About this venue

First sited in the 1750s, the Bayly Estate was expanded in 1796 as a family compound by the Josiah Bayly family. There are many beautiful homes on the Eastern Shore from this era, but none like this. Set on High Street, in the middle of Cambridge on what novelist James Michener called “one of the most beautiful streets in America,” the Bayly Estate has been hosting family gatherings for nearly three centuries. We have now opened our homes and carefully manicured grounds on over one acre to help you celebrate the most important moments in your family’s history. With seven bedrooms on-site and the ability to expand to 25+ rooms in the Historic District (to host principal families – the Hyatt Chesapeake Resort in town can accommodate another 300 guests), the Bayly Estate is perfectly set up to host your entire wedding weekend in style.

The Garden Courtyard at The Bayly Estate is a serene outdoor sanctuary where manicured tradition meets the soft beauty of the natural landscape. The space is anchored by a stately natural wood pergola, which serves as an organic focal point for ceremonies set upon a clean, white-stone gravel terrace. For receptions, the courtyard transitions into a vibrant lawn featuring a grand, high-peak sailcloth tent supported by warm wood poles, offering a sheltered yet airy environment for dining and dancing. Surrounded by a classic white picket fence and framed by the dappled shade of mature, leafy trees, the courtyard provides a seamless flow from a sunny "I do" to a starlit evening soirée.
