up I asked for. Our guests raved about the cocktail hour hors d'ourves. We loved the food & the tasting session they put together was amazing. We worked with Megan and Alexandra, who walked us through the different blueprints of how the entrance to our reception could be set up with our seating chart, guest book, and special memories display. It was even better than we imagined!

The National Press Club

The most romantic day of your life should be historic! That's why the National Press Club in downtown DC is the perfect venue to celebrate your wedding and ensure your big day will go down in history! It's not just the place where news happens, it's where memories are made. Overlooking the White House at the top of the National Press Building, the Club has a wonderful atmosphere, terrific food, and excellent service.

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Best for events with big guest lists
  • Does not allow pets
What initially made us go with the National Press Club was that much of the most complicated aspects of putting a wedding together are available in-house. You deal with one person who asks the right questions up front, assesses your wants and needs and manages every detail from that point forward. If you’re planning your first wedding (like we were), it’s likely you’re already getting overwhelmed by the realization of how many critical details go into a successful wedding. However, at The Press Club: Reception Catering: Check. Cocktail hour catering: Check. Bar: Check. Tables / chairs / linens / etc. Check. Dance floor: Check. Audio Visual technician: Check. Alphabetizing your table place cards. Check. And so on and so on. All we needed to do was hire a deejay, a wedding photographer, a bakery for the wedding cake and the florist. And on the day of the wedding, the NPC staff took care of getting our vendors in and out and dealing with unexpected logistical issues, which there always are with any large events. The pricing was transparent and the estimate on the banquet order was what we paid. Ok, those are the practical reasons the NPC was a great choice. Now for the aesthetics. The Press Club is quintessential Washington, DC classy. They have multiple rooms that one can rent to customize your wedding experience. Our ceremony took place in the Holeman Lounge which flowed into the First Amendment Lounge, where we had our cocktail hour. The First Amendment Lounge offers stunning views of DC, including the Washington Monument and the east wing of the White House. Our reception took place in The Ballroom. We also had a room for our vendors to stage and a private space for us and the wedding party, which was such a nice touch. Many of our wedding guests were in awe of the NPC. It feels very exclusive and so many of them took the opportunity to take pictures of themselves at the Press Club podium and selfies with the luminaries and historical figures adorning the walls throughout. The service: This is where the National Press Club really stands out. We were blessed to have Renee managing the process from beginning to end. We can’t stress enough the amazing service she provided. She went through every detail with us. Twice just to make sure she captured everything correctly down to how we wanted the napkins folded. Two months before the wedding she put together the most beautiful food tasting experience for us. Before locking in our menu, we tasted a number of appetizers that would be served during cocktail hour as well as the dinner options and desserts. We also tasted a variety of wines. All in all, it was a preview of how fantastic our reception would be, with both the food and the service. The day of, Renee and David took fabulous care of us and our guests. Both really went above and beyond of what we could possibly imagine. During our rehearsal the day before, Renee noticed the wedding party was struggling a little to get the timing of the processional right and she jumped in and helped with our timing and ended up cueing us as to when to start walking the actual day. All of this combined to make our wedding a fabulous experience with zero stress. As positive as this review is, it falls hopelessly short of conveying just how wonderful our experience was.

The Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center was an exceptional choice for our wedding venue. From the very beginning, the communication with their team was outstanding. We had countless questions about everything from the catering to the day-of timeline, and they answered each one in detail through our extensive email threads. This allowed us to feel completely prepared and confident going into our big day. When we went to try the food, the Hyatt team made sure we got to meet the chef and staff, and they even let us take some samples home to think it over. On the wedding day, the meal was absolutely delicious - even though we barely had time to eat, all of our guests raved about it. The Hyatt Regency team is clearly highly experienced and professional, and I would highly recommend them to any couple looking for a formal hotel/conference style venue. They truly helped make our wedding day perfect.

The hotel is really close to DCA so it was super easy for our guests to book AND the rate was AMAZING. Having a wedding so close to the holidays made travel much more expensive so having a hotel that was so reasonably priced was such a HUGE win. There was some construction in the surrounding area but none of our guests had anything negative to say about it, so if you see this don't be concerned. The stunning view from the ballroom spoke for itself! We worked most closely with John and Christian but the Sheraton team was huge and we met many different people responsible for our event. They are a well oiled machine so you don't need to worry about what happens if someone gets sick or is stuck in traffic on your big day! The rooms were lovely, with stunning views of all of DC! Overall I would HIGHLY recommend having your wedding here :)

Our experience with Marriott Fairview Park started out rough. The initial point of contact we worked with was slow to respond, a bit short in their communication style, and overall not great. It wasn't until their director stepped in and made us feel more confident and appreciated in using this venue for our wedding reception. She was quick to respond and made sure we felt stress-free the day of. Additionally, our day-of contact was great throughout the entire process and on the day of the reception itself. Very helpful, attentive, and overall pleasant to work with. The venue itself was great but there were some low points. The tablecloths (white) didn't seem well ironed and two of them looked dirty. We had to flip one the night before and rearrange others to cover some of the blemishes. Without a doubt, Prasha and Corky were the ONLY reason we are giving this an overall 5 because they themselves were A problem solvers who made us feel heard and supported. The price felt fair and everyone loved the food (in-house catering). We would recommend this to others as long as you have Prasha and Corky on your team, otherwise, your mileage may vary.

We couldn't have asked for a better venue than Riverside on the Potomac. From our first conversation throughout the big day, Suzi and made everything feel straightforward and stress-free with clear communication at every step. When we arrived, everything was spotless and organized, and Suzi went above and beyond by capturing candid moments between my dad and me before the ceremony which were photos we never would have gotten otherwise. The space itself is stunning and cozy, with just the right amount of room to accommodate any guest list comfortably. I’d also highly recommend working with coordinator Delia-Anne, who knows the venue inside and out and made planning feel effortless. Our wedding day was exactly what we imagined, and we owe so much of that to this incredible venue & owners!

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible

We booked a tour with Cold Saturday Farm on a whim, but holy cow am I glad that we did! We met with Brittany on a pretty dreary day in the winter, and even then I could see the beauty in the venue. It truly is a blank canvas that you can really make your own. Plus, the venue checked all the boxes that were super important to us: onsite getting ready spaces for both us, free onsite parking, guest tables and chairs included, and access to the venue all day. For the price, it was a great value. Brittany did end up leaving Cold Saturday, and we do wish that had been proactively communicated to us, but her replacement, Meredith, was fantastic, especially because she started the week before our wedding (I'm pretty sure we were her first wedding at the venue). But she was incredibly helpful and friendly--we actually had guests come up to us and tell us how awesome she was! The only other thing I wish we had known ahead of time was that the getting ready room the guys used didn't have any furniture. It was still being worked on during our tours, so we didn't actually see the room until the day of. So the room may have furniture at some point. Overall, we loved Cold Saturday Farm. It is truly a hidden gem (none of our vendors have ever worked there before but all of them said they loved it), so I really love that it was a pretty unique and beautiful place to have our wedding.

We held our wedding reception at the B&O Railroad Museum and it was a perfect venue for our special day. Kathy, our main contact, was extremely responsive in answering all of our questions during the planning process. The museum was an air conditioned, spacious room that comfortably accommodated our 60 guests. We loved being able to take photos with the historic trains as a backdrop. The B&O staff, especially Kathy, ensured the room was properly set up, clean, and ready for our event. From start to finish, they made the experience nearly flawless. It was a beautiful, family-friendly atmosphere that lent itself well to celebration. I would highly recommend the B&O Railroad Museum as a unique and memorable wedding venue.
