About this venue

The Edison Downtown is a brand new wedding and event venue in downtown Schenectady and established in 2021. The venue is exclusively catered and owned by Seasons Catering where they are excited to begin hosting events. This venue holds the history from when Thomas Edison came to Schenectady to start up Edison Machine Works and when he combined it into the Edison General Electric company in 1889. After - the building transformed into the Schenectady Gazette headquarters. In our renovations - we have kept the history and charm of the building with the original printing press from 1894 and our exposed brick interior.

    It’s taken my now husband, Matthew, and me a little while to write this review for The Edison Downtown—and honestly, it’s because we’ve been so overwhelmed with emotion in the best possible way. Since our wedding day, we’ve found ourselves tearing up daily, reminiscing about what was truly the most perfect day of our lives. It’s hard to find the words to describe just how magical it was, and it’s all thanks to The Edison Downtown, Belinda, Jemma, Dom, and the entire incredible team. We were married on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, after two years of planning and dreaming. We first booked The Edison Downtown in June of 2023, and since then, Belinda and her team have become such a meaningful part of our journey. While we currently live in South Florida, we are originally from Syracuse and Long Island, so we were looking for a location that would bring both of our families together in the middle. Planning a wedding from across the country—especially in a city that wasn’t “home” to either of our families—was no small feat. But from the very beginning, the staff at The Edison made everything so much easier, more enjoyable, and genuinely exciting. Belinda and her team went above and beyond by providing trusted vendor recommendations and even helping us find vendors who matched our budget. Their support never wavered and truly made all the difference in planning from afar. As the big day approached, The Edison graciously allowed us early access to the venue to set up—such a stress reliever! On the day itself, Jemma and Dom served as our main coordinators, and they were nothing short of phenomenal. Their care, attention, and calm energy allowed us to stay fully present and soak in every single moment. Belinda, the heart of The Edison, was also with us throughout the day, making sure everything went off without a hitch. Her presence and kindness were felt by not just us, but our families too. Now let’s talk about the food—wow! We still can’t stop thinking about it. From the cocktail hour to the plated dinner, everything was absolutely delicious. Hands down, some of the best food we’ve ever had! Our guests are still talking about how incredible it was, from the appetizers to the desserts—and yes, the surprises Belinda had in store for us were unforgettable! The beauty of the venue, the warmth of the staff, the attention to detail, and the overwhelming love we felt that day… it was all beyond our expectations. If you’re even thinking about booking The Edison Downtown for your wedding—DO IT. We promise, you won’t regret it. It will be one of the best decisions you make. Belinda, Jemma, Dom, and the entire Edison Downtown team—thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. We’ll never forget what you helped create, and we hope to see you all again at the next Grand Tasting!

    There are truly no words that can fully express the joy and gratitude my wife and I felt throughout the process of helping our daughter and her now husband plan their wedding at The Edison Downtown. From our very first tasting to the final dance of the evening, every detail exceeded our expectations. The communication, the décor, and the flawless execution of the entire event were nothing short of exceptional. Belinda, Jemma, Dom, and the entire team were absolutely incredible. Their attentiveness to not only the bride and groom, but to us as well, made the experience even more special. We felt supported and cared for every step of the way. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were evident in every interaction. And the food—where do we begin? Calling it five-star doesn’t even do it justice. From the cocktail hour to the reception, every dish was perfection. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it. There wasn’t a single complaint—only compliments and empty plates. The desserts were equally spectacular, offering a wide variety of choices that had everyone going back for seconds (and thirds!). The venue itself is stunning. From the grandeur of the chandeliers to the seamless transitions between the Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, and Reception spaces, everything was thoughtfully designed to keep the energy flowing and the guests engaged. At no point did anyone feel like they were waiting around—everything moved flawlessly from one moment to the next. To Belinda and the entire Edison Downtown team: thank you. Thank you for your dedication, your creativity, and your unwavering commitment to making this day unforgettable. If we had to offer one tiny critique, it’s simply that the night went by far too quickly—it was so perfect, we never wanted it to end.

    Weddings can be incredibly stressful and sometimes not go as you planned, but I can guarantee The Edison Downtown staff will make your special day the best wedding or event you’ve ever had. Jena, our wedding coordinator and Bylinda, the owner, truly went above and beyond any of my expectations for my wedding day. The attention to care to not only myself but all family members and party members was impeccable. The organization and leadership day of from Jena highly attributes to the perfection and smoothness of our wedding. She was there late the night before and there bright and early the day of to make sure everything we wanted was done correctly and done timely. She made sure to keep to our schedule and even if there were any bumps in our timeline, she handed it for us. She paid incredible attention to detail to both our wedding and after party, as we had a completely different themed event also at the venue slightly after our wedding ended. I’m sure this made it more difficult than usual for the staff, but Jena handled the organization of all of our decor and organization of the staff and people involved like a seasoned professional. The food from Season’s Catering was divine and some of the best food we can recall having at a wedding or other event in a very, very long time. Our guests cannot stop talking about how absolutely delicious all of the food was, how gorgeous and unique the venue was, and how it was one of the best weddings they have attended. From the bartender to the servers, everyone was so sweet and seemed so excited to be working our wedding day. I didn’t know exactly what to expect planning my first wedding, but was so thankful for having Bylinda and having Jena from the venue to handle everything. Any event at The Edison Downtown is worth every penny. We cannot thank everyone enough for all of the effort they put into our special day.

    Food allergy guests beware!!!! After multiple emails and meetings about my wedding and in person discussions regarding my severe food allergies the owner brought me a charcuterie board COVERED in sesame crackers to the bridal suite (which I am severely allergic to) She then proceeded to take the crackers off the tray when I reminded her I was allergic. I then had to remind her what cross contamination was and that the whole charcuterie board had to go. Then the few of my guests who had gluten allergies received their meals with gravy (containing gluten) all over their plates, even though I was required to put each guests food order and allergy on their name card. When they confronted the manager about the issue with their plate they were told “don’t worry there’s no dairy” basically confirming to the guests they had no clue what gluten meant leaving the guests so uneasy they refused to eat their meal out of fear of an allergic reaction. Gorgeous venue but NOT reliable from a food stand point in regard to food allergies.
