When you go on a session with me, I will not only make you feel comfortable, but I will make sure you look good! I will give you prompts to keep you moving and laughing. I love what I do. I found my way to professional photography in a roundabout way, having started my working career as a marine scientist and environmental educator in CA and then on Maui. After years immersed in the ocean and hundreds of hours spent underwater, I realized that I was happiest on days when I could adventure freely with a camera in hand. The drive to learn more and become a better photographer lead me back to school on the east coast, where I ended up finding a new dream career and a home and community that I love.

It sounds cheesy but I love capturing authentic and candid moments and giving you photos that you can look back on and love; I've been photographing for over 20+ years. I never realized (until going full-time with photography) that photography has always been such a present part of my life; I love documenting these moments and having them to look at later. I notice all of the small details, the exchange of smiles during a ceremony, or the look in your partner's eye when they see you for the very first time walking down an aisle. I'll capture it!

My name is Mark and I created “This Insane Idea” with the vision that anything is possible. I've had a passion for photography my entire life, capturing moments around me in the most authentic ways until one day my wife told me “go full time”, it was insane. I fell in love with wedding photography and the emotion it brought out for everyone involved. Family, love, laughter and memories are four things that I think about on a daily basis, I’m practically addicted.
