“From the first call we had with Ashley, we knew she would be a perfect fit as our photographer. Her personality was so warm and welcoming and her passion for the work that she does, capturing your most precious moments, is evident from the moment you begin to speak with her.
My husband and I were excited but slightly nervous about engagement and wedding photos - I consider myself not particularly photogenic, and my husband tends to avoid having his picture taken on most occasions. We were also skeptical, as a couple that isn’t fond of huge, flowery shows of affection that photos could capture our love for one another.
As soon as we met Ashley during our engagement shoot, she immediately put us at ease and made us feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera. She used the story of our engagement and our ideas about where to have photos taken and ran with it. She was able to create beautiful images that felt like equal parts a snapshot of our love story, and love letter to the city and campus where we found each other - even braving a bit of Pittsburgh rain to do so.
She brought the same talent and warm presence to our wedding day. She struck an impressive balance between posing us with easy prompts for formal portraits and being in the right place to document the magical little details we couldn’t have anticipated. It never felt like she was intruding or forcing any moments or photos for the sake of them. Instead, it felt like she was an incredibly talented friend with a couple cameras who happened to show up in just the right moments to capture snippets of the day and night. Ashley also recommended bringing in a second shooter, Nellie, who was incredibly talented and warm in her own right. Together, they brought the most warm and uplifting presence to our day, and were able to capture our love for each other in a way that felt authentic to us.
After the day was over, Ashley sent us around 200 previews two days later (!!!) and sent our full gallery one month later to the day.
The photos Ashley takes have a way of capturing not only the image in a particular moment, but the feeling associated with it. The photos themselves are beautiful not necessarily because everyone is smiling perfectly and catching a perfect angle (even though many of her photos do capture that), but because they capture the beauty of people being their most authentic selves - and for the photos she takes of you, they help you see the yourself like the people who love you most in the world see you. We count ourselves so so lucky that we found a photographer that is as incredible a person as she is a talent.
