Let’s start at the beginning… In October 2023, my fiancé (now husband) had just proposed. I was looking for someone local to Lake Wales, FL to do our engagement photos and thought I struck gold when I came across Nate Franklin’s website. He offered engagement wedding photos and videography, and his work looked great. He was personable on the phone, reassuring me about the professionalism and care his team would provide. Mind you, the photographer was the most expensive vendor we hired for our wedding. I’m a simple person, but I wanted the photos to be perfect. We scheduled our engagement shoot around Thanksgiving at Bok Tower Gardens — a location deeply meaningful to my husband, as it was a special place he used to visit with his late grandmother. Nate told us we’d have time for two outfits, so I shopped and coordinated everything specifically. He was 30-40 minutes late, blaming being pulled over and other delays. With the park closing at 6:30 and us arriving around 5:30, we were incredibly rushed. I didn’t even get to change outfits. I tried to make the best of it, and while we got a few nice shots, overall I was disappointed. I had specifically asked for certain poses, knowing my husband doesn’t love taking photos, and wanted someone to guide him. Nate didn’t follow through on those requests and lacked clear posing direction. Our original wedding date was May 2025, but due to life changes, we moved it to a small elopement-style ceremony in June. I called Nate, not expecting him to be available, but he said we were “lucky” — he was free. In the weeks leading up, I couldn’t reach him at all — no calls, emails, or messages returned. I was seriously about to ask a friend to shoot it with my own camera. On the wedding day, he was scheduled to arrive at 2 PM — showed up 20 minutes late with no prior contact. They rushed through “getting ready” photos, but since we didn’t have bridesmaids or a first look, I let it go. I asked them to go to the venue before us to scout lighting — they did, but never even got out of the car until after we arrived. During the ceremony and rooftop first dance (which was absolutely magical), things went okay. However, at one point he snapped at my sister for filming behind him — even though I had asked her to get some footage for us to post immediately. When I explained that, he condescendingly told me I could just wait for the “sneak peeks” in a week. Poses I specifically asked for were dismissed or ignored, and we were guided into stiff, unnatural poses that didn’t suit our personalities. We’re both a little awkward and needed direction — he didn’t provide that. Despite us ending their time two hours early (out of kindness), we still paid in full and even gave them 250 for lunch. His contract said we’d receive sneak peeks within a week and final photos in a month. Instead, it took months and multiple attempts via email, text, Facebook, and phone to get anything. He offered excuses like a team member quitting, being overwhelmed, and being behind on editing. Now, a year later, we still don’t have our wedding video. No communication. No updates. No follow-through. No bride should ever have to write this kind of review about such an important part of their wedding. If you’re considering hiring this vendor, do so at your own risk Or just don’t! You’re better off spending a little more for a professional.

  • A warning to couples…

Long story short- I still have not recieved all of our footage from our July 2024 wedding and I don’t want anyone to fall for the good pricing. My husband and I had to fight for footage to be sent and he and his team missed SO many moments. The contract states all footage would be received by 30 days. If anyone is willing to share suggestions with taking legal action, please DM me. He also changed the name to Narrative Forge After receiving our engagement photos in a very timely matter, we were excited to see what would come for our wedding day. Unfortunately, Nate and his team failed to deliver what was in the contract and still has not given all of our footage from our July 2024 wedding. He has been unprofessional and very hard to get a hold of. When the wedding video was finally received, it was missing drone footage and was not on par with other videos that he had advertised. He also repeatedly lies and claims footage will be uploaded or footage is being “uploaded” and it will take a few hours and then nothing is uploaded. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed. He missed so many moments including most of the requested shots and was given so many opportunities to make things right. Don’t fall for the price. At this point I would’ve paid whatever the cost to have had my Wedding day captured properly and without all the drama. This honestly feels like a scam and he is exploiting couples.

Nate Franklin Films was our wedding videographer, and while his communication style could have been better in the pre-wedding planning, he was absolutely fantastic on the day of our wedding. Nate was a great listener, had a strong work ethic, made us laugh, and did a wonderful job of capturing our special day without being obtrusive. We haven't received our final video yet, so I can't speak to the quality, but the footage he captured during the ceremony and reception seemed to be excellent. Nate Franklin Films provided great direction when needed and mostly stayed out of the way, allowing us to fully enjoy our wedding day. While the wait for the final video may be a bit longer than expected, I'm confident it will be worth it based on their professionalism and the samples I've seen so far.

  • Don’t recommend because of lack of communication

Very unprofessional. I wish I could recommend him because he was so easy to talk to and has serious talent, but he lacks professionalism because he will not communicate and often lies when he gives you a timeline. He was wonderful to work with on the day of the wedding, he was friendly, posed us well, and is super fun, but here I am three months later with no completed wedding video or photos. The package I bought guaranteed a 30 day service in which I was supposed to receive all products (the highlight video, wedding ceremony edit, and photos) and this was not given to me in that timeline. When I did receive the photos the images were orange (my colors were pink) with not a hint of pink anywhere to be seen. He has been supposedly re-editing the photos for the past month with promises for them to be returned “soon” but I have not received communication or the finished products. I am highly disappointed and would caution any bride from hiring him because this has been so painful for me and I wish I had gone with a different company. I am sad because I believe he is genuinely talented but until he gets his act together he will not be able to have a successful business.
