Why is New York the Perfect Wedding Destination?

New York gives you incredible variety for your special day, from Manhattan's iconic skyline to the charming countryside of Upstate. You can enjoy timeless elegance at The Plaza Hotel with its grand ballrooms overlooking Central Park, or take in breathtaking panoramic views of Manhattan at Tribeca Rooftop. Brooklyn offers photography-friendly industrial-chic spaces like The Foundry with its character-filled exposed brick and factory windows. Head Upstate and you'll find City Winery Hudson Valley where your celebration unfolds against the backdrop of a working vineyard with mountain views that change beautifully with each season. April sees the most wedding inquiries in New York, showing just how many couples are drawn to the region during spring's beautiful blooming season.

What's the Reality of Wedding Costs in New York?

Expect to pay more for your New York wedding than the national average of $6,500-$12,000 for venues alone. New York venues typically cost around $16,709 which makes up about 22% of your total wedding budget. Your overall costs will vary based on how many guests you're hosting: Guest Count Total Wedding Budget 50 guests (small wedding) $32,316 100 guests $54,844 150 guests $76,011 200 guests $94,911 250 guests $113,810 300 guests (large wedding) $132,709 Your other major expenses will include catering at $13,367 (18%), bar services running $10,694 (14%), florals at $8,177 (11%), planners costing $6,044 (8%), photography at $5,119 (7%), videography at $4,622 (6%), entertainment at $2,298 (3%), cake and desserts at $1,067 (1%), and hair and makeup averaging $550 (1%).

How Do NYC Wedding Venues Compare to Upstate Locations?

NYC venues offer you urban sophistication with distinctive skyline views. At Tribeca Rooftop + 360° you'll enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Manhattan panoramas while The Plaza presents opulent ballrooms featuring chandeliers ornate molding and gold accents. The 620 Loft & Garden gives you a stunning rooftop terrace overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral and Fifth Avenue. Upstate venues surround you with natural beauty and historic architecture. City Winery Hudson Valley welcomes you to a renovated factory featuring vaulted ceilings stone walls and vineyard views. You can host up to 350 guests here and customize your outdoor ceremony areas to create exactly the atmosphere you're dreaming of.

Which New York Venues Offer Outstanding Culinary Experiences?

You can treat your guests to Two Michelin star cuisine at Manhatta perched 60 floors high in the Financial District where Executive Chef Justin Bogle creates memorable dishes like hamachi and black truffle dumplings. The River Cafe in Brooklyn serves Michelin-starred cuisine featuring Hudson Valley foie gras and Nantucket Bay scallops with Brooklyn Bridge views right outside your window. For a farm-to-table experience Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester County offers cuisine sourced directly from their on-site farm with their HayLoft space accommodating anywhere from 40 to 260 guests.

Where Can You Find Accessible Wedding Venues in New York?

For couples prioritizing accessibility 620 Loft & Garden offers customizable settings that can work with various needs though you'll want to confirm specific features during your planning. Prospect Park Boathouse and Central Park Conservatory Garden provide accessible options with proper pathways for all your guests. Always ask about specific accommodations like wheelchair ramps elevators and accessible restrooms when you're researching potential venues to ensure everyone can fully participate in your celebration.

How Can Guests Participate Remotely at New York Weddings?

Historic Manhattan venues can make remote guests feel included by incorporating virtual tours during ceremony breaks while Midtown Loft & Terrace supports interactive platforms that go beyond simple passive streaming. You might consider venues in Chelsea or SoHo that can enhance those famous skyline views with live streaming that includes interactive elements like virtual photobooths live chats or virtual toasts. These features help create genuine engagement for participants joining your special day from afar.

“We recently held our daughters wedding in the NY Catskills, during the 2025 Fall Foliage season. Our daughter created a cohesive vision that would be embedded throughout all of the wedding events (Rehearsal Dinner; Welcome Party; Wedding Day Ceremony & Reception; After Party and finally the Farewell Brunch). Her goal was to strike that unique vibe and ensure that every guest walked away from the weekend with a long lasting memory that differentiated the experience from most traditional weddings. Coordinating a wedding in the Catskills takes a lot of planning and coordination to deliver that unique experience for guests traveling from all over the country, especially when the attention for detail is a priority. One of the best decisions we made, was to choose French Woods Farmhouse, to be the venue to start & end our wedding weekend. French Woods Farmhouse was the venue for our Welcome Party as well as for our Farewell Brunch. The Welcome Party & Farewell Brunch at French Woods Farmhouse, exceeded our expectations in kicking off the wedding weekend & wrapping it up. The property & layout was so conducive for our Welcome Party & Farewell Brunch goals, in getting our guests quickly immersed into a Catskills Wedding vibe. Some of the featured highlights included: - Full Cocktail Bar - Live Music - Curated Catered Food with Service - Random Gathering Spots for Mingling, Eating & Drinking (including tables, seating, as well as space within their newly renovated barn) - Spontaneous Lighting Elements (on driveway, pond, trees) - Continuous Video Clips, projected on to the side of the barn - Massive Fire Pits for chilling & watching the stars (this was a HUGE hit) And all showcased on a meticulously manicured property that provided our guests with epic views of clear skies, rolling hills, foliage changing landscapes & ponds, all in a secluded space from the rest of the world! All of this would not be possible without the continuous orchestration with the owners of French Woods Farmhouse (Bruce & Denise). Throughout the entire planning process, they were in constant contact with us, as well as coordinating several visits to fine tune all of the details including reviewing various property visuals, layouts & configurations. (They literally created backup layouts as well, in the event of bad weather) They also are well connected in the area, in terms of services, rentals & activities, so when it came time to finalize the many details, they made it SO easy & frictionless. It was incredibly helpful to have their help in coordinating various aspects (eg., rentals, catering, servers, restroom trailers, cleanup crews, parking). While we leveraged French Woods Farmhouse for the Welcome Party & Farewell Brunch, in hindsight we should have also considered the Rehearsal Dinner and After Party events at this venue as well! The space is very dynamic to setup differently for each event scenario. FYI… We also happen to rent the main house for 8 of us to stay for the entire weekend. The attention to detail shown throughout the entire property is impeccable & impressive. The house is WELL stocked with all your needs, anticipating all scenarios & questions one would encounter while staying at their gorgeous home & property. (We also loved the farmhouse décor) Overall cleanliness… the entire house was extremely clean upon stepping in on our first day. Its clear that they prioritize this, as if they were staying themselves.”

