The Ultimate Honeymoon Packing Guide

A honeymoon is not just another vacation – it is your first trip as a newlywed couple. After all of that stressful wedding planning, it’s finally time for you to relax and enjoy time together in a beautiful place. It will be the most romantic trip of your life, so don’t rush the packing or forget the essentials.

The absolute necessities are pretty obvious ones. If you’re going abroad don’t forget your passport, or visa if you need one. Bring extra cash or traveler’s checks. Don’t forget power adapters, medications, reading materials, or a printed out copy of your itinerary. But aside from these obvious items, there are a few must-haves that might not be quite as apparent.

Your packing list can get very long, very quickly, and one thing you definitely don’t want to do is way over pack. First rule of figuring out what not to bring is to remember that this is a romantic getaway and anything that is meant to keep you plugged into the outside world you should leave at home.

Thank-You Notes
Valuables (Consider leaving your engagement ring at home!)

Once you have  your final packing list together (and yes, we advise you make a full packing list of your own), here are a few tips and tricks to help complete the packing task smoothly.

1. Use plastic bags
Plastic bags will be your best friend. Use them to put your toiletries and first-aide accessories in. Pack extras for your dirty clothes and wet swimsuits.

2. Pack early
Don’t wait until the last minute to actually start putting things in your suitcase. You want to take your time making sure you have everything, and leaving this task for just a day or two before your wedding will not end well.

3. Leave a copy of your itinerary with a friend
Leave a copy of your itinerary and contact information with a member of your family or a close friend. It sounds like a silly extra step but better to be safe than sorry. This way they will know where you are when and you won’t have to keep people updated via your phone and social media.

4. Remember the romance
This is your honeymoon. While the hotel you stay in will definitely shower you with flower petals, consider packing some scented candles or other special treats for your loved one.
