Hi there! I'm Sara, a wedding photographer based out of Madison, WI. All love is welcome! 🏳️‍🌈 I am all about the story-telling aspect and candidly capturing every one of those special moments on your day.

Whether you want to go to a classic setting such as a park or a garden, downtown to your favorite spot for a drink, cozy up at home, or if you're up for a hike, I am there for it! I work by directing couples with prompts to help get a variety of posed photos, movement, and also those candid in-between moments. After it's all said and done, I deliver photos quickly that are vivid, true to color, and timeless. I can't wait to hear from you!

    Simply the best

Working with Sara was the absolute best. Not only do we absolutely love our wedding album, but we are amazed by her ability to seemingly be everywhere all at once, capturing every little detail along the way. Beyond her stunning photo skills, Sara brought a warm and calming temperament to our wedding day, filled with little tips along the way. It is not hyperbole to say that our wedding day would not have been the same without Sara's presence, and we are so grateful for the absolutely stunning images that we now have to share and preserve those memories for ever.

    The BEST photographer!

Sara is the best photographer we could have chosen for our wedding, and the photos she took of me and my husband came out even more amazing than I could have ever imagined! She did both our engagement and wedding photos, and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. I was blown away at how efficient and organized she was throughout the whole process, including zoom meetings and on the wedding day itself! My family and friends kept telling me how much they were impressed by Sara as well. I will always recommend her for anyone who needs wedding or engagement photos!

    Sara was amazing

Sara was perfect for our engagement pictures. I had actually messed up the location when telling her about it and didn't notice until last minute, but she was super flexible and went out of her way to move us to the location I intended when I told her about the slip up. At our shoot, she was awesome, giving great instruction for poses and adjustments to perfect our pictures, while also being open to any suggestions from us! She came up with pictures and poses that I never could have thought of, some of which ended up being my favorite. We were on a wooded trail where she would quite literally would climb and clamber through, under, and over whatever she needed to in order to line up the perfect shot. She’s friendly, professional, diligent, and I’d be super pleased to work with her again.

    Simply the best!

Sara blew our expectations out of the water! She managed a lot of chaos effortlessly and really took the time to listen to everything we wanted out of our wedding photos. She controlled the chaos of the wild groomsmen, got the absolute best pictures of my mom who needs more support and can be difficult to photograph, and got perfect pictures of our fur baby! There wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle! She got the coolest party shots of the night and captured some really emotional photos as well that we will treasure forever. You won’t regret working with Sara, only that you didn’t have a reason to book her sooner!

5 stars for a big wedding

Sara Baillies Photography was a wonderful choice for our wedding photography. From the very beginning, their communication style was professional and prompt, which put us at ease throughout the planning process. The quality of their work and overall value was exceptional - we were thrilled with the beautiful, natural photos they captured that truly reflected the joy and emotions of our special day. Sara provided a detailed day-of timeline to keep us on track, and she expertly wrangled our large, rambunctious wedding party and families with ease. As two people who typically feel awkward in front of the camera, Sara made the photography experience fun and comfortable, and we ended up with gorgeous memories that we will cherish forever. We cannot recommend Sara Baillies Photography enough!

Yes! I totally got you. During sessions and on wedding days, I am always giving guidance, prompts, and direction. I will start out with easy prompts and work our way up to harder poses. Taking photos can feel silly or awkward sometimes, but I will make it fun and painless. None of my clients are models!
I highly recommend them! This is your opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera prior to your wedding day so you feel confident for the real deal. It's also our chance to get to know each other and build trust. It's a bonus that you get tons of cute photos that you can use for things like stationary, your wedding website, and decor. Plus, your engagement is a short but special season of your life, so I think you should capture it!
In general, I would recommend two photographers, but it's not a given and depends on a lot of things. If getting ready locations vary, it's easier to have two. One photographer can be with each group getting ready, and one can focus on details. If you don't plan on seeing each other ahead of the ceremony, then I highly recommend two photographers so we can get as much done as possible during cocktail hour: family photos, couple photos, the full wedding party, cocktail hour coverage, and reception details. If you have 150+ guests invited, I recommend two photographers to ensure more coverage of all guests during the ceremony and reception.
With wedding packages, I include up to two hours of travel from my home base: Madison, WI. With hourly weddings or sessions, I include up to one hour of travel from my home base. I will travel as far as you want though!
Of course! I always have at least two cameras on me, that way if anything goes wrong with one, I can still take photos. Each of my cameras have two memory card slots, so there’s a built-in backup copy as I shoot. When I get home, I back up photos to my server that automatically creates another backup off-site of the photos. I have multiples of all my gear! I have never, ever missed a wedding, but I've worked with a lot of photographers in the area (and editors), so if something were to happen to me, I would find you a replacement (with your approval) that I trust, either for just the day-of, or both day-of and editing if needed.
I always send a sneak peek within three days of an event. For sessions, you can expect the full gallery in 3-4 weeks. For weddings, you can expect the gallery in 6-10 weeks. For hour long sessions, you can expect 75+ photos. For full day weddings, you can expect somewhere around 700-1000 photos. However, I don't set a limit, and I deliver everything I possibly can! You can download and share photos directly from the online gallery (I use pixieset.com). Images will be full resolution and unwatermarked.
From your online gallery, you have access to professional-grade prints, albums, canvasses, and stationary. Otherwise, feel free to order from wherever you’d like.
Send me a message, and let’s make sure I have availability. I am typically booking weddings anywhere from 6 months to 24 months out. I can take them on at a shorter notice sometimes too, so just ask. If you would like, we can hop on a phone or video call and go through any questions. After that, to officially book, I need you to sign a contract and send over a retainer (25% of the total package price). Then you’re good to go!
