I first got into video work as a teenager, shooting skating videos with my friends. I was lucky enough to have a part-time job, and I’d saved up enough money to buy a Canon GL2 – a much sought-after camcorder. I would film my friends and I skating. We ended up purchasing a computer in order to learn video editing, and put together a full skate video after years of stacking footage. I sold that first video to a skate shop in Bakersfield.

My passion for photography and videography all started in a darkroom I built in a closet under the stairs as a high school student. I loved the idea of composing an image within the frame and then watching the photograph materialize like magic before my eyes in the wash of chemicals. When I was 18, my dad bought our family’s first video camera. I was immediately fascinated with the new possibility of capturing moving images, and what I could further create with this tool.
