The old school just down Leonard is now Leona Road. A modern event venue in Grand Rapids with weddings on the mind. The walls are the same but the stories they’ll tell are all new. Originally built in 1916 as West Leonard Elementary School and fully renovated in 2020–2021, Leona Road is a wedding and event venue with Scandinavian Modern styling from the experienced team behind The Cheney Place, Fringe Events and PUNCH Bar Catering. With 19,000 square feet, a large outdoor terrace and free onsite parking, there is plenty of room to host your wedding for up to 300 guests.

    Wedding at Leona Road

    Working with Leona Road was an absolute blessing, especially during an incredibly challenging time. When my fiancée became unexpectedly ill two months before our wedding and required a lengthy hospitalization, we honestly didn't know what we'd do—but the team at Leona Road showed genuine compassion and understanding by graciously allowing us to reschedule six months out. This flexibility gave my bride the time she needed to recover and actually enjoy our special day. The venue itself is stunning and spacious, with an inviting atmosphere that made our guests feel comfortable from the moment they arrived. On the day of, their included coordinator was instrumental in keeping everything running smoothly throughout the ceremony and reception, handling every detail so we could focus on what mattered. From their prompt and thorough communication leading up to the event to the gorgeous final result, Leona Road exceeded our expectations in every way.

    Crushed it

    We got married at Leona Road and couldn't be happier with our choice. The team was enthusiastic and organized from our first conversation, making it easy to plan everything from out of state. They communicated clearly about every detail and went above and beyond by helping with setup and teardown on the day itself. The venue is bright and clean, with a curated feel that didn't need much decorating. We appreciated how straightforward the whole process was, and our guests loved the space. We'd recommend Leona Road to any couple looking for a venue that feels comfortable and stress-free.

    Absolutely Amazing!

    We cannot say enough amazing things about Leona Rd. I’ve worked in the events and venue industry for over 10 years, so I went into the wedding planning process with a pretty good understanding of what to look for, and Leona Rd exceeded every expectation. It was actually the only venue we toured because they made the decision so easy for us. From the very beginning, everything felt seamless, organized, and stress-free. The venue itself is beautiful and neutral, which makes it easy to bring any color palette or wedding vision to life. It was also incredibly affordable, especially considering how much they handle for you when it comes to setup and making the day run smoothly. Their food vendor options were fantastic, with a great variety of choices and price points to fit different budgets. The bar packages were also amazing and very reasonably priced. Overall, we felt so supported throughout the entire process, and our wedding day was everything we hoped it would be. We are so grateful we chose Leona Rd and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, flexible, and well-run place to celebrate their wedding.

    My dream wedding venue

    Leona Road checked every box for us. From the start, the team was organized and responsive, which made planning feel easy and stress-free. On the day of our wedding, their communication with our vendors was seamless—we didn't have to worry about a thing, and that freedom was incredible. The bridal suite gave us plenty of room for our hair and makeup teams, and they even let us add mimosas while we were getting ready. The venue itself is stunning with its clean design, natural light, and thoughtful layout that flowed perfectly for our guests. The bar setup was a highlight too—eight beers on tap and their partnership with PUNCH made for an awesome experience. We loved every moment at Leona Road and would recommend them without hesitation.

    Wonderful Leona Road Experience

    Leona Road was the perfect place for our wedding, and it was due to the incredible staff. From the day we toured this venue, we immediately got the feeling that the staff genuinely cared and were intentionally making their space the best possible experience for a couple getting married. The process of planning with Leona Road was smooth and straightforward. Great communication and timely responses. But the absolute best part about this venue was the support they provided on the day of the event. Three incredibly helpful staff members were with us the day of our wedding. Grace was our main coordinator who was with us all day. GRACE WAS AMAZING. She made the day so seamless and easy. She helped us with things we didn't even know we would need help with. She literally seemed to anticipate anything we needed before it happened. She was also genuinely so kind and warm, and all of our friends and family loved her. Before the day of our wedding I was feeling so anxious that the wedding day would feel like a long checklist to me and that I would be so preoccupied with making sure each thing happened on time that it would be hard to enjoy. I can honestly say, once I met Grace in the morning and she started guiding us through things, I did not have a single moment of stress the entire day and was just focused on being in the moment and having fun. We had a perfect experience, can't recommend this venue enough!
