Two Foodies & A Trip To Vegas: #ZolaCouple Karissa & Michael

“They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach; in our case, the way to my heart and my whole family’s hearts was through our stomachs,” says Karissa of her romance with future husband Michael. Though they met through mutual friends in Vegas, they didn’t end up connecting until two years later. Read up on the story of this #ZolaCouple, what they do for fun & adventure, and how they stayed sane before their wedding, which was yesterday! How did you meet? We actually first met in Vegas, but we didn’t have the typical Vegas story. I was dragged along to a going away party, and the friend who was going away happened to be one of Michael’s best friends. We first met at Tryst at the Wynn, but didn’t hit it off right away. As fate would have it, Michael’s friend ended up leaving him in Las Vegas and he needed a ride home the next day. So Michael had breakfast with me and my friends and I gave him a ride home. Two years later, we reconnected at a mutual friend’s birthday party, and I gave him …

How did you meet? We met in high school during the musical ‘South Pacific.’ I played one of the lead roles of Lt. Joseph Cable, while Sarah was in the chorus ensemble. After watching other people do my makeup a few nights in a row, Sarah realized they were doing it wrong – my face was orange. Sarah knew she should intervene. How did you get engaged? Months before the proposal, we were visiting a church that our Pastor was being installed in. As the announcements were being presented to the congregation, congratulating a newly engaged couple, I whispered to Sarah: “You know I’d never propose to you in a church, right?” And so the months of misdirecting her began. On February 23, 2014, I took Sarah to the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., where we went to the top of the …

Mark had been ring shopping for at least a month or two before he actually proposed. After a month or so Mark said let’s just go look at some rings together, so we found a ring that we both loved and he held onto it for a month before he proposed at 6 a.m. on June 9th. I had just gotten out of the shower, and he asked me to marry him, which he had actually done jokingly a few times, so I didn’t believe …
