“"We had our ceremony and reception at The Ardmore Music Hall July 2017 and would choose it all over again! Our guests rave to us still that it was the coolest and best wedding they have ever attended. We are owners of a party band that perform at reception venues all over the tri-state area and we chose AMH because we wanted to marry on stage in a fun, relaxed, and unique environment. The staff could not have been more service-oriented from preplanning meetings up to and including servicing the guests. We have many compliments for the manager Sara for allowing us to decorate as we wanted, making "themed cocktail drinks", coordinating the rest of the very friendly staff and for going above and beyond etc.. We had many bands play throughout the evening and all of the musicians were impressed with the sound crew at AMH, they were absolutely perfectionists with the sound and lighting! Most compliments that we received were that it was such a warm, cool vibe, filled with love throughout the event....exactly what we hoped for. "”

“Choosing Appleford for our wedding was hands down one of the best choices we made in wedding planning. From the first tour Lisa made the experience as easy and stress free as possible. Their recommended vendors and partnered caters were great, and the open houses they held made selection smooth and gave us peace of mind knowing we were making informed decisions. One reason we loved Appleford was knowing they had a good rain plan - unfortunately, we did have to use this rain plan for some of our day so we were so incredibly grateful that the inside of the estate was stunning and ready for indoor use when the time came. The onsite coordinator was helpful in every respect and helped with everything including wardrobe malfunctions for the mother of the bride (helping to sew her dress when it was needed)! Our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was which was obvious from the moment you step on the property. We cannot recommend Appleford enough and are so incredibly grateful that we chose them for our wedding day!”

“Stunning venue - the display garden is truly a one in a million place to get married. We initially planned to have our cocktail hour outdoors as we wanted to highlight the reflecting pool but unfortunately the weather didn’t permit - we had cocktail hour inside and it was still incredible. The whole team there was impressive and the food was truly delicious. My standards for wedding food are pretty low but it was excellent, and many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had (and they’d eat it again if they could). The whole team was lovely to work with. So, so glad we got married here!!”

Blondie (Valerie especially!) could not have been more accommodating and they were the perfect venue for the smaller, party atmosphere wedding we were going for! Colin and the rest of the service team were top notch! Run, don’t walk to book your event with them because they’ll start being overbooked soon enough!!”

“From the moment we walked through the doors of The Drexelbrook, we knew our daughter’s wedding was in the very best hands. What unfolded on her wedding day was nothing short of extraordinary; an experience filled with elegance, warmth, and absolute perfection. The staff was truly amazing! They were attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making the day flawless. The food was incredible, exceeding every expectation, and the convenience of having the venue, hotel, and after-party all in one location was such a gift to our guests. The attached bar and restaurant allowed family and friends to arrive early and comfortably socialize before the celebration began, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere from the start. The outdoor setting provided stunning photo opportunities that we will treasure forever. Every single staff member went above and beyond, but we are especially grateful to Hannah, Kim, and Dom Savino. From our very first meeting through the wedding day itself, they were exceptional. There truly are not enough words to thank them for their guidance, kindness, and attention to every detail. Everything was handled with such care and excellence. It was nothing but the best! We are so very thankful to The Drexelbrook for making our daughter’s wedding day absolutely magical. It fulfilled her dream of a perfect wedding, and for that, we will be forever grateful. “My partner and I had the best experience working with Deyna Hamilton from Manayunk Brewing for our wedding reception! From the moment we booked the space a year prior, Deyna was so hands-on with us and helped with everything along the way. Every time we met, she kept us on track and helped us organize our to-do list and was such a pleasure to work with. She clearly has a ton of experience with planning and organizing events, and on the day-of, Deyna made sure we had the most carefree and fun time! The cocktail hour & reception space were perfect for my husband and I. We hosted about 80 people, so everybody had a lot of room to mingle and have drinks and dance. We chose to do stations for dinner, and they were a hit! Everybody told us how much they enjoyed the food during the cocktail hour and reception. The chef at Manayunk is very good! Deyna helped us choose all of the food in the months leading up to our reception which was also a load off our minds! We had a great time utilizing the bridal suite in the hours before our reception - it was a great space to have drinks and snacks with our family, put together some of our decor, and get ready. Deyna and the other staffers helped us tremendously by putting together the reception & cocktail hour space with all of our decorations, flowers, and photos. Deyna provided recommendations for vendors, so it was easy to choose a DJ (John Cicala from Silver Sounds) who already knew the venue! We can’t recommend Manayunk and Deyna enough. They were so wonderful to us! Thank you for everything!”

