Learn To Plan Ahead With #ZolaCouple Liane & Mark

From lobster bakes and blueberry pancakes on lazy Sundays to an engagement in Austin, TX and a potential move to Costa Rica (oh, and all the wedding planning in between), this #ZolaCouple knows what they want. Count down the 25 days to Mark & Liane’s wedding with them and get inspired by their tips and registry picks!

How did you meet? Mark and I met on July 3rd. We were at my friend’s to watch the fireworks and feast on a lobster bake, and Mark snuck a kiss in the elevator at the end of the night as he was walking me to my car. Mark would like you to know that he fell in love with me that very night and just knew he was going to make me his wife. I would like you to know that I was hesitant about this tall handsome southerner. Mark would have to work hard over the next 3 years before I’d commit.

How did you get engaged? Because I travel quite a bit for work, Mark was forced to spill the beans about the engagement week. He told me not to plan anything the first weekend of February. We went to Austin and Mark had us hiking up the beautiful hills of Mt. Bonnel. We arrived at the perfect spot, sun setting and the gorgeous Colorado river below. I come back from the restroom and Mark is on bended knee, ring in hand and 2 glasses of champagne at the ready. Simple question: will you marry me? YES!!

What was the first thing you did after you got engaged? In true ‘Type A’ fashion, I booked a photo shoot. We had our engagement pictures the next morning with Starbucks cups in tow. We were the celebrities of Starbucks that morning.

Where are you going on your honeymoon and how did you pick the destination?Costa Rica. Mark and I are both master scuba divers and absolutely love the ocean. I want to learn surfing, and Mark wants to reconnect with the sport. We both agreed on a 5 year plan to move to Costa Rica by January 1, 2020. This is our expedition to scout out the neighborhoods and enjoy the beach life. Pura Vida!

Packing tips? I’m the worst. I would have to say don’t pack last minute. Think about your outings together and what your personal brand as a couple would look like. I know Mark and I are carefree, young, and adventurous. I plan my outfits accordingly.

Any tips for balancing wedding planning with your everyday busy life? Oh boy! I’m a big cheater on this one. My mom has been absolutely the best and is handling everything. My best advice is to delegate everything. In reality, this may not be possible for everyone. I suggest locking down your venue first thing and then your dress. Everything surrounds those two big items. Also, I know it can be hard, but don’t stress. Highlight your top three focus areas and then let the rest just be.

Who’s the cook between the two of you? Mark. Hands down.

Go-to recipe for a date night in? Spaghetti squash. I’ve just about done every combination from Pinterest. Mark loves it.

What are you most excited for about newlywed life? We’re so excited about this next chapter of our lives together. I’m looking forward to lazy Sundays and blueberry pancakes in bed. Mark is most excited about anniversary gifts.

What are you most excited for on your registryI absolutely love Zola and the group gifting feature. Mark and I appreciate the group gifting for our Costa Rica honeymoon the most because we’re planning to move there within the next five years. We love that our friends and family can contribute to our future and adventures together.

A Costa Rica honeymoon fund is definitely a favorite we can get behind, but check out some of our picks from Mark & Lianes registry below, and don’t forget to check out their entire selection here.
