Hi, I'm Makenna, and I’m a Wedding + Lifestyle Photographer based in the Madison Metropolitan area! I am a midwest gal, born and raised, currently residing in Stoughton, WI. Most days you can find me hanging out with my best friend and husband, Chris, our daughter Scottie, and our dog, Sky. Other than my family and photography, I’m most passionate about music, dance and the arts in general. I’m also interested in clean skin care and beauty, sustainable fashion, supporting small businesses, and meeting/getting to know new people! I would love to get to know you more as a couple, and to photograph your wedding day!

I strive to photograph those intimate, authentic, fun, and full of life moments. I use a lot of movement in my weddings and sessions, because I want to create the most natural expressions to capture you in your best form. We will laugh, things may get weird (in a good way, don’t worry), there will be music playing, and maybe even some dancing!

This is for 50 guests or less celebrations. It includes building a custom timeline, giving you my top vendor recommendations (officiant, florist, ceremony and after ceremony celebration location ideas, etc), personal use printing rights, sharing a sneak peek for you to enjoy before your final gallery is ready, and you get a private, online gallery with all of your images from the day once all of your photos are ready!

Amazing Experience
Makenna was extremely helpful and understanding throughout the engagement and wedding photography process. Both my wife and I have little photography / posing experience so we were thankful for Makenna's input and suggestions. As she learned our photo preferences she was able to anticipate what shots we might want. Combined with her thorough review of planned wedding pictures we were able to prioritize what shots were "must haves" and massage our timeline as needed. If you want to make sure you look your best on your big day and don't have any shots missed I cannot recommend Makenna enough!

The best of the best!
We had the absolute pleasure of working with Makenna for our engagement and wedding photos, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results! Great Photographer to Work With!
Makenna was super great to work with and I really hope to work with her again in the future. She was really respectful of my space when I was aiming to get certain video shots, but was also communicative anywhere on site with not only us videographers, but also with her couples. She even captured a few photos of us in action for us to use on our website, which was so considerate! Again, I really enjoyed working with Makenna and hope to again soon. She is excellent!

Passionate, Professional and Talented Photographer
I can't say enough good things about Makenna Smith Photography! There are so many things to love! We've worked with her three separate times and each time she absolutely exceeds our expectations! She is so incredibly talented. One of the times we worked with her was when she was just beginning her photography business and the finished product was absolutely stunning - we still get compliments today on our photos and I love to tell people that she was just getting started at the time. We love to brag about her! Her attention to detail and organizational skills during the planning process is so much appreciated. She helped answer all planning questions, assisted us with finding vendors and was so great at communicating with us and with our other vendors. Even though she had other clients, I always felt like the top priority. On the day of the wedding, Makenna is so helpful at keeping things going. She leads when she needs to but she's flexible and goes with the flow when things don't go as planned. She always makes it a priority to check in with the couple to see if they are having fun, doing okay, and enjoying the day. She's so selfless and does whatever it takes to make the day amazing for the couple. She goes above and beyond in everything she does - she is so much more than a photographer. Aside from being a great professional, Makenna is a wonderful person and her energy and heart shines through in everything she does. This is her passion. She loves capturing special moments and I'm so thankful she agreed to capture ours!

Yes, absolutely! Any excuse to travel, and I'm there! Travel fees may apply over 50 miles from Madison, WI. Request a quote if you have a location in mind!

I require a retainer with a signed contract in order to book your wedding or session with me. The remaining amount is due a month before your wedding day or the day of your session. If you have questions or want to talk about a payment plan, email me!

For all sessions that I offer, you can expect a gallery within 4-8 weeks depending on the time of year. For wedding galleries, you can expect a gallery within 8-14 weeks.

Absolutely! If you don’t already have a perfect place in mind, I can share a list of locations that I’m familiar with depending on what vibe you’re looking for!

Of course! I want you to feel 100% comfortable in front of the camera, so I’ll ask you questions before the session to get to know you a little better, I’ll play some music during the session, and I'll guide you with intentional, movement based prompts to capture you as you are! Don’t worry, I was a choreographer for years, so I’ve got you!

I will deliver the best photos taken from your session and wedding day, and every photo you receive is professionally edited by me. For most sessions, you can expect at least 50 images. For weddings, it depends on the number of hours I'm booked for, but at the very minimum, usually at least 300-500 images (I can't contain myself though, and most likely it will be more than that).

I ask that you don't edit any photos - that's why you hired me! You will have 30 days after the gallery is delivered to let me know if you’d like any changes or edits made.

Yes! From DJs to florists and hair/make-up artists, I have a full PDF document that I will send to you after you book with me!

I highly recommend ordering prints through the online gallery I send to you with your final images, but it isn't required. The difference in quality is huge when it comes to ordering through a professional lab, so I always love to help with prints! Otherwise, you have full printing rights to print elsewhere as well!

I respect your privacy and allow each client to decide whether or not they want their photos displayed publicly. I’d love to show off your images, if you’re game! If not, that's okay too.

Color correction and some minor retouching will be done to all of your images, but I believe our imperfections are what make us beautiful & unique. If there is extensive retouching you want done, this will be charged according to the number and complexity of the edits.

All of my wedding collections come with a single photographer, but you are more than welcome to add on a second photographer for an additional cost.