“My partner and I fell in love with Pentridge Station almost right away as customers — the friendly staff, the chill/homey vibe, and the welcoming atmosphere all helped us to feel a sense of community and belonging in a city that was new to us. When we finally decided to throw a wedding celebration after 2 years of being married (specifically a cook-out vibe, easy breezy celebration) it was a no brainer to reach out to Pentridge. That being said, it’s a pretty versatile space and can be dressed up or down depending on the kind of wedding you’re going for. We coordinated directly with the owners, Jocelyn and Ephream, who were both very thoughtful, sweet, and gracious throughout the entire process. Their flexible event rental options, list of recommended food vendors, and local DJs really helped to make us feel supported in our planning. Their bartending staff was attentive and wonderful. All of our guests - a mix of family from North Jersey, Maryland, and New York - were so impressed with the venue. For almost all of them it was their first time visiting us in West Philly, and having Pentridge Station be their introduction to the neighborhood and our life in Philadelphia felt incredibly special. We would highly recommend considering Pentridge if you’re looking to celebrate your love in a fun, community-driven space with TONS of heart and personality. You’d be hard pressed to find a better customer service experience anywhere else!”

  • Designed for grand celebrations

Venue considerations

  • Best for events with big guest lists
  • Couple must handle cleanup and setup
  • Additional event staff required
“When I set out to plan our wedding, there were two things my husband and I knew we absolutely needed: a venue that had “character” all on its own, and food that was “top-notch” while still being allergy-friendly. So, I logged onto Facebook and started joining every bridal group I could find. I was looking for something VERY SPECIFIC, a gem, a place that had everything I was envisioning. Honestly, I didn’t think it existed. And then came The Ivy at Ellis Preserve by Finley Catering. What I thought didn’t exist suddenly became a reality. My husband and I visited The Ivy just one month after it opened, and we instantly fell in love. That was it. The search was over. Just as quickly as we fell in love with each other, we fell in love with the venue. From start to finish, Meg was responsive, caring, attentive, and professional. She understood that my husband and I have serious food allergies and never made us feel like our needs were an inconvenience or an afterthought. Meg, our event coordinator, and her husband, Mike, our maître d, went above and beyond to make our wedding day incredibly special. Most people say their wedding day “flashed before their eyes,” but for me, that was never the case. Every moment felt like my husband and I were spinning together inside a snow globe, dancing while the entire world settled around us. And I truly believe that feeling was possible because of how well the entire team took care of us. The staff were INCREDIBLE. Every single person we encountered was kind, helpful, attentive, and professional. It’s been just shy of three weeks since our wedding, and our guests are STILL raving about the cocktail hour and dinner. MANY of them have told us it was, by far, the best cocktail hour they have ever experienced. And the best part? We didn’t even select any of the food upgrades! But what meant the most to my husband and me was that we didn’t just have to hear about how amazing the food was from our guests; we got to experience it ourselves. Meg and Mike took our allergies seriously and went above and beyond to make modifications so we could safely enjoy our wedding meal alongside everyone else. They made us feel like our allergies didn’t make us “different.” We were able to sit down, eat, celebrate, and enjoy our reception just like every other couple. That meant EVERYTHING to us. I cannot stop raving about Finley Catering and their newest venue, The Ivy at Ellis Preserve and clearly, neither can our guests! Throughout the entire planning process, I talked endlessly about how beautiful the venue is. It is SO elegant and beautiful on its own that it truly doesn’t need much. In fact, I DIY’d about 95% of my wedding, and I would tell every future couple the same thing: you don’t have to go all out. Keep it simple. Let the architecture, character, and elegance of The Ivy speak for you. The “bones” of this venue are absolutely beautiful, and they create the perfect canvas for whatever vision you have. Meg and Mike, thank you SOOOOO much for everything you did for us. Thank you for listening, caring, accommodating, anticipating our needs, and making us feel so incredibly special from the moment we walked through The Ivy’s doors to the moment our wedding day ended. We will forever be grateful that we found our “gem” and that we got to celebrate the beginning of our marriage there. ️ The Ivy at Ellis Preserve will always hold such a special place in our hearts.”

