I was raised north of San Francisco in beautiful West Sonoma County. My wife and I moved back home after living in Oakland for a number of years, and are now raising our daughter in the home my wife grew up in - it's magical. I love finding new places to photograph in Sonoma County and beyond, and I love making new memories in the familiar places I know so well. Weddings make me giddy, and I can't get enough of that feeling. Besides photographing weddings and spending time with my family, I'm also a lecturer in photography at CSU East Bay. Teaching what I love is a true gift, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to share with my students.

I take a documentary approach with a fine-art background. I love to disappear into the crowd and make discreet pictures, and I love getting caught so I can follow up with a formal group shot or two right afterwards:) When I imagine myself photographing someones event, I don't think of myself as just the person who takes pictures - I also think about the experience of looking at the pictures - because at the end of the day, that’s what we’re left with. I offer my services in creating custom prints, at whatever scale seems fitting for the images, if the couple so desires the service.

    We worked with Zach for our June 2025 wedding, and from the very first phone call he was incredibly thoughtful, curious, and genuine. He really took the time to get to know my husband and me, and to understand our story. What stood out most was how much he emphasized wanting the relationship to feel like a good fit on both sides: he genuinely cared about creating a collaborative experience, making sure we connected with his style and felt totally comfortable working together. Leading up to the wedding, Zach was super communicative and organized. He even took the time to meet us at our venue while we were in town and snapped a few surprise photos during the walkthrough. On the wedding day itself, he struck the perfect balance of calm and focused. He kept things light and fun while being clear and efficient, making sure we stayed on schedule and got every shot we wanted. We got our photos back so quickly, and they’re absolutely beautiful. Zach is not only incredibly talented, but also just a genuinely great person to have around on such a big day. He’s the kind of person you’d want to grab a beer with or have a deep life talk. All in all we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer.

    Hire Zack!! Best decision I made throughout the wedding planning process. He shot our engagement shoot entirely on film, and our wedding on film and digital. He perfectly captured the vibe of the wedding. I knew he would deliver, but now being in receipt of these photos, I am in awe. He was able to capture the intimate, quiet moments, alongside the celebratory, lively moments. I loved the portraits he took of our friends and family (during the ceremony, listening to speeches, etc.), and the shots from the cocktail hour mingling and late night dancing. You can really feel the energy and love in his photos. Our wedding ended up running late (surprise), and we only had an hour to dance. Zack's contracted time ended before the dancing even started. He checked in with me, told me he was going to stay to capture the dancing, and head out after. This speaks volumes!! He is so thoughtful and just an all around great guy. The day of the wedding felt like a blur - a warm glow of love. Zack's photographs allow me to revisit this day with such clear, joyful memories, and I'm forever grateful.
