About this venue

"Where the sky meets water." A country estate of the first order, Welkinweir is nestled into a hillside of 197 acres in the heart of Chester County. The property takes its name from the Old English translation of "where the sky meets the water." To this end, five ponds and a meandering brook are just the beginning of a true visual feast. Remnants of a 200-year-old stone barn, a springhouse, protected forests, abundant wildlife and a 55-acre arboretum paint a scene of incredible beauty and tranquility. Formal gardens and terraces surround the venerable estate house, its earliest roots traced back to the 1740s. Listed on the National Historic Register, the residence lends a time-honored backdrop for indoor/outdoor events. Welkinweir is the home of Green Valley Watershed Association, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to protect and preserve the water resources of Northern Chester County through advocacy and education. Cultivating Memories at Welkinweir Estate

The Welkinweir Estate, a scenic property bounded by 192 acres of richly wooded hills and a valley of tranquil ponds in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Welkinweir is recognized for its historic significance as a part of the Reading Furnace which manufactured iron in the early 1600s. The stone house at Welkinweir Estate is adorned with a white oak wood floor that hums as you make your way down an elegant staircase, embellished with a centuries-old banister. The home is comprised of quaint family rooms with stately fireplaces that look out onto a field of lush emerald green grass. Your nose will lead you through a winding path brimming with the vibrant hues and aromas of freshly-blooming flowers, towards a cobblestone stairway tucked beneath an intimate cluster of trees and foliage. The leaves shelter you before you enter out onto a grassy plateau overlooking a serene six-acre pond nestled in the forest. This merely begins to describe the beauty of the calm, pastoral environment of the Welkinweir Estate.

    Welkinweir Estate is the perfect venue for a wedding. From the beginning, Shelly and her team were easy to communicate with, responsive, and incredibly helpful. They answered all of our questions, no matter how small, and made sure every detail was taken care of. The space itself is gorgeous, giving us the elegant garden and estate wedding vibe we were going for. The grounds are beautifully maintained and provides a stunning backdrop for ceremony and photos. What really sold us is their sustainability and conservation initiatives. We are so grateful to Shelly and the Welkinweir team for helping us work towards making our special day truly unforgettable.