“Our wedding spanned five different exhibits/areas of the Penn Museum -- from a procession in the Stoner Courtyard to the ceremony in Pepper Hall, to cocktail hour in the Lower Level Egypt exhibit (where the Sphinx used to be), to dinner in the Chinese Rotunda, and finally dancing in the Upper Level Egypt exhibit. Being surrounded by the galleries in a beautiful venue made for a unique and unforgettable event! Everything went smoothly thanks to the thoughtfulness and attentiveness of Atiya German and Michelle Bach (CxRA). They helped us accomplish our vision for our wedding, and were accommodating to our special needs for food, decor, a few young children in attendance, clothing changes, an unexpected light rain on the wedding day, and even a horse at the procession! Prices were very reasonable, especially when compared to other similar venues in Philly, and we were only ever charged for what we used. I highly recommend Penn Museum and working with Atiya in particular.”

“This place is really the spot for a once in a lifetime dark romantic wedding. First of all, the venue really speaks for itself. The spaces, from the garden to the ballrooms are so beautiful, it doesn't really require a lot of dressing up. Also, when you go with the College of Physicians, you get a full buyout. The whole place is yours, including museum access, which was super important to us. The in house caterer, Catering By Design also makes the whole process a turn key solution. They have the tables, linens, silverware, plates, and a super team. No need to source everything from a million vendors. Despite the fact that they are the exclusive caterer, CBD does not take your experience for granted. They put a ton of care into bringing your vision to life, the food is truly superb, and was a consistent hit with our friends and family. A few things we feel should mention. The museum does have some form of plans for renovations and expansion. We recommend checking with the current status of their plans before committing 100%. We also found that those plans can shift slightly, and for us it was beneficial to be flexible on things like the grooms suite and our first look location. With that being said, we would absolutely have our wedding here again. The rates were extremely reasonable for what you get, and for us it was so unique and memorable. We want to give a special shout out to our contact at CBD Ginger, and Carolyn who handled florals. Thank you guys for making our wedding the best night of our lives.”

“We love the FI, my husband and I both have amazing childhood memories running around their exhibits. As a wedding venue it was even more amazing! Pepper Hall with candlelit mood and florals added was like a soft classic library from a fairytale, our ceremony in that room felt magical. Our guests loved running through the exhibits during our happy hour, the little ones invited were playing in there most of the night. Last but not least our Franklin Hall reception was breathtaking and so much fun! Tara and the FI team made communication and planning a breeze. Tara especially was the greatest reference for any questions or worries we had. She was positive, so responsive, and had solutions and advice for everything! Since I don't live close, I appreciated that the planning was done by zoom calls. The team was anxious to understand our expectations and delivered beautifully. My 2 celiac guests felt very comfortable with their food choices. My guests were continually commenting on how delicious the food was. The specialty drinks were a big hit too! The coffee bar was used quite a bit as well. Everyone on the team that I met at the event were helpful and responsive just like Nicole was from the time we started planning. We had our wedding on August 23rd so it was a hot day, and the fans you don’t even notice in the tent were so good it felt like AC! The house wasn’t hot either.
