About this venue

The Union Exchange is a gorgeous wedding venue and farm located in Monroe, NC. This stunning 100-year-old property expands over 54 acres of NC farm land encompassing an indigenous pine tree forest and 3.5 acres of scenic ponds. Featuring an abundance of restored historic structures and with a capacity of 150 guests, you are sure to find the perfect locale to say "I do." Gather your loved ones for your picturesque ceremony on the sprawling event lawn with luminous fountain views or in the magical pine tree forest. As the party atmosphere fills the air, retreat to one of our reception barns that combine vintage craftsmanship and elegant design! Dance the night away under the twinkling bistro lights while enjoying the beauty of your countryside celebration. As the festivities conclude, cozy up in our onsite sleeping accommodations including two private houses and two glamping cabins. The Auction Barn is our flagship historic structure that has been brought back to life with rustic cedar walls, craftsman custom-made bar, vintage restored windows and marbled concrete floors. The barn includes two ADA compliant bathrooms and opens out to our Carolina Pavilion looking over our enormous lawn, pond and fountains. Only available when booking a Full Farm Wedding Package. Sits 125 to include the dance floor or 140 with the dance floor moved to the Pavilion.

The Pine View Barn

Our historic red barn, the Pine View Barn, is beautifully nestled in a private pine tree forest and located at the back of the property.

Nestled amongst the indigenous pine tree forest, couples can enjoy a secluded retreat while celebrating their big day in the stunning Pine View Barn. This historic red barn is complete with custom covered patios, a large fire pit, glass accordion doors, and plenty of green space for activities. This climate controlled space comfortably fits 130 guests. Let our beautiful horses greet you in the adjacent pasture for an extra wow factor! Available with the Full Farm Package or Pine View Package

The McCain House is a 1920s farmhouse perfect for upscale events of all occasions. This multi-functional space features 9 large chandeliers, vintage crystal sconces, two ADA compliant bathrooms, and a kitchenette. Guests can enjoy the climate controlled inside as well as two outdoor party spaces! Featured in our Farmhouse Wedding Package, the McCain House is perfectly suited for intimate wedding receptions. The McCain House doubles as a get ready space in our Pine View and Full Farm Packages.

Renovated cattle barn turned open-air bar event space with rustic charm. Introducing, Splinters!

Enjoy a cold beverage while playing your favorite yard games. This bar comes with three TVs, a sound system, and retro southern furniture. Perfect for a welcome party or engagement party! Furniture consists of four rectangular tables with chairs/bench seating and four high top tables with barstools. Included in our Full Farm Package, Splinters is the perfect cocktail hour locale!

With this package, couples can choose between a ceremony located within the natural hallway of trees or our stunning private meadow. Our take on a micro-wedding, The Farmhouse package, begins the day of your wedding at 9am with full access to the McCain House and Sawmill Lounge. The excitement continues with check in to two onsite properties for sleeping accommodation at 2pm. From there, meet your partner at the aisle in our pine tree forest or whimsical meadow. After saying "I do," your group will journey up to our 1920s stye white farmhouse, The McCain House, for your reception. Available Monday -Thursday.

    My husband and I recently got married at The Union Exchange and had the most magical days of our lives. I don't even know where to begin! I have been going to The Union Exchange market since it opened in 2022 and ever since my first day on the property, I felt at home. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, there was familiarity to it with the rural charm and wooded trails. As I watched the property grow over the years and saw all the hard work they put in to making it a beautiful wedding venue, I knew deep down that this where my husband and I would get married. The staff at The Union Exchange are one of a kind. From day one, Kelly and Kacie were detailed oriented and provided helpful insight when making decisions, but never were pushy when it came to discussing add ons. Donna is sunshine personified and brought such a light to the meetings throughout the process. The day of the wedding was smooth and seamless and much of that had to do with the hard work of the venue team. The property itself is unlike any other venue we toured! It has the perfect blend of elegance and rustic charm, without feeling too barn-y. It's truly serene. We utilized the Full Farm Package so we had our ceremony in the Pine View Forest and reception at the Auction Barn, with cocktail hour at their stand alone bar, Splinters. One thing to note is the property is very large so there was some walking required throughout the day (for guests), but they are more than accommodating for people who need assistance! I HIGHLY recommend the Pine View Forest for the ceremony site. The lighting coming in through the trees was magical with the fall colors! You cannot go wrong with any location on the property for ceremony, but there really is something enchanting about the forest. The addition of the vintage furniture included in our package also added an element of elegance that perfectly matched the vibe we were going for. A HUGE perk of this venue was the addition of the AirBnBs on the property. We had the bridal party stay the night of the wedding and it worked out perfectly! My husband and I plan to come back on our anniversary and stay at the glamping cabin we stayed in on the night of our wedding which is such a special option to have that you don't get with many other venues. The bottom line - this venue is magical. The staff treats you like family to make it the wedding day of your dreams. I00/10 recommend!

    Me & my husband chose The Union Exchange as our wedding venue and we couldn't have picked a better one! The staff are SO lovely (massive shoutout to Kelly & Kacie!) and they were so flexible with us and really put in the extra effort to make sure our day was perfect. Not only are the staff here excellent at their jobs, they are also such wonderful kindhearted people too. We felt INSTANTLY welcomed the first time we ever visited & that is ultimately what lead us to choosing this place to get married. My family stayed in the big AirBNB at the front of the venue and it's such a great space for larger parties! Very modern but with a rustic twist and has everything you need. Also the animals are ADORABLE! Myself and my husband stayed in one of the little cabins near the lake and we both loved it so much that we will be coming back every year to celebrate our anniversary! They are so cosy but very clean, we loved sitting on the chairs at the front and watching all the geese go by. Special shoutout to the candles here, the "Market Mornings" candle was a nice addition to our cabin and we even bought one to take home with us to remember this by. Even though we were here for our wedding, I know they do so many cool events which are perfect for all ages, we will definitely be back in future! I cannot recommend this beautiful place more 3

    Not only did we choose The Union Exchange for our wedding but my Husband actually proposed in the same spot we had our ceremony! From the very beginning, the team at The Union Exchange was incredibly helpful, responsive, and kind to us. Their attention to detail and thoughtful accommodations made our wedding day truly special. The venue itself was absolutely beautiful, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. We were so touched by their sweet, family-like hospitality - it truly felt like they cared just as much about making our day perfect as we did. We couldn't have asked for a better partner in planning our wedding, and are so grateful to the entire team at The Union Exchange.