“Our wedding weekend here was nothing short of perfect, and we owe so much of that to this incredible venue and their team. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely taken care of—stress-free, smiling ear to ear, and overwhelmingly grateful for the people making it all possible. Every detail was handled with such care—from coordination and organization to thoughtful touches throughout the weekend. The setting itself is stunning—the views left our guests in awe—and the food was absolutely fantastic. Having the chance to celebrate with our loved ones over an entire weekend, instead of just a few hours, was truly priceless. Goat yoga ended up being one of the most talked-about events, and our guests are still raving about it. The staff deserves the highest praise. Brandon, Katie, John, and Shelby went above and beyond to make us and our families feel welcome and supported. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made the entire experience seamless. Their list of trusted vendors also made planning so much easier, and we truly couldn’t have imagined a better fit for our celebration. Their help through the planning process was instrumental in planning a wedding weekend in just 5 months!! “Melanie, the Stonewall Estate team, and the venue itself were an absolute DREAM. We first toured Stonewall in the middle of January, and even covered in snow, we immediately knew there was something special about this place. Coming back to get married in peak fall foliage on 9/26 was exactly how we had pictured it. We were the first of our friend group to get married, so we didn’t have much precedent for how any of this was supposed to work. From the beginning, Melanie made the entire process feel seamless. She was incredibly communicative and gave us so much guidance along the way, from vendor and local recommendations to all the little pro tips you don’t even know you need. We trusted her taste and point of view 100%, and whenever we needed advice, she was the first person we wanted to ask. Throughout planning, she kept us on track, led an incredibly helpful 45-day walkthrough, helped build out our timeline, lineup and floor plan, and made sure all of our vendors had everything they needed heading into the weekend. Stonewall also has an amazing decor catalog with so much already available on-site, which made bringing our vision together so easy. When the weekend arrived, Melanie led our rehearsal beautifully, and she and her team were such a calm, supportive presence throughout the wedding day. If there were any issues happening behind the scenes, we certainly didn’t know about them because her team was always one step ahead. We had to make the call to move our ceremony indoors because of possible rain, and they made it PERFECT. We genuinely would not have changed a thing. They then completely transformed the space for the reception, to the point that guests told us they didn’t even realize they were sitting in the same room! And the property itself... let me tell you there truly wasn’t a bad view anywhere. Our guests could not stop talking about the scenery and how beautiful and unique the venue was. Having the estate house and cottage, barn, ceremony, reception and bonfire all on one property made the whole experience so special. Our wedding party could get ready on-site, celebrate all night, and simply walk back up the hill to the house afterward. Every detail was so thoughtfully handled, from the beautiful barn and venue-owned bar to the s’mores bonfire at the end of the night. The Stonewall bartenders were also SO kind and wonderful to our guests, and we heard so many compliments about them throughout the night. We have gotten multiple messages from guests telling us this was the best wedding they have ever been to, and it never could have reached the level it did without Melanie and the Stonewall Estate team. They truly have something magical going on up there, and we feel so lucky we got to have our wedding at Stonewall. If you’re dreaming of the perfect mountainscape wedding, this is your spot. A all around!!! XOXO, Lauren & Elijah”

“Stoney Creek Castle is an absolutely charming and breathtaking venue. The owners are so helpful and considerate. The setting is gorgeous with the creek in the back, and the whole setup is extremely unique. The venue provides a photobooth and a telephone to leave voice messages for the couple (all you need is to provide the SD card). My husband and I loved listening to the voice messages afterward. Additionally, the bathroom has more than enough room to accommodate a massive wedding gown, which is great. Could not be happier with the venue or the owners. They are so sweet and wholesome and provided fantastic service, before, during, and after our wedding.”
