“The first thing we knew we wanted out of a venue was a small size - we didn't want more than 60 people in attendance. We picked this location initially with the guest count being are only criteria, but we were almost immediately surprised by so much more. The view, the gorgeous interiors, and the rich history were all things that finally led us to choose this as our venue for our wedding. But, above all else, was the venue owner - Roger Swonger. He went above and beyond to make our day as special as it possibly could be, and with his help, our wedding day went absolutely perfect. With just one planning session, and a couple of tours, Roger was able to guide us through the perfect day. He communicated well with all of the vendors, was able to provide an amazing wait staff, and bartender, and even thought of the small details - placing some flowers on our small wedding cake, putting a pen by the guest book, etc. Most importantly to us, as a now husband and husband duo, was finding a venue that was accepting. This was Roger to a tee - not only did he treat us with kindness, he guided us towards other LGBTQ friendly vendors as well. With his support and guidance, we had a wedding that completely surpassed our exceptions of what a wedding could ever look like in an area like Kentucky. I don't think there is any universe where we could have had a better wedding, and this is all thanks to Roger, and all thanks to having our wedding ceremony at Wiedemann Hill Mansion.”

“We hosted our wedding at the Taylor Mansion in Newport, KY, and stayed there with 11 guests over three nights—it was truly the perfect venue and home for such a special occasion. The mansion itself is a stunning historic property built in 1837, and staying there felt like stepping into a piece of history. Yet, it’s fully updated with modern amenities that made our stay incredibly comfortable. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, ideal for cooking for a large group, and the generous counter space made buffet-style meals easy to serve. The living areas are cozy and inviting, and the bathrooms are absolutely luxurious—especially the main bedroom’s shower with its multiple jets, which felt like a spa experience. There was plenty of room for all our guests to spread out and relax, and the Taylor Mansion team was incredibly responsive and helpful. When we had a minor issue with the disposal, they had someone out the next morning to fix it—no stress at all. As a wedding venue, the Taylor Mansion exceeded every expectation. Their team handled all the setup, including table layout and chair selection, and even brought in a cleaner before the event to ensure everything was perfect. They were available throughout the day for any questions or last-minute needs, which gave us peace of mind to truly enjoy the celebration. We held our ceremony on the first-floor balcony, which offered beautiful views and a romantic atmosphere. The old office was transformed into our dance floor, and the built-in sound system made it easy to play our Spotify playlist for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. One of the standout features was the vintage wooden bar with a brass foot rail—it added so much character to the reception space. We chose Kate Catering, one of their preferred vendors, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Their staff was professional, friendly, and helped elevate the entire experience. Whether you're looking for a unique and elegant wedding venue or a place to host a memorable group stay, Taylor Mansion is a true gem. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

She checked in frequently and coordinated multiple phone calls during the planning process to make sure that all bases were covered. The food was DELICIOUS and we received multiple compliments on it. We were delighted when Doug told us that his partner, Andrew, was moving back to the area and would be working with him at our wedding. Doug talked with us several times throughout our planning process to help us think through the reception - specifically the flow and the feeling of each moment. At our final detail meeting, Doug and Andrew helped us finalize and ramp up some ideas we had been working on (rating speeches using giant numbers that the bridal party held up, us-themed bar trivia during dinner, kiss cam instead of traditional glass-clinking kisses) and also gave us options to add on his Freedom Sticks (party lighting to help make the room/dance floor fun) and several Polaroid cameras and a book to store the pictures in. We took advantage of both and were so happy we did! On the day of the event, Doug took the role of MC and walking around the room to get pictures of people/get everyone involved and Andrew took on the role of primary DJ. Together, they were such a fun team that really brought the party to life! We had SO MANY compliments on how fun they were and I have recommended them to all of my friends with upcoming weddings!! They perfectly matched our vibe to the music and worked hard to make sure that everyone had a great time. I got access to the portal where I put my do not play, must play, etc. I built my wedding timeline in the app with ease. A few weeks before the wedding we talked all details and the vibe we wanted during cocktail hour and dinner! At the wedding they showed up around 3 for a cocktail hr around 6 to set up! It was a snow storm and in the chaos they remained calm. Jeff had the timeline in his hand and went through it with us to make sure we were good with the order. Everything throughout the night went so smoothly. My guests loved the music and were out in the dance floor all night! My package also came with uplighting which was a light pink and it truly added a magical feeling to the room.”

“I can’t rave enough about DJ Scott. He was a dream to work with!! Everything was so perfect he made sure the timing of the songs in our ceremony were right on time. He checked in with us all night at the reception to make sure we were having fun and still liked the music. He made our toddlers night playing all of his favorite music and making him feel very important!! Our son makes us pretend to be the dj and flash the living room lights so he can pretend to be on the dance floor still, DJ Scott definitely made a lasting impression with him (and us)! He made sure my husband and I had drinks all night and just made the best environment!! He set up outside at the end of the night for our private last dance and helped create a romantic and relaxing ending to the night.
