A Lesson on Hospitality from Celebrity Planner Lisa Vorce

Escaping New York during dreary November days is always a blessing, but when you get to be a guest at Lisa Vorce’s loft, it’s in another league of comfort.  The creative team at Zola lugged our bags towards Lisa’s Santa Ana home, not knowing what to expect from the woman who’s first event was for George Clooney’s mother, Rosemary, and her most recent for Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend.   We were in for quite a hospitality tutorial from our November tastemaker. Welcome Kit First on the list? Lisa recommends providing your guests with a welcome kit, full of your favorite products. Display them at the foot of the bed and your guests are sure to feel pampered as soon as they walk in the door. Guest-Friendly Food As for the food, an easy yet elegant go-to for brunch is a variety of quiches. “I’m all about quiches since you can prepare them ahead of time. I prefer to get the work and the mess out of the way before my guests arrive. Typically I prepare a couple of quiches …

How to Register for Cash in a Tasteful Way

One concern we always get from engaged couples is how to register for cash funds in a polite and non-tacky way. These days, it’s very common for guests to contribute to a couple’s cash fund, but there is certainly a right way to go about asking for cash funds without making your guests feel uncomfortable. It’s totally reasonable to want money towards building your life together, so don’t feel guilty for asking. Just be sure to keep these tips in mind. Word of Mouth We recommend telling your friends & family in person that you will register for cash and mention what it will be going towards. If word gets around that you’re working towards a down payment for your home or want help creating the perfect honeymoon, your guests will take note. Your friends & family want to give you what you want, so if they hear it straight from you, they’ll feel more comfortable contributing towards your cash fund. Be Specific Make sure you’re clear regarding what you’ll be spending the money on. If guests know they’re gifting you …
