The Lyric Theater Blue Island is a unique wedding venue located in Blue Island, IL. Established in 1917, this 12,000-square-foot theater has long been an iconic part of the town, once offering all the latest Hollywood films to starstruck moviegoers. It closed in the late 1980s but was recently fully renovated and reopened by the Garetto and Cantelo families. For both families, the theater played a role in their family history, and so bringing it back to life was a labor of love. Welcome to 223 Main! Located in the Heart of Downtown Lemont’s historical district, just three doors down from the Metra Station, 223 Main boasts a storied origin. Initially built in the 1900s as a double storefront, it transformed throughout the century into a department store, political office, coffee shop, and now an event space. 223 Main is owned and operated by a local Lemont couple, Hector and Lauren Tamayo. Hector grew up in Lemont and always loved the downtown area. At the beginning of 2020, the coffee shop leasing the space decided to close down. While brainstorming what the building could be next, the Covid-19 Pandemic hit. Lauren and Hector decided to cancel their destination wedding and remodel 223 Main. After having their intimate wedding at the building, they decided to officially launch 223 Main and open the space up to the community to enjoy.
