Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

While exploring other countries and cultures, I was using my phone to document the people that I met and the places that I have been. Photography has always been in the family; my mum has always been fascinated by pictures and she ensured she had a camera (small ones) as often as possible. My professional journey, however, started over 4 years ago. I started by photographing my wife for her blog, next, the kiddos, and then moved on to events, weddings, and studio photography. Hi, I’m Yelitza (Je-lit-sa ... don't worry! I got you). I’m a photographer, wife, nurse, fur-mom of three, new avid hiker, and a pretty darn good baker; and I’m here (dramatic pause) to tell your story. I found photography my freshman year of high school (I needed some credits in a pinch and this was it), three days in class and I was in love. Fast forward a few year (hey! hey! not too many years... Watch it! lol) and I'm still just as in love as that third day.

In 2003 I began my career in photography with the Maryland Film Office in Baltimore and photographed my first wedding in 2004 with my sister-in-law. I was in love! In 2007 I decided to go full time with wedding photography. I moved out west to apprentice with veteran wedding photographers in Las Vegas and Los Angeles to master studio lighting and posing techniques. I began working full time as a wedding photographer in Annapolis under my own company in 2009. Since then, I have met hundreds of amazing couples. When I'm not photographing a wedding, you can most likely find me on a mountain or the Chesapeake Bay with my family...camera in hand.

From a young age, I've had a vivid imagination and a love for storytelling. I would capture everything I saw in my mind, using those images as the backdrop for my stories. This passion eventually led me to pursue a degree in Film and Photography. After graduating, I spent a few years as a volunteer missionary, traveling across the country. These travels allowed me to broaden my photography and filmmaking skills by experiencing and capturing diverse parts of the world. During this time, I also began photographing weddings and portraits, quickly falling in love with this aspect of my work and continuing to shoot ever since.
