Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers
Rating: 4.9 (99 reviews)
  • Starts at $350

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Our flowers turned out AMAZING with flower moxie! It was so fun to be able to spend the days before prepping the flowers with my family and friends, and they truly turned out so beautifully. The granddaughter of two gardeners, I have always felt a connection to the earth through the soil. When someone brings flowers into a room, something changes...an energy, an excitement! I love being able to bring that kind of beauty into peoples lives. I'm a small-town girl who enjoys anything that involves working with my hands from cooking to knitting. I'm a total animal lover (partial to dogs), a die-hard Grey's Anatomy fan, and I take my martinis extra dirty. When I'm not flowering in our studio in Milford, Connecticut, I'm mommin' to three amazing little boys (our dog Pippa and cat, Galaxy).

When I first saw my wedding bouquet I was speechless! It was nothing like any other bouquet I had seen in the absolute best way! The flowers were gorgeous, vibrant, and truly unique, just like I wanted! Kate has such a keen ability to take inspiration photos, run with them, and create something incredibly gorgeous and in line with my vision. The florals she designed brought a lovely pop of color to our reception and pulled the natural look from the landscape into the space exactly like I envisioned. From little details like "snap-bracelet" corsages for the moms to a color-coordinating ribbon on the boutonnieres, Kate totally knocked it out of the park!

First of all - the end product was just beautiful. Everything from the bridal bouquet to the ceremony flowers to the table styling was exquisite and super unique. Shannon did a great job incorporating my favorite color (yellow) and a whimsical, organic wildness into the design exactly as I had hoped. From our first meeting to the written proposal, Shannon interpreted my thoughts and ideas exactly. I was so impressed that she took my ramblings and half ideas and pulled them together into what I was seeing in my head. Shannon’s GORGEOUS color palette informed the entire wedding design and gave me a jumping off point for invitations, bridesmaid dresses, other decor, etc. Unfortunately, the process of working with Shannon was a bit challenging. She struggled with nailing down details: incorrect number of tables, inconsistent accounting of candles/bud vases, etc. It took a number of incorrect proposal drafts until we got it right - just weeks before the wedding. We were honestly quite disappointed by Shannon’s flexibility and communication. She self-describes as being highly collaborative, but that was not our experience. First, as beer nerds, having hops in the design was super important to us, and while she flagged early on it could be an issue to source real ones, we discussed using fake. While we all agreed that she shouldn’t use fake hops if they looked bad, we were sad to see on the day of that they didn’t make it into the design. It would have been nice to have heard a heads up from her that she didn’t plan to use them - even if it was just a brief mention on the day-of. Second, when our cake plans fell through at the last minute, we asked Shannon if she could possibly supply a few flowers for our small 6” cutting cake. She told us she would try, but later we heard from the bakery that she had given them a flat no. She never communicated her decision to us. Thankfully, the bakery pulled something together for us (shout out to Zest Pastry!). Third, the Monday before the wedding, Shannon sent an alarming email with the subject line “Head Advisory, Oh No!”, asking us what our plan was. Getting any email titled “Oh No” isn’t fun to receive less than a week before your wedding. Further, as a trusted wedding vendor, we would hope that she would have plans for weather or unexpected events rather than looking to us during a very stressful period. Lastly, (and most disappointingly) despite having a run of day schedule, Shannon was nowhere to be found when it was time to put on boutonnieres and corsages. Our photographers and party thankfully jumped in to help to avoid major delays to portraits (shout out to Katie Slater!). Fundamentally, the product Shannon provided was beyond compare - everything was beautiful. That said, the communication, coordination, and organization were lacking from our experience.

Choosing Eliza and her team at Boom and Bloom was one of the single best decisions we made for our wedding. Florals play such a defining role in shaping an aesthetic, transforming a simple concept into a breathtaking reality, and from the moment we had our first call with Eliza I knew there was no other option. Her warmth, creative vision, and genuine enthusiasm made the entire experience an absolute pleasure. Throughout the planning process, Eliza went above and beyond to ensure every detail aligned with our vision. She thoughtfully created, and then refined, our mood board several times, already going above and beyond, checking in with me regularly and making adjustments with incredible care. One of the most meaningful touches was her designing special arrangements to honor both of my grandmothers on our memorial table. That level of sensitivity and intention truly set her apart. Every floral element from the aisle arrangements and ceremony arch to the centerpieces was executed flawlessly. Eliza didn’t just provide florals; she curated an entire aesthetic. She styled our table scapes and incorporated candles and uplighting that matched our dark and moody, romantic vibe to perfection. The results were nothing short of stunning. On the wedding day, Boom and Bloom handled everything seamlessly, from setup to take-down, with the added care of using sustainably sourced and recycled greenery and florals. The overall atmosphere was more beautiful than we ever could have imagined, and it’s all thanks to Eliza’s artistry, professionalism, and heart. They look and feel like "regular" flowers, but they'll last forever and have so far held up perfectly! We're gifting a number of our pieces to our mothers and grandmothers as keepsakes from our amazing day, while saving the rest to display around our house! We're so happy to have such beautiful mementoes to remember it by!

Isabelle is so incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and patient; a true artist with their flowers :') I emailed Isabelle to ask about DIY floral arrangements for our June 2025 wedding. We had such a fun time thinking up ways to engage my partner and I's family and friends, and Isabelle came up with the idea for a flower arranging party in their beautiful shop. The day before our wedding, we had our family try their hand at floral design. They had so many questions (ie, "Am I doing this right?" "What kind of flower is THIS?!"), and Isabelle greeted them all with understanding and care. AND there was handmade herbal tea and strong air conditioning on a 95-degree day. It was an experience I will never forget; thank you, Isabelle & the folks who make Fairy Meadow Flowers so special! :') Photo credit: Ken Yotsukura (& family/friends)

My business started with decoration my own wedding 5 years ago. Since then I decorated numerous event both in US and Europe. I'm focused on creating modern natural arrangements using a sustainable approach. We are completely foam free, use as many local flowers as possible and constantly looking for more sustainable practices we can bring into our business.

We were so lucky to have someone recommend Lilysh to us for our wedding florals in the Catskills. Although I had a vision for what I wanted the flowers to look like, I am certainly not a flower connoisseur, so wanted to find a professional who I could trust to understand and execute my vision and Liliya was the perfect person to do just that. Her timing and communications were perfect, Including plenty of mockups and vision boards during our preliminary meetings, and continued conversations leading up to the big day. Plus - I love that she works with in season/local blooms, in addition to other sustainability efforts. Photo Credit: The Lovewigs

  • Starts at $4,200

Rune & Rose Floral Designs is a sustainability focused design team with a unique and elevated style inspired by our connection to others, movement and nature. Rune & Rose Floral Designs prioritizes sustainability & community by sourcing blooms from local farmers during the New England growing season. This helps ensure fellow local farmers are being supported. Owners Emily and Dalton also work closely with a local family owned flower wholesaler to ensure their design choices are never limited.

Working with Emily as the florist for our wedding was absolutely amazing. She was so personable and really made our vision come to life. Emily took the time to really understand our vision, make a PowerPoint, and gather as much information about the florals we were envisioning for our big day. Emily created the most beautiful centerpieces, arch decor, aisle markers, bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and other arrangements for our wedding. She was always available to communicate with and beyond flexible with us when we wanted to add on additional florals. We cannot recommend Emily enough for anyone looking for a florist. Thank you Emily for being apart of our special day!
