Situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Carey, this unique venue has been meticulously restored, combining historic charm with modern amenities. From the spacious interior to the outdoor gazebo and patio, Old Carter Barn provides a captivating backdrop for unforgettable celebrations. Our packages feature a lot of amazing inclusions to help make your wedding planning as easy as possible- from event planning, day of coordination, 8 seat "model T" shuttle, ice, event insurance, table linens in your color choice, set-up help and clean-up, your own wedding website with RSVP. At Old Carter Barn, we work with each couple to make their wedding as unique as they are!

    Beautiful Venue, Terrible Service!

    Terrible communication and follow-through. We were told on multiple occasions that we were not added to the calendar. Staff didn't show as promised. Services promised and purchased were not delivered. No attempt to make it right. Although the grounds themselves are beautiful, plan on having backups for anything they've promised to do or help with, and not to be able to use the pitched "extras" that are included.

    We are genuinely sorry that you came away disappointed with your experience and that you felt communication leading up to your wedding did not meet your expectations. However, we do need to respectfully disagree with the characterization that services promised or paid for were not provided. Venue management was present throughout your wedding day, the venue was fully prepared for your event, and the services and amenities included in your wedding package were provided as agreed. We take great pride in the experience we provide our couples and are disappointed that, despite our efforts, you feel so differently about your wedding with us. We wish you both the very best.

    Lewis, Dave, and the rest team at Old Carter Barn were absolutely wonderful! They guided us through the rehearsal with such care and attention, ensuring every detail was perfect and the day ran smoothly. The entire venue was impeccably clean, especially the spacious bridal suites, which were perfect for getting ready comfortably! We also loved the wide selection of decor they offered, making it easy to personalize our special day beautifully. Overall, an exceptional experience from start to finish!

Yes, We are open May- early November.
Yes- you must bring your own alcohol.
We have a lot of inclusions to make it as easy for our couple as possible (event management, planning, ice, event insurance, linens, sound system, set-up and clean-up help, decorations and more). We don't include catering or bartending but can help arrange that.
Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We also have ramps at the main and side entrances, hearing-impaired fire alarm lights, and trained staff.
Yes, we have plenty of parking available in the field above the barn.
For a Saturday wedding with Friday set-up (or Friday wedding with Thursday set-up) we all 12-8pm on set-up and 8am-11pm on the "day of". A single day Sunday wedding is 8am-11pm. The ceremony and reception is limited to a 6 hour block- usually 4pm-10pm. The bar and music ends at 10pm. We allow pick-up of personal items the next morning.
No, our venue is fully insured and we will provide event insurance in your name as part of our package.
